Thanks for sharing. Hopefully the tower on 1781 will start broadcasting LTE soon. I don't think the back haul has been done yet but the panels and RRUs have been installed

Does anyone know if/when the tower on North Padre Island in corpus (78418) will be bumped up to LTE? I am ready to ditch this slow 3G.....

I can see LTE signals down SPID through flour bluff but it falls off when I hit the causeway. I'm not sure data is fully activated on those LTE sites though as I am not seeing any speeds faster than 3G and occasionally I can't get any data over 4G. Seems to be sporadically working further in town though.

I just sent a paypal donation so I'm sure I can probably answer my own question soon but I'm curious if anyone else lives out here that can share some intel.

Thanks!

Dave,

A month back I didn't see any work on the towers out there. One can only hope it gets here sooner than later. Keep an eye out for workers on the tower itself installing new panels and RRUs as that's the best indicator of an upgrade to LTE

Thanks.

I checked the NV sites google maps here and it shows most of the other CC tower sites, including quite a few lit up with LTE, but doesn't show the one on the island at all. The network.sprint.com site does show one here and says it recently got a data speed upgrade. I'm assuming just because the NV map from S4gru doesn't show a tower doesn't necessarily mean that its not scheduled for an update, just that data isn't available?

I drove around the island with sensorly and logged that 4G is only available from the tower(s) on the mainland, so it fades as you get close to the bridge.

I think I know which tower it is (there are two right next to each other), I will keep an eye on it daily when I drive by....  I would not want to be up there when we have our usual 30knot spring breeze ;-)

Thanks.

Is it on this map? This shows all of the Sprint towers in the area.

All Sprint towers will get upgrades. When exactly it happens at each tower is up in the air, since it takes all sorts of moving pieces to make it happen (permits, equipment, backhaul, manpower, etc).

BTW,  :welcome: to the site and thanks for being a Sponsor!

Yes, there are two on the island on that map.

I only knew about the first one. I will keep an eye on both. I'm not very good at tower spotting but if it would help I could take some pictures of them? I'm literally right around the corner from both.

I was looking at the NV Sites Complete map, which explains why they weren't listed. Hopefully they are going to light up soon!

thanks for this site. I was really close to jumping ship before I found this and saw that the upgrade is imminent.

This link should be fairly helpful then: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2902-how-to-spot-sprint-antennas-and-rrus-ericsson-style/

It gives examples of what NV and Legacy equipment look like in your market. Well, NV equipment anyway. Legacy equipment is highly variable.

does anyone know when kngsville getting LTE? I have seen people on 2 of the 3 Towers in town. One of the towers was I believe upgraded around month ago and the second tower about 2 weeks ago. Also I know that Bishop the neighboring town North of Kingsville has LTE. when should we expect some LTE here in kingsville tx?

I've seen your question a couple of times now, Sorry you haven't gotten a direct response, but as soon as this site hears about work done in your area, we will go ahead and inform you. As of right now, and I might be wrong, there hasn't been much activity in Kingsville regarding LTE upgrades. Sorry if it's not the answer you seek, but like I said, we will continue checking and inform you once we know.

Coverage won't change the day before or after the launch. Just a press release is all. And you can official get LTE support from Sprint techs.
