Find LTE status for a specific tower?

I have used opensignalmaps to determine that my EVO original 3G is connected to tower identified as SSID= 7891 SID = 4120. How can I found out if LTE service has been activated at that specific location. I am ready to upgrade my phone, but it is pointless if there is still no LTE in my vicinity. Thanks.

At this point in time I don't think any of those types of apps are gonna be able to give you the information that you are looking for. Let me ask you though, what is the closest intersection to you?

 

Also keep in mind that Dallas is a first round market that is currently live and further lte expansion should happen very quickly.

Looks like in that general area there several sites scheduled to go live between now and october. If you bought an lte device right now more than likely it would be hit or miss IMO. You could always go to the closest sprint store and see if any of the lte devices are getting a signal.

My tower has had 3G, and 800mHz upgraded. I was looking in the engineering screen and it showed I was connected to LTE even though my phone wasn't showing 4G? Had a IP address and when I moved to different areas the signal changed. Was LTE blocked, or am I crazy?

I've had this occur when I've lost an LTE signal on a Samsung device. Your signal here was really weak, at the edge of service for that LTE cell. So you may have had an LTE connection and didn't notice the icon from moment before, and now it is in the process of dropping, or you've connected to LTE, but your device will not hand over the data connection to it because it keeps going in and out.

No, you were not connected to LTE.  The MCC-MNC (151515-1515), uplink EARFCN (83535), and downlink EARFCN (65535) are not valid.  Those are just placeholders.

Well, you were not connected to LTE at the time, though you may have been connected to LTE from another site just prior to that time.

 

At the very least, the downlink EARFCN is a null result, as 65535 is the largest possible 16 bit integer.  And I have seen the same null result on an HTC engineering screen shortly before or after an actual LTE connection.

I've seen that screenshot many times.  The 1515 deal is the radio doing an LTE scan.  The -18.4 SNR is the default for no LTE.  The serving cell will stay populated with the last one you were connected to.

The Sensorly maps show Sprint LTE coverage in that area, although not as strong as any of us would want. You would probably get an LTE connection outside, but from inside a building a device would most likely switch to 3G.

 

The above was my situation at my office near 121 & the Tollway until about a week ago Sprint turned on a brand new tower near that intersection.

 

The sponsor area contains separate a maps that show Sprint tower sites regardless of upgrade status, and another map showing what changed at each upgraded tower site.
