I had a dream

I was riding in a car, and every single cell tower i passed was being worked on, crews were on every single one, then i woke up

Happy Thursday

And the people in the streets below

Were dancing 'round and 'round

And guns and swords and Dish antennas

Lay scattered on the ground . . .

I had the most random after thought to this.

Sprint's commitment to safe living

"Trade in applicable firearm weapon and receive a free Galaxy S3 smartphone, with 2 year activation".

In all serious, slow data, dropped calls, i can see the rampage.  When these folks have access to unlimited Lte they will have to put the guns down  ;) .

I have a dream that one day Sprint will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all cell sites are to be upgraded.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be covered, every hill and mountain shall be covered, the rough places will be made smooth coverage, and the crooked places will be made solid coverage, and the glory of the LTE shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

Sadly, in the next few years, expect James Earl Cicconi of AT&T to assassinate me.

My dream would be that Dish drops their bid for Clearwire and Sprint/Softbank prevails.  Dish makes a bid for Tmobile and fails.  Dish then sells their S-band spectrum and sticks to cable.  That would make my day.

Dish will make a bid for T-Mobile, but not without Clearwire spectrum. They need Clearwire's plentiful spectrum for their fixed broadband plans.

The problem for Dish is that Sprint has their eyes on T-Mobile as well.

Pfft, you call that your dream? How is your dream to be taken seriously by the S4GRU faithful when you didn't even bother to mention a data cap, which any seasoned veteran reader here well knows is one of the most fundamental dreams you have.  It's...it's like you turned your back on your very soul AJ!   :o

Have no fear however, I took the liberty to fix it for you.  May your soul be at peace brother. B)

Not to mention AJ's other dream of wireless carriers leasing spectrum they use by market and re-evaluated on an annual basis.

I had a dream that I could hand off from LTE site to LTE site on my way to work for audio streaming ... Then I woke up and realized it might be a while before before they reevaluate this area.

I have a dream that all carriers will willingly become dumb pipes, high end handset prices will fall to the point that contracts are unnecessary and carriers will be forced to compete on monthly service value (coverage, speeds and rate plans) notwithstanding smart phome exclusives. Data will be the only service and the practice of charging for texts or voice as a seperate service will disappear.

Macronetworks will hand off seamlessly and securely to any and all consumer wifi networks without compromising the host consumer's service experience. Cable companies will be forced to upgrade their networks to all fiber to compete with the new nearly universally available google fiber service.

Ultimately my dream is that some day we will all be able to use the data services we love as they were intended when we want, where we want, and for an affordable price.

My dream would involve an EE type situation here in the US (or ACS/GCI situation like in Alaska for the rest of the US)... all the carriers get together to provide the absolute best network they can -- then they each market it however they want.

Even though you would lose choice as far as coverage is concerned, the mass network would have coverage pretty much everywhere, and the fastest data network available... not to mention the same frequencies required across phones...

I had a dream I could get Sprint in my BFE town. Yeah, I know it's a stretch, but calling what VZW has provided here "service" the last few months is also a stretch.

1-2-3.  It's easy.  It's so easy.  Like taking candy from a baby.

I have been pricing out 40GIG E connections and a few million $ in fiber layout charges lately so forgive my bias :o

I want to see spectrum used as efficiently as possible across the board.

I want to see more small state/regional providers, but only if they are willing to invest for the future.

industry innovation.

I dreamt of owning the upcoming infinity pad, packaged with 10 gigs of prepaid lte data @ 9.99! Then I dreamt a dream of buying the rumored Asus 7" for 99 bucks (not the memopad. The one rumoured to have a snapdragon 600)

    • Stopped by again today and the antennas are up but it isn't live just yet. If other Sprint conversions are anything to go by it'll likely take about a month for the site to go live.
    • It is an Android bug that was reportedly fixed in August 2023 but definitely has not been. I have implemented numerous workarounds in SCP to correct the NR bands the app displays. The OS ignores the possibility that many NR-ARFCNs are valid across multiple bands.. it reports the lowest NR band that is valid for the current ARFCN. In your example, channel 432530 can be n1, n65, or n66.. so the OS just (lazily) reports n1.   Awesome, thanks! I will add an n65 override also.
    • Yeah both of those instances were on my AT&T s22 ultra. Seems ro be working as intended today in latest release.
    • Interesting, I saw this too on my AT&T S22 while roaming on US Cellular. I thought it was an Android bug since CellMapper was doing the same thing (didn't get a screenshot of that one). N66 makes more sense than N1.
    • Thanks, that was good timing, I did see your report as I was buttoning up this latest update and added an override for that.. did it not work?   Ok, was that on AT&T also? Please send a report if you happen to see it again and safely have the opportunity. You can always do the long-press on the fly and then send a later one with an explanation pointing to the earlier one.. your username is attached to the long-press reports, so it's not an issue.
