Google Drive getting ready!...

Well evidently this thing is actually getting real close to being released to the masses. Google's Dropbox like competition called GDrive or Google Drive is rumored to launch in beginning of April...

...According to the details from my sources, Google is going to offer 1 Gb of storage space for free, but will charge for more storage. The market leader Dropbox currently offers 2 Gb for free. Google’s product will come with a local client and the web interface will look much like the Google Docs interface. Interestingly, it will launch for Google Apps customers and will be domain specific as well. Google has also built an API for third party apps with this service so folks can store content from other apps in the Google drive. My sources are impressed, so far with what they have seen....

What I think this will turn into is a more streamlined ability to FULLY backup your device in the cloud(Google Drive) seamlessly...The 1GB storage is a lil disappointing to me compared to Dropbox's, but as with anything this is still in the rumor phase and we wont know fully till its dropped...Even with the less amount of space I would imagine that Googles implementation would be much more fluid and better overall than Dropbox or any other competitor...

1gb for free? Is this some kind of joke? Even though drop box starts you out with 2gb you can get an addtional 3gb for free if you download the android app(by using the auto upload option) as well as getting additional free space by referring others to use dropbox, not to mention I also have a box.net account with 50gb of free space. Google should have started with at least 5 to 10 gb of space to entice others away from dropbox.

Box gives users 5GB for free and I got 50GB for free from them a year or so ago. 1GB is nothing now.

They do give 5gb for free but its not that hard to get it upgraded to 50gb at no cost.
