  1. So if they make the mainstream plans more competitive and less expensive than they are now, you will leave because the new plans are not called SERO??? The mutli-line everything plans are not much more expensive than SERO-P now. Any reduction in mainstream plan costs would bring it inline. You SERO customers really confound me if you don't want an equally good plan. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  2. No. They're not behind. They are way, way ahead. Deployment wasn't scheduled to start initially until late Spring 2013. They've moved it to start in December 2012. Work just started in the South Texas market. Sprint did not announce that LTE coverage was imminent. Only that work was under way and that LTE would be available in the coming months. They used very vague language intentionally. No real time lines at all. And at the time of the announcements, infrastructure work and logistics were under way. It allowed for active deployment to begin last month. We will probably get the first inspection reports for this market in the next 30-45 days. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  3. Changed. Its seems the crux to the OP is device development. So I changed the title accordingly. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  4. I don't think SERO will be kept much longer after NV is complete. I think SoftBank will be going through and changing the plan structure. It will likely become even more competitive, but they will likely get rid of these old programs like SERO. That's my guess. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  5. I've never seen such a small set of base cabinets for a legacy site. They're so cute. Just want to go up and squeeze their little cheeks. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  6. You're right. They haven't. They've recently lumped the Clearwire deal into the Sprint/Softbank deal. The public comment period doesn't even end until January 28th. It is not approved yet. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk
  7. LTE handoff to other LTE sites is smooth as silk. LTE handoff to 3G EVDO is usually pretty good. 3G EVDO to LTE handoff is more of a problem. My device testing doesn't want to do that with an active data stream. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk

  10. This reminds me of one time I was staying at an Embassy Suites. I took a shower and I left the news on the TV. I walked out of the shower completely nude. And when I walked by the TV, they had some breaking news. So I sat on the couch buck naked watching whatever it was on the news. My wife called just then. I tried to mess with her and told her I was sitting on the couch naked watching the news. She countered that I'm probably not the first to be naked on that couch. I jumped about 5 feet in the air. 11. In my testing, LTE performance on the GNex was fine. Its just extremely lousy with 1x and EVDO. With EVDO on 1900, it's one of the worst Sprint smartphones of all time. Just horrible. Robert via Nexus 7 on Tapatalk

  13. I get a -102dBm EVDO/1x signal in my work office and I will get pings of 90-120ms and 1.2Mbps speeds. And my phone calls are crisp and clear. Low signal does not always equal low performance. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  14. It is not an IBS. It was specifically labeled a macro site. It is not unusual for brand new sites to not be live when they show up in the update. Sometimes a few days. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  15. All in all, Sensorly's gathering methods are very sound. Although there is variation between devices to some degree, the results Sensorly reports via crowdsourcing is superior to that of the carriers. Especially Sprint LTE coverage maps. Which are grossly exaggerative. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  16. Yes. I don't feel good showing the results which will show the EVO LTE with noticeable disadvantages if those problems have been reduced or no longer exist. I'm hoping to arrange something this month still. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  17. I did my testing in Waco and Wichita Falls in fully deployed areas for this reason. I tested each device at four different intervals using averages. I also did testing in high signal areas, midrange signal areas and low signal areas. My interest was mostly in radio performance via signal strength and quality of signal. Although I also did data performance testing, this was not the purpose of my testing. I also tested Verizon LTE and T-Mobile HSPA+ for comparison with all the Sprint LTE device testing. 19. There is a bug that a couple of members who have custom ROMs on the Galaxy Nexus have reported. It causes all their reporting to Sensorly show a strong signal, even when it is weak. I always beg people when they discover they have the bug to stop reporting to Sensorly. This may be what has happened here. I'm always skeptical of solid purple blotches that do not fade to lighter colors. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk

  21. As a person who deals with permitting all the time, there is a lot of variability in how valuation in permitting is handled. In some places, the value is based on the value of all materials used. In others, all materials except electrical and mechanical. Also, many of these jurisdictions for cell tower work, they only have to pull a permit for the electrical only. If so, they may just have to declare to value of the materials used related to electrical supply and distribution and not the panels, RRU's and cabinets. Welcome to my world. 22. There are no live LTE sites in CT yet. Alcatel Lucent has completed work on several sites in the state, but so far only 3G is live on those sites. AlcaLu tends to hold LTE for a few months of the first completed sites before turning on LTE. I'm not sure as to why. But they almost always do. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  23. I got trolled from Michigan the day I announce a site in Michigan. LTE is here. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  24. They knew there was a risk. That's why they never actually said years end in their releases. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  25. Definitely a challenge. I haven't seen one yet. But I'm keeping a good watch on the one near my home to see how they do it. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
