  1. The issue is most likely at the site or network, not related to 4G itself. It may be the 4G core. If you are connected to 3G via eHRPD, then your 3G data is going though the 4G core. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner

  4. Warsaw is getting done because it is part of the Ft. Wayne/South Bend market. Deployment is done over an entire market, not city specific. Sprint has broken their 97 markets into hundreds of communities in their press releases so it can compete with AT&T and Verizon in how they have planned their press releases to be city instead of market specific. This is much like how Ocala, Gainesville and St. Augustine will be under development at the same time as Jacksonville, because they are all apart of the same market. Robert
  5. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Friday, October 12, 2012 - 8:19 AM MDT On this Friday morning, Sprint's marketing cranked out a new Press Release adding 20 additional communities that Sprint anticipates having at least a prelaunch amount of service available to use by its LTE customers before the end of the year. All of these appear to be in areas where Sprint is already working. But just expanding out to other communities within those markets. A couple are a repeat from the previous 100 city list from Sprint, like Warsaw, Marion and South Bend, Indiana and Sebring, Florida. However, I know there are a lot of Ft. Wayne customers who are now happy to see they will not get left behind their Hoosier State counterparts in South Bend. It is no accident that Sprint outlines that the LTE signals that are discovered in these areas are "prelaunch." Sprint is trying to set expectations that these are advance LTE signals that will be usable to customers. It's great that Sprint will allow these sites to be usable pretty quickly after they are complete. But as we have seen around our forums and our social media pages, there is a pretty vocal part of their customer base who expects to have wall to wall coverage immediately upon receiving their first LTE signal. It is important that these people understand that they are getting to use their LTE sites really early, before the whole network is ready. And this is a good thing. Most markets will take a long time from prelaunch phase until they have ubiquitous coverage over the whole area. A few months to a year, depending on the market. EDIT 8:44 AM MDT: After further review, Joplin, MO is the first city in the Missouri market. So there is one new market where deployment is now expanding to. This should be taken as good news that work will also be starting in St. Louis, Springfield, Columbia and Jefferson City in the not-too-distant future.
  6. There is no hold up. Work has has occurred at over one hundred sites in the the boroughs and Westchester. Things are progressing nicely. The one live site in the Bronx is probably because of a site left on by a tech after testing. Not because it is the only site converted in the metro. You will see more and more testing signals in the next week or two pop up all over the place. Some may be temporary and go away. Some may stay on permanently. However, it will not be too long before Sprint prelaunches portions of the market or maybe even most of it. Prelaunch will not provide 100% coverage, but it will allow customers to connect to all the completed LTE sites to date. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
  7. I used to deal in hotel development and I know exactly what you mean. We always looked for Asian and European investment over American investment because of their long term investment focus. American investors expected to double their money in 24 months and generally didn't care about the operations or asset maintenance or protection. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
  8. There is no minimum donation. Just know that S4GRU is member supported and not for profit. We use all proceeds to keep us online. We need on average $25 per Sponsor to cover our expenses. Some donate less, some donate more. I will let your wallet and your conscience be your guide. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
  9. My cousin's wife's uncle's neighbor's best friend believes he may have seen a non descript white truck at a tower that is colocated with five different carriers. And he either was carrying a Sprint LTE panel or a bumper from a Fiat Spyder. So that must mean... That LTE is coming! Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner

  15. I see my tower at network.sprint.com in Rancid Steer, Wyoming is receiving a speed upgrade... It must be LTE is coming! Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
  16. I am not a long term customer, so I am not concerned about my personal position. And I know my personal position is actually most impacted by the duopoly. So anything that Softbank can do to strengthen Sprint's position and better compete against the duopoly is better for me. Better for us all. Even better for the long term Sprint customers, all things considered. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
  17. No. The sites that have 3G upgrades instituted can be used by all Sprint 3G devices. There is not really much difference between EVDO-A and eHRPD. I discuss the difference here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1819-what-is-ehrpd/page__view__findpost__p__52976 However, only LTE devices will connect to 3G using eHRPD. But there is really not much advantage of EVDO over eHRPD coming from the same exact site on the same channel. The biggest advantage of eHRPD is it allows LTE to seamlessly handoff to 3G. So you data streaming can continue when transfer from 4G to 3G. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
