Report: Sprint to offer flagship Sony phone

Wow that was such a let down for an event called "Demand Great".

Yep.  Sprint's not carrying either Z3 or Z3c.  I'm bummed about it.

I know - I've had an upgrade since august 1st and I'm just going to hold onto it for now.  Sony dropped the ball on this.

Same here, upgrade on hold since Aug 1st. Was hoping to upgrade to Z3 by end of this month.

Bummer.  First the 2014 Moto X, and now the Sony Z3 and Z3 Compact (Z3C) are in the late-and-maybe-never category for Sprint.  

 

I'm surprised we still see so many carrier exclusives today.  I would think a handset manufacturer would want to avoid them.  Not only do you drastically decrease the number of potential customers, but by the time you finally release the device to everyone else 3+ months later, there are already newer competitors on the market.  Timing is everything in the smartphone world.  For the most part there is a very short window of time where your device will be the leader in any particular category.

 

Of course, we all know that carriers *pay* for these exclusive agreements in order to make up for the lost sales.  But that must be a *lot* of money.  I'd be really curious to see the numbers behind these deals.

Welp, this deflated my sails.  I was hoping to use an upgrade on my account with a Z3.  Now I don't know what to do.  Honestly, my G2 is still a great phone so I don't need to upgrade.

That's why I switched to the family share plan. No need to feel guilty about sitting on an upgrade, instead each month that goes by I am just saving another $35...

So now Verizon and T-mobile are confirmed to carry it, and Sony is selling it unlocked directly on their website. Still no news for Sprint.

With the 6 month refresh cycle that Sony has, I highly doubt Sprint will carry it at this point.

Or they'll do like Verizon did, and bring the Z3 to Sprint in March as the "Z4s"

Wasn't it announced tho that sprint and softbank had a deal worked out to bring Sony device to them?
