Yea saw the location of that accepted tower on your map (the reason I took that route home). I was surprised wasn't expecting it to reach that far.

However the problem is htc one owners will run into is our phone, well the sprint version, only supports the older slower 1900mhrz band. And will not support the much faster 800 when sprint flips the switch on that band of lte so sadly we may not see the fastest speeds when it comes to data :-(

Two things.

First, RF performance has nothing to do with speeds. lilotimz's post is fairly accurate in assessment of RF performance. Just because it's slightly weaker on RF does not mean it will have slow speeds. Once connected, speeds will still be very fast.

 

Second, 800MHz LTE will not be faster than 1900. It will be the same configuration as Sprint's current PCS LTE, except in areas where the SMR spectrum is limited for Sprint. Therefore, it will have the same theoretical max of 37.5Mbps.

I could have sworn I read that the recently feed up 800 was going to be faster. I need to apologize for my lack of backup evidence as I cannot for the life of me remember where I read it.

800 will have better building penetration which in turn will give better service and better signal.

how come sprint didn't go the 5x10mhz route?

Because Sprint only owns ~14 mhz of SMR spectrum in most of the country which allows for one 5x5 mhz LTE carrier  and one 1.5x1.5 CDMA 1xA carrier. Some areas have spectrum squatters or other entities owning slices of the SMR spectrum (there were no build out requirements for SMR) thus Sprint reduces to 3x3.

No phones support 800 LTE at this moment. There are tri-band LTE dongles announced and soon to be on sale though. FIrst tri-band lte phones are expected around september time frame or Q3/Q4.

It's not 5x10. It's 10x10 as that indicates that there are 10mhz dedicated for upload and 10 mhz dedicated for download (75 / ~25 DL -UL). Easy answer? They bought the entire 700 block for several billion dollars. 

 

 

-- Side Note -- Sensorly showing 4G in Rancho Cordova which is way out of range (i think) of the accepted LTE cell site way south of mather. Could be another site approaching completion around Rancho Cordova so keep your eyes out  and sensorly running over there.

Rule of thumb is, almost every phone sold since late 2011 supports 800mhz 1x voice, so you instantly get enhanced voice coverage. No devices support 800mhz LTE yet.

I maped some lte on my way to work on Sunrise for about 3/4 mile but it was more towards Grand Line, I don't see it on sensorly? I didn't pick up any lte between Grant Line and Calvine like a did yesterday..

 

EDIT: i see it now had to zoom out lol

I went out to calvine and Bradshaw last night and drove all the way up Bradshaw till grant line and couldn't get an lte signal anywhere. . I had sensorly mapping my route the entire time as well

Because you driving "up on bradshaw till grant line" meant you went south whereas the cell site with LTE is up north over on jackson road (highway 16)... I'm pretty sure one tend to not get a LTE signal if you're driving away from it...

Bradshaw road are covered by other sites and that sector is possibly set for a higher downtilt than the ones facing grant line road. The area towards grant line / sunrise are more rural so the downtilt are probably not set as high as the one facing bradshaw which are more residential.

Yep. Downtilt, in very simplistic terms, is basically the angle that the antenna is pointed at the ground.
