Does the Google wallet work automatically when tapping the terminal, without hassle, and without error? Hovering my thumb over the fingerprint scanner with the screen off while tapping the reader couldn't be any easier. A blind monkey could do it. If I had to unlock my phone, find the app, activate nfc, and then enter the card password, all while standing there with a line of people behind me, I would never use it, and neither would the majority of people.

Yes, it does. Though the phone does need to be unlocked, but I don't really see that being any different than using the fingerprint reader. The physical wallet card (optional, but free) is also an added touch when dealing with merchants that don't accept NFC, with the added benefit of not ever being required to carry my debit or credit cards. Also being able to send/request money via gmail/wallet similar to PayPal. It stores all loyalty and gift cards you have and will alert you of nearby merchants and automatically pull up a notification showing a scannable barcode (depending on your location settings you choose).

There is one thing I would say apple pay may have over wallet, is that wallet does need to be unlocked via pin. I have my time out setting at 24 hours, after that it will continue to work, even without a data connection and without needing to open the app.

The thing I like most about apple pay becoming popular though, is I do see it helping with NFC payment adoption. That and people don't look at me weird anymore when I tap and pay with my phone.

Yeah. There's a serious battery issue at hand here. I used to consistently pull 8-10 hours of usage, with maybe 16 hours standby out of my plus. I use my phone hard all day long. Now, this is where I'm at. I pretty much have the same schedule every day. Work 12-14 hours, and repeat. I never had to pull out the car charger. Now, I'm basically dead when I get home every morning. Damn you, Apple.

I never knew Apple would make battery life recommendations in your settings menu. Have never seen that before now.

I left my phone off the charger last night and it barely lost any battery life. Maybe 3-5% which I think would be acceptable. It looks like it's screen on time that is causing something somewhere to drop battery life.

Beta Update: Battery life on 8.3 sucks as well. I've been getting just barely over 4 hours where as before I'd pull at least 6 sometimes If I'm lucky 7-8. Apple really has to fix this in the next beta update. Lord only knows when that's coming.

EDIT: Nevermind, it was because of Google Maps. Makes me want to be lost lol the battery drain is something serious.

Beat me to it. I was going to push a similar story from 9to5mac. Lol.

So many versions of software that are going to be coming out soon. Maybe they'll get one of them right.

My battery life sucks on 8.1.2. It dropped from 94 to 84 in about 4 1/2 hours, and I was sleeping. That was from 1am to 5-5:30. Then at 8:15, it was down to 74%. This is crazy, and where I'm at right now, the tower is literally across the freeway from me. -77 on LTE is great.

Hopefully something a lot sooner than that!

I'll keep you guys posted with the betas.

Right now my battery is at 72% with almost 3 hours of usage.

I'm at 45% with 4 hours and 48 minutes of usage which is about my regular. By 50% I'm usually at 5 hours of usage

I'm keeping mine plugged in to my 400w inverter, otherwise my car charger couldn't keep my battery charging.

That's crazy that your iPhone would require that much charge.

No, it doesn't. I've never had less than a 400w because sometimes I use my computer when traveling.

My car charger has a hard time charging my plus while it's being used. It actually dropped a percent instead of charging. I've had it for awhile (since my 5s) but I'm pretty sure I bought a 2.1a. Maybe it's only 1.0a and that's why.
