  1. Possibly. We will have to see what Edict the Spectrum King hands down. Robert
  2. Don't forget to join us in The Lounge for a S4GRU Chat this Sunday evening! Looking forward to catching up with y'all!!! Robert
  3. Once you get customers addicted to cheap prices, it is all but impossible to recover, except over a long, long period of time. Look at SERO. There are still millions of customers on it. Robert
  4. I disagree with Chairman Wheeler. Blocking joint bidding reduces competition in bidding allowing the duopoly to get more. Smaller providers need to jointly bid in order to effectively make competing bids with the duopoly. He is completely wrong on this issue, if his goal is competition. Whether for consumers or to raise bids/revenue on the spectrum sale. Only the duopoly wins with the stand. Everyone else loses. Robert
  5. Based on your description of where you are at in between 3 sites that have already been upgraded with B26, you likely are not going to see any improvement for years. Unless your sites have not been optimized. Every LTE network is going to have fringes. And you may have found that your house is in one of them. If you need LTE around your house and Sprint B26 is not cutting it for you, you may need to get another provider. Sprint will not be everyone's best provider, unfortunately. You'll have to go through an exercise of pros and cons about what's important for you in an LTE provider and see what it going to be best for you. Band 41 will not bring you relief if you are just now barely getting a Band 26 signal. In the Milwaukee area, B41 will first be added to existing B25/26 sites. They will not be adding infill sites for a few years. And even then, it will likely not be providing signal beyond existing B26 coverage except in a few isolated exceptions. Robert
  6. Most Sprint COWS nowadays have at least B25/B26 LTE. They can only broadcast B26 in appropriate areas, of course. I haven't seen any reports of B41 COW's, yet. Maybe soon. Robert
  7. Let them eat cake! Or perhaps, Orange. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  8. I remember Pah is water. Not sure about the rump. I should have guessed water butt. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  9. OK. We will make fun of Pahrump instead. The only place worse than Fresno. Doesn't Pahrump mean bad water in Paiute? Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  10. It's in the Sponsor section because the data is built on top of our Sponsor map data, site names, site numbers and GPS coords. No one at S4GRU is compensated. We are an all volunteer staff and members who contribute financially through donations to help pay the site's expenses. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  11. That is not true. They would have to continue with same gains while Sprint continues with the same losses for 3-4 more quarters for that to happen. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  12. I was shocked to see meth and Fresno used together. Shocked. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. WiMax will not be completely decommissioned until the end of 2015. However, there will be service impacts until then. A tower decommissioned here, capacity reduced there. Narrowing channels to 5MHz instead of 10MHz. So you may be noticing some of these impacts as WiMax goes into its final days. Grandpa is on life support. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  14. It's their 700 FIT. I saw it referenced in one of the docs I read today. But if we are giving credit to Tmo for FIT'S, then Sprint has the best damn network in the world since they are actually building. Right? Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  15. Man, that's not even funny. Sadist!! Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  16. You got the reference. That makes my day!!! Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  17. I'd support that if you become a Sprint RRPP member. Heck, you can even call it a more derogatory name if you like. I just want to be able to go back to Sprint service. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  18. It's just like, it's just like, it's just like...a mini map! Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. It's OK to report bad news. It's just the editorial anti Sprint garbage called news like the BGR piece. There is a lot of negative info in Sprint's 2Q Report that's worthy of discussion. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  20. Ehhh. I wouldn't read too much into that. My company also challenged me to do the same amount of work in a more cost effective manner. Like working in clusters going from one location to the next, and keeping crews and equipment deliveries clumped together. Makes things go faster and spend less money, but requires more planning and management effort. Sprint did not not plan and manage NV1.0 very well and did it about as loosey goosey and haphazardly as possible. I applaud the Masa/Saw laser like focus on managing outcomes instead of just putting out fires. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  21. What does that mean? Hold up for what? It's not like they are in danger of going bankrupt. Robert
  22. Where is the source of cutting capex? Additionally, even if they are cutting capex from $8 Billion to $7 Billion in 2014, that doesn't mean much. It may even be because equipment suppliers cannot even produce the equipment fast enough to burn $8 Billion, so they have revised projections. This is absolutely nothing to be concerned about at all. And is the $1 Billion cut over the next two years? If so, that would mean $15B instead of $16B. This is just not a sign of the sky is falling. Masa could easily get another billion if he needed to. This is a sign of something else that is not understood at face value. Robert
  23. Whoa Daddy!!! Sponsors, check out the acceptance map from today in SFO: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/653-network-vision-site-map-northern-californianevada/?p=344683 Robert
  24. I really have not noticed any improved battery performance in using 1x only in devices from the past two years or so. If so, it would only be because you may have a stronger 1x signal in areas that could have weak LTE. For me though it wouldn't matter. It is very rare for me to stream music when I'm not plugged in and charging. I'm almost always in my car or at my desk when I stream music. My wife does while running, but she only runs for 45-60 minutes at a time this time of year. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
