  1. I checked for permitting today for the tower about .5 miles from my house in Conover and bam! Permit applied for and issued today by Catawba County! http://inspector.cat...30307214533.htm
  2. I knew the I-40 corridor between Statesville, NC and Hickory had some seriously bad spots and now the maps prove it. This really isn't acceptable on an Interstate traveled so heavily by commercial and commuter traffic. I hope JeffDTD has the right idea. This really proves the deficiencies in Sprint's existing network. With the terrain around here, I don't think 800SMR will fill in the native coverage gaps as much as I was hoping.
  3. Come on Hickory and Conover! I'm anxious since the towers listed in the Sponsor map as 3G/4G and 3G/4G/800 for Southern areas of Hickory and the site in Newton aren't Live yet. I guess they are simply "Accepted."
  4. Something is going on around here (Hickory/Newton/Conover) as I've had to switch to CDMA Only to use 3G data. If I leave my EVO set to LTE/CDMA, my 3G indicator has a stuck up arrow (see below) and cannot access data at all. As soon as I switch to CDMA Only, BAM!.. 3G data with no issues. Something that I've noticed is my Pings are now 125ms or lower, but my speeds still stink at around 200kb/s or slower. Does anyone know if this is indicative of anything?
  5. Excellent! I see you mapped it on Sensory, or perhaps someone else did. It's a shame that LTE has been accepted at the SE/SW Hickory and Newton, NC towers, but it isn't live yet. I'm having horrible issues with connecting to 3G/EVDO in Hickory. All I get on my EVO LTE is a 3G indicator with a stuck ^ up arrow indicator. It will not connect until I get to a legacy tower. It's really irritating.
  6. No 4G LTE in Hickory from CR04AW448 just yet I cycled airplane mode numerous times from different locations within 1/4 to 1/2 mile of the tower as well as about a mile away. I do have an entry in my LTE Available file from SID 4376 NID:1 BSID 4913 which I believe is CR04AW448. Later this evening, I drove to Newton, NC (CR03AW135) which is now showing as a NV 3G/800/4G complete tower. My report is that no LTE was available and EVDO Rev A topped out at 146ms, 235kbps Down / 506kbps Up. These numbers do not seem to be in line with most post-NV results I've seen posted here. Also, no new LTE record in my LTE available file. I will check these locations again tomorrow or later this weekend. I'm not disappointed, but I am eager to get my slice of LTE heaven
  7. I'm gonna try to map the SE Hickory area tonight. At least get a purple spot on there in the next hour or so. I should be within distance from my workplace, but it just didn't want to connect.
  8. I see a new spot popped up on Sensorly in Granite Falls today. Way to go Sprint! Is it safe to say that: CR03AW146 and CR04AW123 are 4G complete?
  9. unccjester, I have a CMTS ticket already open for extraordinarily slow data speeds at my place of work in Hickory. Perhaps I can mention this when I call back for further "troubleshooting" tomorrow. They want to get more info from the debug screen on my phone, but it has to be lack of capacity at the surrounding two towers.
  10. So close to my home in Conover but so far away. I traveled that stretch of I-40 last night with Sensorly running, but I'm not sure that was me as it didn't show on the map until today. Also, along that stretch between Claremont and Statesville, my 1X/EVDO signal was so bad (no bars at times) that I'm surprised I didn't switch to roaming. Either Sprint has some panels down or my EVO 4G LTE is messed up (unlikely). I realize that is hilly terrain, but there are plenty of towers Sprint should consider co-locating along that stretch. Claremont (Exit 135) needs a Microcell mounted on top of the Super 8 Hotel to cover that stretch of I-40 and that area. It is practically a dead zone as the signal is extraordinarily bad outdoors and completely lost if you go indoors, like at Boxcar Grille or Lowe's Foods.
  11. vandi, This is why they are grouped together: Metropolitan (Micropolitan) Statistical Areas: http://en.wikipedia....atistical_areas
  12. Well this really sucks for Sprint customers who roam in NC, SC and other states where Alltel has coverage and Sprint doesn't. Heck, I think there are areas around here where Verizon doesn't have native coverage and roams on Alltel.
  13. I drove out the the "LTE Accepted" tower on I-40 at Exit 141 (Between Hickory and Statesville) and came up with nothing on my EVO LTE (JellyBean). I cycled airplane mode and restarted the phone to no avail Drove away from the tower about 3/4 of a mile and still nothing. Another issue I found was that Sprint's service along I-40 becomes non-existent between Exit 138 heading West to Exit 135 (Claremont). It picks up again just West of Exit 135 and connects to the tower in Conover at Exit 132. There is a tower in Claremont just South of I-40 with Sprint service - (http://binged.it/XPpyh1), American Towers Photo: https://ftptower.ame...12_03_47_58.jpg, but I can't tell if those are Sprint Panels/RRU's or not. One more angle: http://www.americantower.com/SiteLocator/PhotoViewer.aspx?lngSiteId=12525&towerId=0&towerNumber=85527&country=united+states&ATFileId=12756708. Here is the American Towers Brochure for the site: http://www.americant...wernumber=85527 Claremont/Exit 135 is currently a Sprint dead zone. Any thoughts on this tower and the photo and if those are Sprint Panels?
  14. I see a new LTE spot has popped up near Lake Norman (Cornelius Area) and just south of Belmont. Keep 'em coming A/L!
  15. Ah ratz! Thanks Dkoellerwx, I should have known to look for that. Oh well, disregard then Thanks for the report, aglutz. Now if they can just start working their way North, that would be great.
  16. Any chance you had the Sensorly app installed and running to help map out the CLT market? If not, please consider helping with the mapping out of this deployment by downloading and installing Sensory. Even if you just have it set to passive mapping, it would be wonderful. You can also set it to actively map which is even better! Thanks.
  17. I just noticed a new Sensorly spot has appeared at Crowders Mountain State Park.
  18. I see a new blip on the Sensorly map, just southeast of Gastonia, NC. Alcatel-Lucent is definitely moving at a good pace it seems. I'd like to see them move north a bit though.
  19. Started seeing EHRPD here in the Hickory/Conover area this past Sunday. Looking forward to seeing some LTE goodness in the coming month(s).
  20. Any fellow S4G'ers in the Carol Stream/Glendale Heights area? My sister, brother-in-law, nephew and mother live in that general area and they are having a heck of a time making/receiving calls. It's been happening since June and that area seems to be bordered to the south by legacy towers which is causing their issues. They are ticked off and want me to call Sprint to cancel their lines and be released ETF free. I keep trying to reassure them it will get better, but that central section of Chicagoland seems to be late in the game to get NV Does anyone know how much longer before that area to gets some NV love?

    Bent my EVO LTE

LMAO, you all need looser fitting pants so you can keep it in your front pocket. I may look silly, but I use a Seidio Active Case/Holster combo so I don't have to worry about butt-curving my phone
  22. I've lost 3G a couple of times lately and I can't help but wonder if some preliminary work is being done to prep for NV but I have not seen any visible evidence of this at my local tower site. I've notice my pings have dropped closer to the lower ~110-130ms range depending on the server. Previously I could never get lower than ~180ms. This makes me wonder if the new backhaul has been connected to the existing pre-NV equipment. Speeds still drop down to about 300Kb/s at peak times though. I cannot wait to have a better/faster network.
  23. Thanks Andrew, you made it very easy to understand, thanks for the clarification. I look forward to future articles from you.
  24. Another thread, but over at SU mentioning a new Airave... http://sprintusers.c...ad.php?t=229727
