Network Vision/LTE - Tucson/Yuma Market

The signal you were receiving was, more than likely, coming from a Sprint cell site on the NW corner of S Pantano/E Irvington - antennae are mounted on a TEP high tension tower about halfway up.

It's far more likely to be fringe signal from Broadway/Harrison than a new site broadcasting, no matter how much I'd prefer it to be a new site broadcasting. That tower is throwing LTE half way to Mt Lemmon.

This also highlights the importance of engineering screenshots. Please report new coverage responsibly. ;)

LOL...I know...I know...I was running a little late into the office and didn't want to test my "I"m a bad a$$ multi tasker" attitude while driving.  Although in my defense I DID sensorly map it...

I wasn't picking on you at all. I've sensorly mapped 4 sites now and only grabbed engineering for 1, and for the same reason. I'm just as guilty ;)

Hello All!

Long time luker and avid supporter here of mapping and locating info for my fellow customers. My name is E.J. and I work for Best Buy inside of the Park Place Mall. I currently have Virgin Mobile's $35 plan. I can personally attest that even Virgin is getting 4G LTE just like all of the other Sprint customers ;^) Also there isn't a data cap that I have hit yet. I'm a HIGH data user and love this new 4G speeds!

So I've been going to each tower and testing their signals for distance and for download and upload rates. So far I have seen that the tower on 18th and Park Ave is currently offline for 4G. I'm sure it'll be on sometime soon though. Also on my side of town(Golf Links and Prudence) I have seen in many areas that the eHRPD has been switched over to EV-DO rev. A. I have good feelings that is a good sign and lots of work will start to happen around some of the towers on the East Side!

Well thats about it for my intro. If any of you have any questions or requests(I use a scooter to do my Sensorly mapping so I have no problem mapping with 85 mpg lol) feel free to shoot them my way!

-E.J.

Glad to see you post!

Now... you may want to remove your phone # from the devices/phones part of your profile. Unless you *want* a bunch of geeks and nerds calling you ;)

They seem to be re-tuning the sites they've lit up to throw signal halfway across town. Dunno what the end game is on this, but when I mapped 1st/glenn it ran out at Roger. Now sensorly shows a track down 1st all the way to freakin Ina, and it doesn't look like a new tower. Yeesh.

The day that site went live I was able to get a signal at 1st and River, then it started dropping out. The day after when it was still active at night I was able to get a signal near River and La Canada from it.

It is entirely plausible in my mind that the 1st/Glenn site, in the middle of the night, would be able to throw a signal that far with no one using it. Remember, at this point there are not nearly as many LTE devices active as 3G devices, there are a LOT of users that don't care about 4G or that just use old phones because they don't care about the latest and greatest.

Man, i hope they get another batch of towers up soon.. My excitement is getting chipped away ever time i drive around the whole north west side and get nothing. There were people all over the roof of the bank of the Ina and La Cholla one but noting came from that. I wish they would get the ones by the I-10 up so we don't look completely pathetic by the people driving through.

I've mapped with sensorly the track up 1st Avenue almost to Ina road. The 4G was constant all the way up. I believe the only reason there is 4G there is because it is going up hill and has line of sight to the Glen tower

by the way, I mapped this track in the middle of the day this weekend.  It is just up the hill overlooks the valley.

    • What device is that on?
    • Been in Japan for the past few days, and I'm about to leave today. Google Fi/Tmus roaming in Japan only had Softbank LTE, so it was pretty slow in busy areas, especially HND (albeit usable in most places). When I got to Osaka, I bought a KDDI native SIM from Aerobile, which is an esim reseller based in Taiwan. With this au/KDDI SIM, I could get NR, and that really improved the network experience here. Even though my phone is missing many ENDC combos here, having b1 + n77 or b3 + n77 or b41 + n78 really helps out with the congested LTE network here. As a bonus, 4cc n257 also works on my s24, and I've reached peaks of 2gbps with it. I'm heading to China today, so hopefully Google Fi supports 5G on whatever carrier they roam on in the mainland. If not, I'll probably be stuck on congested LTE like the first couple of days in Japan.
    • Mike, I just noticed on my S22 Ultra when connected to Verizon n261 SCP is reporting it as n257. I don't see mmwave very often and I didn't notice it at the time I was connected to it. Not sure if it matters but I'm on Visible.
    • Here's my personal best, as well as the maximum speed I was able to get over 5gbps USB tethering. Millimeter wave is definitely a lot of fun, and I wish AT&T and T-Mobile would deploy a lot more of it.
