Samsung Galaxy Note 4 User Thread

Some say yes some say no. I think it's more mental than anything. I'm running a custom rom so I couldn't tell you from personal experience. I can say I had a n5 and hated it. I wasn't impressed at all.

There is a pretty significant difference in quite a few things, mostly though I have my old launcher back which I really love.

I found this article compares benchmarks near bottom. Numbers are clear......sorry.

I know benchmarks say otherwise but the GUI is vastly faster on the Nexus 5, therefore one would say that the Nexus 5 is faster due to perceived responsiveness. That's what I am saying when in regards to the Nexus 5 and Note 4.

As you said "perceived" , people hate TouchWiz so they think anything other is faster. Benchmarks are actual numbers not perception. But at the end of the day use what you like as long as it's not iOS

Some of the snappiness you notice is default Android, which is almost always more snappy than TouchWiz.

Really can't believe we're into March and no update...

I would rather it be done right than rushed out. New versions are nice but Kit Kat is running just fine for me. It doesn't really seem like there's much new in Lollipop, other than switching to Art.

Agree, I'm just ready to get it rooted and start flashing new roms...

T-Mobile has a new page on their site that tracks the status of OS updates for its phones. For the Note 4, it says it's in Manufacturer Development. That makes it seem like Samsung is still working on the update and hasn't sent it to T-Mobile for testing yet. If that's the case with T-Mobile's variant, I would think Sprint's variant is in the same situation.

 

Interestingly, the Note 3 is listed as T-Mobile Testing (the next step), so maybe Samsung is having issues with the Note 4's update that they've sent out on a limited basis in other countries.

Edit: After posting, I checked for the update on my phone and it's downloading now. Size is 1016.85MB. I'll post with any issues I experience as the day goes on (hopefully none)

Installed so far it's quite smooth, still don't see a difference in the signal though, still wanting to stick to B25.

I'm liking the Smart Lock feature so far. I added my Pebble as a trusted device so now I just have to swipe to unlock the phone instead of swiping my finger, which would still be required whenever my Pebble isn't connected to the phone for whatever reason.

 

 

I could do without the new bright orange color on the Messaging app, but there doesn't seem to be a way to change that (unless I'm missing the option)
