  1. First off, I am new to the site  :) . Secondly, what is a acceptable amount of money to donate to the site? I am a college student and obviously funds are a little low at the moment but I am willing to give some money to help in any way possible. I want to be able to see the upgrades in my area honestly so that I can make the best educated decision on when I should switch my wife and I back to Sprint. Thanks guys!!

Welcome to the site!! What part of the united states do you live in??

  2. I didn't check field test but on my iPhone I had 4/5 bars. Likely VZW on the antenna by the tracks.. Colocated with a WiMAX tower.. That's not B41 or colocated... Take a hint Marcelo!! [emoji20]

I am sure they will be putting up 8t8r where the wimax is, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do a whole network vision setup on it or at least a small cell.  Considering chicago is a focus city and they will be working on small cells along with 8t8r :D

  3. I actually was using the Sprint's website to see what they had to show what they considered my area to be.  I take everything they have to say with a grain of salt.  I used the interactive map on the sponsor's side to see what they had listed for the towers in my area, that's where I saw that it listed 3G/LTE/4G.  I just wanted to know if there was a way to see if B41 was there. I guess I'll "hop" over to those towers because $100 seems to be a bit expensive on a somewhat simple question.  Thanks for your help stuckinohio1.

Sprint did a weird thing with coverage maps about a week or so ago, They covered about 95 percent of the chicago market in turbo and it is far from being turbo. Maybe in 6 months after all the 8t8r get installed it will be. But not right now, a lot of turbo areas. I still get 3g in, So I am glad you take sprint coverage map with a grain of salt. I don't know why sprint still hasn't learned. The average consumer looks at sprints maps before they buy. I will say, it is nice that you can actually zoom in and see what type of coverage you will get on the voice side. You have do that with some over carriers *cough* big red *cough* *cough* big blue

  4. I was in time squares last year on my htc evo, 4g lte wasn't fully deployed in that area then, I was on 3g in the hotel which was in time square. It was good for how many people were there. So putting b26/b41 in the mix, just makes it even better for network balancing in my mind. The sites in new york are so close together, that sprint will fair out pretty good :D

  5. Is that true even if you zoom in all the way?

I can't wait to get back up to Chicago or over to KC. I was in awe of the coverage and speeds in Indy!

Yea! I noticed it the other day, some of the areas that are listed turbo. I fall on to 3g also, even outside. Don't get me wrong, Chicago market is overall farther ahead then other markets. We do have problem areas, But I know they are getting worked on. I seriously know that by the end of summer, we will have a even stronger network then we do now with ca and 2x20 channel of band 41 and lot more 8t8r sites. This is one of the reasons why I stayed with sprint, oh and the unlimited data. I can easily use 20-30 gb a month when I am traveling a lot for work.

  6. The map actually changed? It doesn't look much different to me. The date below the map just reflects the current date. It doesn't actually show the latest update date anymore, ever since they changed the way the map works.

I know for the chicago market they changed pretty much all of it to a turbo market, which isn't true. But you know how sprint marketing department likes to over do things lol

  7. "I know Band 41 is short-range,  but THIS is ridiculous!"

Just wanted to let everyone know, that is caption won. I let vince pick since he started it and I agreed that it was funniest one,I wish we have more captions. But never the less, it was still fun. I will be making a donation to gift/scholarship account.

    Merry Christmas everyone :D

  8. is it bad that i have used 6GB of data on my phone in less than a week? I don't tether this is all phone usage. at this rate im looking at 10-15GB monthly usage on 4G compared to about 2GB max on 3G.

I dont think its bad 4G LTE is addictive and it should be freely used with no limits if they are gonna build a faster network we should be able to use it how we wish.

I agree with both, I used 20gb with my data resetting in a few days. Yet it is becoming an average thing were I am over 10 plus gigs a month now. I am with sprint for this reason. So be able to use 20gb and more without having to worry about if I need more data or whatever. LTE is addictive, the new 8t8r sites. So hard to not enjoy the speeds and capacity that they are kicking out

  10. Since the Cincy market has been indicated to be a Sprint Spark market, is there any chance that the Dayton area will be getting Spark soon or is that a lost cause?  I know that it is not as large a city as Cincy, but metrics indicate Dayton is in the top 50 wireless markets in the country.  I know they wanted to roll it out to the top 100 markets, but I am hoping since the Dayton area is considered a part of the Cincy market they spread the love up this way.

Think about donating 30 bucks and getting personal map for your market. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6624-schedule-map-promotionstill-going-on-for-those-interested/ Will answer a lot of your questions :-)

  11. The only difference I've noticed is from the leaves falling off the trees. Now that I've brought it up and you mentioned that, I'm doubting that optimization has occurred widespread if at all. I still have all the same LTE deadspots I've had since B26 went live, I've just gotten used to them and stopped noticing. Perhaps theyve been waiting for 8T8R to be live across the market, which it appears to be considering it's ubiquity in my travels across the area. Thinking back to my visit to KC in May, we're close to what it was like over there but not quite yet.

I hope they aren't waiting for that, they could totally be adjusting and powering b26 to what levels that need to match the 3g coverage and adjusting the tilt before all the 8t8r come online. I wonder if they are still having issues with the short supply of network integration techs/engineers.

  12. Verizon and at&t are notorious for using low encoding rates on voice calls. Sprint has always sounded better than Verizon and T-Mobile has always sounded better than at&t. A big part of why I left Verizon was because of the voice quality, it was especially bad when calling someone on at&t. Conversions were so muffled and garbled as to be unintelligible. The outrageous price was the other big factor.

Yea they do, I have a hard time talking to one of my friends who is on att. Yet when I am sprint to sprint with hd, It is so hard to believe how clear they are. I always have to turn the volume down because I can actually hear them :D
