Tapatalk Update

Tapatalk Users:

I received an email this morning that Tapatalk has a new update to install on our server side.  I did that this weekend.  Also, Tapatalk pushed an app update recently too.  It's possible that many of the Tapatalk bugs (like notifications) have been fixed with this update.

Feel free to sound off on any observations you may have AFTER updating to the latest app version.  Please don't report any findings if you have not updated your app.  I'm definitely interested in seeing if their notifications started working.

Looks good from here. Try logging out and back in. If that doesn't work, I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and they appear to be working now.

Reinstalling the app seems to have fixed the issue on my phone. Thanks for the tip.

You can opt out of them inside the Tapatalk app.  When in Tapatalk, back out of S4GRU until you are at the Main Menu when you see all your forums listed (included S4GRU).  When there, hit the Menu button.  The only option that opens should be Settings.  Scroll down to the Image Load Preferences and unselect Topic Images.  Then go below that to the section called Load Preferences with Slow Connection and unselect Topic Images there too.

This gets rid of those obnoxious Tapatalk Topic Images that appear when you are scrolling through threads.

Wow. Thank you. I felt like we talked about this. But didn't see a solution until now. Thanks!

Can we use this thread to test out notifications, Robert? Will someone kindly quote me?

You've been quoted.  ;)

Now, I can have those email notifications turned off when I'm quoted, I just don't know how.

EDIT: Also, maybe the update they sent you did this, but clicking on a member's name now shows all of their information. Cool.

I've found a bug. When clicking from timeline onto a post, it'll kinda just throw you wherever in the thread instead of automatically placing you at the most recent post. I keep getting forced to scroll down or even switch pages to get to the most recent post.

I hate that. Anyone got a fix?

It's not a bug. Back out to the main tapatalk screen. Click settings, then under the posts section, change read order from first unread to most recent. I enjoy first unread because it lets you start where you left off. The server knows when you're scrolling through a thread, and sort of bookmarks it.

It looks like it has ADs now in between threads. Can't complain since it is free but just wish they didn't put them in annoying places.

Never seen this. They show up while browsing the forums, or everywhere? I'll leave mine in timeline all the time, have never seen an ad.

    • Someone told me a couple years ago, that there were problems getting certain modems to aggregate overlapping spectrum even if the overlapping parts were actually blanked. So I think there might be firmware issues that need to be resolved first, which T-Mobile might not consider worth the effort for 4MHz at this time.
    • Tbh not that surprising. Every ISP seems to want to have an MVNO to pitch to their customers to make them stickier and maybe make some money in the process. And unlike USCC the MVNO should be able to cover TDS's entire wireline area, with infrastructure costs that are borne by someone else. Entertaining, yes. Surprising, not really...particularly when competing against Comcast or Spectrum, or even eventually T-Mobile fixed + mobile. This also strengthens my bet that they'll rebrand all their fixed wireless stuff as TDS, as that runs on spectrum they're keeping for now.
    • No? RCS on Google messages works great for me, messages between anyone with RCS enabled go through with no problems. Don't remember the last time I had an issue. I only have issues with people on iPhones on different carriers from T-Mobile.
    • Has anyone experienced a ridiculous amount of difficulty with Google messages with RCS enabled?  It has been a train wreck for me for the past year so I now use WhatsApp.  That works very well for all of us.... Android and iOS.
    • Probably not worth the fiddling given that that's a few percent of the band. Also, if they really wanted to push my assumption is there are still guard bands in play for the n41 carriers so they could fit two "100 MHz" carriers into 194 MHz anyway. Looks like minimum guard band is less than 1 MHz and a 100 MHz channel is only 273 30 KHz resource blocks, which is a bit over 80 MHz total, so if they really wanted to pull another 5% or so capacity out they could.
