  1. Garbage. Downtown Chicago is front and center right now with Nik Wallenda walking the high wire now on the Discovery Channel. Bad data experiences downtown I'm sure right now.

    Sent from my iPhone 6

I went down for that nik wallenda thing, I was connected to band 41(clear site). I had no issues and also went for a drink in jewelers row, no issues at all. The network handled fine, no issues with calls or texts and I did a few speed tests. I got 6-8 during the peak and was able to stream video from discovery channel and a few news channels while waiting. Overall I was happy, I was almost expecting to see 3g like speeds, Thankfully I didn't :)

  2. The B41 site closest to me seems to have a signal reach equivalent to a sprinkler.  I'm not complaining though -- it provides ample speed to me.  It's capacity discipline at its finest.

It's a Clear site (and former Nextel site) with microwave backhaul, so my theory is that it's tuned so it doesn't get too saturated.

If it is band 41 clear, it won't go that far. If it is sprint 8t8r band 41, that distance will be just a little less then band 25 after it is tuned and powered up to full strength

  3. oh its stated it is triband but its not going to be compatible with a certain frequency that is "hyped up"?

It doesn't have all the frequencies that are part of the new cca/rrpp, that is what everyone on s4gru wanted. If you haven't read about that, here is the article about that also http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-367-will-lte-service-on-rural-roaming-preferred-program-partner-networks-be-native-coverage-for-sprint-customers/

  4. Thanks for that info. So I was reading somewhere the Note 4 isn't Tri-Band either? I so want the Note 4. And when you guys refer to "backhaul provider" are you referring Sprint or the company who builds the Towers or is that like a broadband provider who actually owns the Fiber Optic hard wir?

A good write up on the note 4 http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-376-sprints-galaxy-note-4-all-you-need-is-scented-candles-massage-oil-and-barry-white-write-that-down/

  5. wow, that is an amazing win! Haha wow!! B41 will be started by summer, id imagine. When they took down the old antennas, they put up the equipment to hold the clearwire antennas :)

We got a schedule and accepted map of sprint 8t8r. So you could know about what time frame 8t8r will be going up and what has been accepted so far. If you upgrade to Premier Sponsor. Sadly the only thing I can tell you is that sprint is deploying 8t8r all over the united states. This I know sometimes can be a big step up from just being a member, but it is so worth it. I know a few guys who have went from member straight to Premier and they love being Premier member. They have not once regretted it :)

  6. I wouldn't say the whole market has been optimized, yet I know some areas have. There was areas that I use to drive in, that I use to see 3g all the time and it is now band 26. I do believe that they have a lot of sites at the same power as when they turned them on, I know some areas could use stronger signal and band 26 could provide better coverage with stronger power levels. Give it time, it will only get better with time :)

  7. I'm just gonna give it time for now. I tried again last night, even drove right up to the building where the antenna is located. Nothing there or anywhere around there. In fact, my signal check pro app seems to invariably show that anytime I'm in a known band 41 coverage area that I am only connected to band 25. Is this possibily just a signal check error with the one?

Did you have just band 41 enabled and all the other bands disabled. Because if you didn't, then your at the mercy of what the networks picks for you.

  8. Have you verified that its actually enabled?  I know at one point my m8 had band 41 disabled for whatever reason but once I enabled it every thing was fine.  ##3282#, view mode, then click on lte and see what bands are enabled.  If you click on edit mode then you will need your msl number to proceed to make the adjustment manually.

mine changed after a prl update, I didn't notice it until I looked at the screen. I am glad I did, because now I can help track the 8t8r sites :D

  9. No I will try to get one but I was looking at the Signal Check Pro. Pekin Usually has very high LTE speeds on 1900 LTE but that only usually gets to 32 Mbs I have never reached 40+ Mbs before. Also it was at 1 bar of service which was weird in itself because the tower isn't even a quarter mile from Menards. But I will try to get a signal Pro screen shot for you guys. This was also on an HTC One Max.

    Austin

It probably means they are testing the tower and it is a low power setting. I am glad to here you guys are finally getting the speeds you deserve, central Illinois has been hit with bad data speeds for way to long.

  10. No.  Not all fiber can have capacity added remotely.  It depends on how the provider has their network set up.  Also, in some instances, they fiber spur line can handle more traffic and has spare strands, but the trunk line that it is connected to cannot.  There are just lots of variables involved and we cannot say any blankets statements that cover all instances related to backhaul.

But it is true to say, more often that not, that extra backhaul capacity can be added to a site with a phone call and a ticket at a direct fiber site.  And this is true of some AAV sites, depending on capacity.

crazy backhaul, always making things hard lol

  11. any recommendations on Android?  Switching back, not a fan of Apple

I have had a htc evo lte, samsung galaxy s3 and now I am on the htc one m8. I honestly like them all, The s5 and htc one m8 pretty much the same device. Just two different companies. I like the front speakers, that is what I love about htc devices and the audio is better on them. I hear the LG 3 is great too, as long as it is spark device. You really cant go wrong on any android device

  12. Hello everyone:

I was a Sprint customer from 2011-2013. I tried to ride off the storm but eventually could not stand the slow data speeds from Sprint so I paid the ETF and jumped over to at&t. Tremendous improvement.

So now Sprint has been catching my attention with some great new deals and I am tempted to switch back but the main questions is: has Sprint improved?

Is their data and calling much better? Are data speeds reliable and fast?

I live in NYC and I would appreciate everyone's input. I don't want to switch and later regret it. Please be honest and don't trash Sprint either.

I know they are still working on their network but I would switch back only if their network and data speeds have improved.

Sprint in general is better and still improving. I would switch back or get a new number/line with sprint to try out for a week or two, if it doesnt work out, then return the phone and keep att. If it works great, then port your numbers over.

Yes it has!! I would do what gr8nuguy says, and do the trial period with a new phone number. Make sure it is a spark phone, which most of them are, I think you will enjoy the way sprint is going and it is only getting better :D
