Im making a assumption that we wont see anything going on until October maybe later. Regardless as long as i know we are even being considered before some markets, I'll be happy.

I believe work is starting. However, I would be surprised if we see anything completed in the next 30 days. I believe Memphis was on Sprint's 100 city list. So we know it's coming sooner than later.

Thanks for the quick replies. Problem is that I recently moved and i cannot get cable internet or dsl. Basically my options are satellite internet or sprint service. By the maps i have seen I have one tower ab a mile from my house. Using open signal maps i keep connecting to one ab 2 miles south of me.

With NV does that stretch the towers coverage area?

Open Signal maps is a very unreliable source for locating sites. However, we do have maps in the Sponsor section of our site that shows every Sprint site in the country.

 

In rural conditions, you may be able to get Sprint LTE out about 2-3 miles. But the performance may be iffy. If your 1x signal strength is worse than -95dBm, you'll likely not get a very good Sprint LTE signal it not at all once your area is built out.

 

But beyond all that, only smartphone data is unlimited. Tethering is limited to data caps, which I believe the largest cap is 12GB. That's not very much for home usage. Sprint is expected to crack down on unauthorized tethering on their LTE network.

I believe Memphis and Knoxville were both on the list for the 100 cities from Sprint. We hopefully should be seeing something soon. I haven't seen any people upgrading the towers here in Knoxville, but I always check, haha.

alright i went to sprints newtork site and the antenna is roughly 1.5 miles away my signal inside my house varies from -92 - -102dbm. What do you think guys? Talked to the wife and i am getting satellite internet. Airrave wont work with that internet so i just trying to figure out if i can get decent signal down here for calls and even just 3g. When i get paid ill send some money your way. What is the going rate needed to help ya out and get me sponsor level thats not a slap in the face to you but doesn't kill my wallet either.

I hope Memphis gets upgraded soon. I am really frustrated with Sprint's coverage here. My data speeds are horrible. I just did a test and got 0.42 Mbps download and 0.23 Mbps upload. That is one of the better results I have received. I have a Samsung Epic 4G Touch, so I know I won't get 4G when Memphis is upgraded but I sure hope my data speeds pick up.

If you guys ever come across someone who finds a new LTE location, especially in a new market, always encourage them to run Sensorly and post it. That way we can all see it and verify it. :tu:

Dish network's "dishnet" launched a few days ago and claims 5mb down with a 10gb cap for $40 a month. $10 discount if u subscribe to tv. For an average user, thats not bad at all. Sprint is not suited to replace an isp now or anytime in the future.

And HughesNet just launched their "Gen4" service with 20, 30 or 40GB for $50, $80 and $100 respectively. Of course, half of that data bucket is from 2AM - 8AM every day. They advertise download speeds up to 15Mbps and upload speeds up to 2Mbps.

I just now caught this, and I envision this turning very bad pyro. Batman will likely sue you for copyright infringement, and Thor will just flat out thrash you.

 

Maybe you'll luck out though and they turn out to be latched to Big Red.

I seen the guy that posted he had lte but he didn't post location!!! More than likely... He was either downtown, Frazier, or in Germantown! I get about 1.5 down and like 800 up consistently in orange mound.... So he may have been by a sprint store or close to one o_O

Tonight I was sitting in the parking lot of a Shell gas station with a Burger King in Cordova on HWY64 and switched my phone to airplane mode and back because data stopped working, and to my surprise when it came back online my phone locked onto a 4g signal with 1 bar for several minutes. I lost the signal when in left the parking lot, but it looks like progress is being made in Memphis.

I got it to lock again and tried to do a speed test, but I lost the signal in the middle of it. I can't seem to get it to lock again to run sensorly.

 

Edit: I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus not the Ego LTE.

      Kind of amazing that T-Mobile is still holding onto that speed title despite Verizon all but killing off lowband 5G on their network. While Verizon is mostly being evaluated on mmWave and C-band performance, T-Mobile and AT&T's average 5G speeds include their massive lowband 5G networks that are significantly slower.

      Yup. Very true. We were originally on an Everything Data 1500 Plan, which got Unlimited Minutes thanks to Marcelo's "Loyalty Benefits" offer. We then switched to Unlimited Freedom (with the Free HD add-on that Sprint originally wanted $20/month per line for.... remember that?) because the pricing was better with "iPhone for Life", vs. the "Loyalty Credit" for staying on a Legacy Plan. After that, I ran the numbers and switched us over to Sprint MAX, especially for the international travel benefits. There's absolutely no reason for us to switch to Go5G Plus or Go5G Next if we're going to do BYOD by purchasing from Apple/Samsung/Google directly as we've been doing. These new plans aren't priced for current customers to switch to. They're priced for new customers, where they throw in a free line, etc. It's gone from "Uncarrier" to "Carrier". What a shame.

      Strange business model that they keep around all these pricing plans. 1000s of plans per carrier is reportedly not uncommon.  Training customer support must be a nightmare. Even MVNOs have legacy plans. A downside of their contract mentality I guess. Best to change contracts during a recession. But then all carriers try to squeeze out legacy plan benefits as they grow old.

Because of the Credit Limit that T-Mobile put on our account for no reason at all (and wouldn't change/update the last time I checked all the way up to the CEO), I don't plan on buying/upgrading our iPhones through T-Mobile. I'm going through Apple directly. Looks like I'll be going through Google and Samsung directly for our other lines for upgrades. Also, we're staying on Sprint Max given the ridiculous pricing for Go5G Plus. On Sprint Max, we currently pay for our Plan: $260 for 7 Voice Lines $25 for two Wearable Lines. (One is $10/Month. The other is $15/Month because the AutoPay discount only applies up to 8 lines.) Total: $285/Month vs. Go5G Plus (Per the Broadband Facts "nutrition label" on the T-Mobile Website): https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce/cell-phone-plans $360 - ($5 AutoPay Discount x 7 Voice Lines) = $325 The Watch Plans show as either $12/Month or $15/Month: https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/affordable-data-plans/smartwatches So this is about the same for the wearables as what we're paying now. Overall, it's quite more than we're paying now to switch plans. Ridiculous....
