My favorite iOS 8 feature is continuity because now I don't silently judge people for making me have to go pick up my iPhone anymore when I get an SMS message. I can respond from my iPad or the desktop.

Sms relay is awesome. Unfortunately my "old" MacBook Pro can't do continuity with apps and what not. Thad alright though. I like answering on the computer. Very nice when I'm in class. And it even works with normal "texts." Gah

Almost everyone I know has an iPhone. I think 1 person I talk to has a moto x.

Shhh!  Don't tell AJ that...

Why not?  Go ahead and tell me.  It basically supports my point.  The iPhone is everywhere.  It is the hoi polloi phone, and its ubiquity/influence is a big part of what makes it annoying.  Popularity is not a moral good.  If anything, it is a manifestation of low culture.

You guys are going to hate me, but that sounds a lot like Google Voice integration.  Handset, tablet, laptop/desktop.  Not a new feature for Android users on Sprint.  It has been around for years.

;)

Don't take the bait guys - just let it go!

It is not bait.  My arguments are rational.  Good grief.

The google maps update today is phenomenal. It's beautiful looking. I was comparing it to the version on my m8. Google has made the iOS version nicer than their android version. That's sad, but great for us.

Rational?  This is from just the last few posts of yours in this thread...

  • "What is with the pandering to and popularity of the iPhone?  Seemingly, every user is either a so called expert or a wireless moron."
  • "Come on, the iPhone deserves the dislike it receives."
  • "The iPhone is everywhere.  It is the hoi polloi phone, and its ubiquity/influence is a big part of what makes it annoying.  Popularity is not a moral good.  If anything, it is a manifestation of low culture."

It's a shame that the ignore feature doesn't work on Tapatalk.

You have done nothing to show that my arguments are not rational.  They are supported by facts, observations, and reason.  That is, by definition, rational.

Despite what many think, S4GRU is not an Android worship site.  But it is not going to be an iOS support group -- especially with the damage that Apple's iPhone policies have inflicted upon the wireless industry and Sprint, in particular, over the years.

S4GRU does not host Sprint complaints.  But no rule prohibits Apple negativity.

(And this post is being written on a MacBook Air; not to mention, I own an iPad mini.  So, do not tell me that I lack the requisite perspective.)

AJ is being rational. Look what the iPhone did to AT&T's network, and the 4S did to Sprint. Not to mention the industry in general. The iPhone's popularity is the biggest nightmare for networks that can't handle the traffic. Even I admit the iPhone has been detrimental in ways.

Nothing is flawless in technology. NOTHING! And that's fortunate reality. When technology becomes flawless, then the machines will rule the world and we will be their slaves. We don't ever want to get to that point.

There is nothing rational about saying a product deserves to be disliked. It's just a phone.

I used to have an Android phone, but that doesn't give me carte blanche to go into every thread about them and talk about how Google is ruining privacy or whatever.

Anyway, this is far enough offtopic as it is, and since apparently disagreement can be a bannable offense, I'll drop the matter and move on.

Ok, lets get back on track.

Question. With the iPhone 6 and 6 + being much bigger than previous iPhones, have any of you put them in a case or kept it naked because you feel its already big in your hands.

So far everyone I've seen with an iPhone 6+ has it without a case.

Fire away.

Case. Good thing too because I've dropped it a few times already.

Its best not to annoy AJ. He has strong opinions and will back them up endlessly with well reasoned statements. Mix that with opinions that vary and all the fun of arguing dies.

I totally agree, I just wish there was a way to use Google Maps as the default Map though.

I want to hate my case, I really do. But two of my friends dropped their phones and cracked their screens. I have AppleCare, but they stupidly did not buy it even though I told them 10 times to get it. No insurance either.

So it scared me to putting one on.

Request for opinions, I read the iPad 2.1amp charger charges a 6+ much faster but do you think the battery life will be better with the standard charger? I mean the time before the battery needs replacing not how long one charge lasts.

It will not damage the phone or effect battery life.

I am actually using the iPad charger right now and prefer to use it when I need a quick charge because it'll charge me up to 90% from 5% in about 90 minutes or less, depending on if I am still using the phone.

Everything I've read about lithium ion batteries in smart phones, 2.1 amp has no negative effect on your battery. It's all I use anymore because it charges soooo much faster and I haven't noticed any negative ramifications on any of my phones / tablets.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and could potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.  — — — — — The old permit expired for this site without any work being done but a new permit was just approved a few days ago for a T-Mobile site at this address. Description mentions 3 antennas with 2 RRUs per sector. My guess is they're doing something similar to what they did at 360 Furman St in Brooklyn where they broadcast Band 2/66 and n25/41 from one antenna. It's a bit of a downgrade considering the site it's replacing was a full build with Ericsson 6449s.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
