  1. Sprint closed the uscc specturm deal on may 17 2013 and they sunset the chicago market on january 31 2014. The nextel network was shut down june 2013. I am sure that band 26 was spotted first before second channel was turned on, seeing how they had almost 6 months lead time from the time they turned off the nextel network until the uscc network was shut down.

  2. Cubbiefan82 might be busy. Cubbiefan82 said bedore logs are ok. It just may take a while to get through due to schedule.

Yea the beginning of the week is always busy for me, everything tends to slow down by today. So I hope to get to them tonight. Thanks for sending them to me :)

  3. A lot of things can happen in a year and there is no guarantee of what will happen.

What will happen is the implementation of lte advance software that helps optimizes the network without expensive and time consuming drive tests but who knows when those type of software will be implemented.

At this stage sprint is still mostly depends on Ericsson for network maintenance and optimization and we all know great they are.

I would spam the hell out of the sprint zone app to report the issues you're experiencing if all else fails sounds like either an issue with the cell sites or your device.

    Sent from my Nexus 5

there is one more year left on the Ericsson network management deal right?

  4. Sprint did really good in my eyes, they 13.09 mbps and 7.55 on the upload that is good speed. I don't agree with the call drop rate though, I never had dropped a call in chicago. I always had 4 to 5 bars in all areas for sprint, so that one confuses me.  Yet, still the rating is a good one. It shows a good improvement and it is only getting better :P

  5. Trying to decide whether to switch to Sprint, live in Chatham and work in Springfield SW side. Is spark active on B41 like sprint claims and if so what are the average speeds?

Welcome to S4GRU, I don't live in your area. But what I would do, is to use the sprint 14 day trial. Drive all over and see for yourself. Sprint is improving every day and will only be getting better in time :D. Consider donating some money, with a small donation. You can get access to where the towers are, it will help you make a better decision over all.

  6. All that is coming, airports seem to be the last in any market to see upgrades. Must be difficult to get approval to get equipment, workers etc. in there.

The FAA doesn't like people on the airport, without a background check and a few other things. My company was at a converted military base airport, no airline traffic and we had to get finger-printed. Background checks and airport id's just to be on the airport. So I can only imagine what the contractors have to go though.

  7. I just got back from montana. I came in on i90 from Idaho and drove to Bozeman and it was all roaming. Does anyone have any idea yet as to the timeframe of the project?

I also believe that sprint will not turn on the sites until they have gotten backhaul to the sites(via microwave, aav, fiber). Seeing how rural montana is, that could take awhile. They did the same thing with the uscc sites to sprint sites in midwest, they waited until they had backhaul turned on. Then started turning them on, I wouldn't be surprised if they turned them on in clusters too.

  8. It previously was Band 25 LTE only. It sounds like they upgraded it to B26 and B41. That second carrier from the clear site across the street was only active during the world series as far as I've been able to tell. Haven't seen it since.

You wonder if it needs the second carrier from the clear site now?? The das will be doing most of the work now, instead of the macro site, at least until playoffs. I know a lot of people don't tail gate as much for the baseball as they do for the football lol

  9. Its by far the most I've seen any B41 site cover, about 2 1/2 square miles, which translates to a ton of users. It is very impressive.

It does have the benefit of being at the highest point in the area.

Sounds like this site needs second carrier, sooner then later.

  10. Received some sad news today from an executive rep at Sprint for Yuma. No updates or upgrades are scheduled until 2017.. That's a bummer

I doubt that, sprint is going crazy with 8t8r and upgrading a lot of areas in arizona already. I don't believe the 2017 date, Yuma is getting hit hard with slows speeds. That is why I doubt it, sprint is going crazy with heavy/overloaded sites with upgrades.

  11. Yeah, it's tough to cover Disneyland when AT&T is the exclusive carrier with network gear inside the park. It's like covering a city with just towers pointing from outside the city.

The latest RootMetrics report for Fresno is out. While Sprint is still suffering in terms of data due to lack of Spark (still a big improvement vs last time), they are a very solid 2nd place for calling and texting. Score should be nice once 800MHz and 2.5GHz LTE bands are completely rolled out.

In other news, if you live in Fresno you might want to avoid Verizon, the least reliable carrier, especially if you care about making and receiving calls and texts. Can you hear me now?

    :frantic:

I am glad sprint beat verizon, but a little shocked verizon did so bad. I think sprint is starting to take over the "most reliable network" claim :D

  12. For everyone that isn't premier sponsors, now is the time to become one. I know Robert is doing a tax time special, The Chicago premier forum will be tracking the second carrier of band 41.You will be able to see which 8t8r  sites have verified/confirmed second carrier. Such great news for Chicago, love how this market is coming along and becoming the staple for other markets :D
