I am seeing the news today that Apple CEO Tim Cook is now publicly gay, I am not an Apple fan, but I am glad to see more and more people are starting to come out and are not being afraid of who they are. I myself am and proud of it myself, just like in all the articles I have seen "Let me be clear: I'm proud to be gay...."   http://money.cnn.com/2014/10/30/technology/tim-cook-gay/

Good for him. I already read that Russian wants to ban him because they think they're going to get AIDs or Ebola. It's amazing how tiny minded, disgusting, and ignorant people can be.

Its unfortunate what world we live in and people acting the way just like you said "tiny minded, stupid and ignorant". The gay community seems to still be viewed wrong.

That is true. It brings out the ignorant and I had to unfollow two folks on twitter over their stupid comments. I admire and salute that Cook took the leap and courage to come out. He is in such a high position that it wouldn't affect him one single bit announcing his coming out, but there are tons of folks not as fortunate as him that can't come out for fear of harassment, loss of income and even fear for life.

Its still not a perfect world yet, but at least we are at a point in time that folks can come out of the closet unlike decades ago when no one dared.

Great for him! Hopefully this makes it easier for others that are not in such high places in society to feel comfortable with who they are and to have others accept them for who they are. :)

This thread is being unlocked to all for further intelligent conversation about the recent news involving Tim Cook and his recent announcement.

If at any immediate moment any of our members makes a derogatory comment or a comment we feel is inappropriate, it will lead to immediate corrective action, including up to termination of your account here at S4GRU.

We are a community of all races, religion, sexual orientation and what ever anyone here wants to determine themselves to be.

I don't care if your friend, family member, neighbor, co-worker or your dog identifies as being of the LGBT community. This rule still applies to you too.

So needless to say tread lightly with your following comments.

This is really great news. As a heterosexual male, I feel we need more of these high profile figures announcing their homosexuality. Maybe it will help (even a little bit) some younger folks deal with their own sexuality. We live in such a ridiculous world where people have to hide and suppress their true desires. It's so archaic how some people feel about these groups that it makes me sick. Way to go, Tim. Now, can we finally go back to the old Apple logo? :)

I'm glad we live in a society that allows you to express the true nature of your sexual orientation.  I still recommend he put the iPhone somewhere the sun doesn't shine, but this time I'll suggest he put it securely inside his desk so he isn't so distracted at work.  :D  :tu:  Better?

* I do support homosexual unions and legalization of MJ for medical

Since I feel your "Better?" comment is a publicly sarcastic response to my warning, let me publicly say, enjoy your week suspension from S4GRU. Hopefully when you return you'll have a better attitude.

Let this show to all members that the staff at S4GRU does not care what your member title is. Everyone must follow the rules.

Robert is traveling today, so as tech editor, I am the admin pro tem.  As such, I am going to lay down the law -- and there will be no debate about my decision.

This thread is hereby locked and will not be reopened.  However, it will not be deleted nor hidden.  It will remain viewable for those who wish to read it.  That is the best compromise between two competing agendas that seemingly cannot get along in this discussion.

    • T-Mobile has saved its 28Mhz mmWave licenses by using the point to point method to do environment monitoring inside its cabinets. The attachment below shows the antennas used: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/ApplicationSearch/applAdmin.jsp;JSESSIONID_APPSEARCH=LxvbnJuvusmIklPhKy6gVK7f9uwylrZ8LiNf3BqIKlDp3_5GxoBr!300973589!225089709?applID=14787154#   Here are the sites for Franklin county OH: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/attachments/attachmentViewRD.jsp?applType=search&fileKey=66518254&attachmentKey=21989782&attachmentInd=applAttach
    • Yep, there is a label on the side of the box but it doesn't provide any useful info that the city doesn't already provide (Crown Castle Solutions is the franchisee). You can see my graphical interpretation of the city's dataset here.

    • Totally agree.  In my county and surrounding counties, TM did not place n-41 on every site.  When I look at the sites in question, I probably would have not placed it there either.  I can find just a few with n-71 only and in most of those cases if you live there and know the probable usage of the residents, you would not do a full upgrade on those sites.  One site in particular is set up to force feed n-71 through a long tunnel on the Turnpike.  No stopping allowed in the tunnel. No stores, movie theaters, bathrooms, so n41 would be a waste.    n25 is not really needed either, so it is not there.  The tunnel is going through & under a mountain with more black bears than people.  TM was smart.  Get good coverage in the tunnel but do not waste many many thousands of dollars with extra unused spectrum. I also see sites with only n71 & n25.  Again this makes sense to me.  Depending on what county we are talking about, they moved much of their b25 from LTE to nr.  Some counties have more n25 than a neighboring county, but luckily, it is plenty everywhere.   When you are in a very rural area, n41 can run up the bills and then be barely used.  I am NOT finding sites that should have had n41 but TM failed to provide it.  They may have to come back later in a few years and upgrade the site to n41.  However, we just may eventually see the last little piece on Band 25 leave LTE and move to n25. I am not sure if the satellite to phone service is using band 25 G block as LTE or nr. We also can possibly have at least some AWS move from LTE to nr at some point.  Yes, everybody wants n41. it is not justified in some cases.  When I travel, I desire some decent service along the entire route but it does not have to be 1 or 2 gig download.   If I can get 50/5 on a speedtest with data that will flow and not stutter, I am very happy. Yes, they will swap out the USC gear.  TM needs to match their existing network. The USCC equipment did the job for years, but it is time to retire it.
