  1. Isn't true that C\U and other places Central IL are US Cellular or formerly were US Cellular. I remember reading that Sprint would get the spectrum but no tower equipment. So maybe it really is Sprint under the guise of Us Cellular.

Us celluar still has spectrum in c/u and springfield. They didnt sell it all to sprint, see link http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-334-updated-sprint-uscc-spectrum-deal-sprint-gets-20-mhz-broader-in-the-city-of-broad-shoulders/. scroll down a litle and a chart shows that uscc had 40 mhz in c/u and gave only 20 of that to sprint. In springfield, uscc had 30 and only gave 20 to sprint. So they still have some pcs

  2. Where is Mhammett jumping for joy?  The latest NV sites complete now shows all the towers in Dekalb are 3G/800/4G accepted!!  This is a miraculous day for our resident NIU Huskies homer!

Always nice to see Chicago actually get some LTE acceptances.  Besides Deklab this NV update had a few others scattered about; Hoffman Estates, Glenview, Gary, Burbank.  Of course still waiting on a few, wouldn't be Sprint if we weren't still waiting on few tower upgrades though right!!! :P

He is out running around in the blanket of lte goodness, know as sprint lte :)

  3. What do you think of T-Mobile? Their plan of upgrading every single EDGE tower to LTE by the end of next year sounds really good. I don't think they will be able to deploy 700Mhz LTE in the OKC market though.

Sadly T-mobile 700 doesn't cover okc or even the tulsa market. T-mobile will benefit from the 800 that sprint has :D

  4. Even the iphone 5s/c supports band 2 according to apples website, Honestly I would worry about this when it happens. We all know that ntelos drags there feet. I am shocked that sprint actually signed a new contract with them, I can only figure that they got a really good deal. Only because ntelos would lose so much money if they lost this contract.

  5. In my area, the south chicago suburbs, I've been finally getting some band 26. I have an iPhone 5c so I know there will be no band 41 for me. I was just wondering if the band 26 in all areas is 5x5?

Welcome to s4gru, All but Georgia,Alabama and small part of Mississippi. This is all due to southern linc having 800 spectrum in that area limiting sprint to 3x3 for lte. Otherwise Sprint will have 5x5 every where else :)

  6. I live on Green Street between Monroe and Adams. I get LTE but usually 1 or 2 bars and download speeds are usually less than 1MB. My signal usually jumps from LTE to 3G. My apartment faces west.

I see you have the iphone 5s, you will be able to get 800 lte. Sprint is working on rolling that out in your area as we speak, That will help with the slow speeds and the 1-2 bars. I can only figure it is your apartment building(the material) that is is made, of that is not helping you get lte better coverage. Be patient and before you know it. You will have great speeds and better coverage soon

  7. my area is not launched yet, does the iphone app have that capability that would be great!

check it out, it is always work looking around the app. I didn't know you have a iphone, I know you probably love your iphone. But the other phones are so much more geek friendly lol

  8. i havent missed any calls that i know of out of my home area, no voivemails popping up with no rings or anyone complaining, just happens that im home when im missing my overtime calls, guess i will have to proactively take overtime till this resolves itself.

    Thanks

If you are in a launched area call sprint, also you can check the sprint zone app. You can do voice test on the app, see if it comes back ok. It has outage reports and everything on the app. It isn't a bad app at all :)

  9. Not sure that's entirely true. Surely you've checked out the B41 maps in the Premier section?

Of course I have, sadly a lot of burbs aren't filled in yet. Also a lot of people don't have tri-band devices, I still have device that is just band 25 only. So band 25 is getting slower :(

  10. When did these channels get used? I'm hitting a tower in North Hoffman Estates on my HTC one m7

Nice spot, It is about time they finally start using the uscc spectrum . A lot of areas are slowing down in Chicago and they don't have 2600 tdd-lte turned on yet. I will have to keep a closer eye now in the areas I travel :)

  11. Good. I know launch means nothing, it's just a psychological thing proving that Sprint is acknowledging us :). That way when people look up the Sprint LTE cities list on their site Des Moines would be listed, swaying them toward Sprint. Good thing for all involved.

I agree they moved rapidfire fast around here, lighting up everything practically overnight. Still you have to remember we never got any WiMax and 3G here was every bit as awful as any major metro for a longer period of time since we were further down their LTE deployment list than those cities.

What top 50 market hasn't had site installs yet? I'm actually curious. I'm not bashing Sprint or this site, I like them both, but we do have four other carrier choices in this area (VZW/ATT/TMO/USCC) and there's no denying Sprint has been very far behind all of them in the data speed department for too long around here. Hell, many LTE towers that are up are under 1mbps in West Des Moines because too many people are connected to the LTE towers when there are 3G only towers closer to them. That's why I really want to see Sprint finish up around here.

AGREED. Actually forgot about who can provide the backhaul around here, Mediacom is a TERRIBLE company in multiple respects. To be fair though, All other carriers around here seem to have much less of an issue on consistency in the backhaul department, likely because they wait until everything is done before they light it all up at once. Take VZW's LTE launch in 2011 for instance, one day the entire metro was dark, the next day pretty much every tower had LTE.

VZW lte launch was a lot easier, they didn't have to put it on every tower right away due to being on 700mhz. Also verzion used a lot microwave to connect to tower or towers that did have fiber back haul.

  12. How much do I need to donate? Is it a monthly thing or one time?

the amount is up to you, the sponsored member status lasts for 6 months. Every time you donate, it goes towards a premier sponsor(100 dollars) which never expires. Don't feel bad if you can't afford a lot neither, like I said. I started with a small donation(what I could afford at the time) and got my feet wet. Now look at me :D. Oh don't think I am just trying to get money out of you, it helps you out more seeing what sponsored members see.

  13. Bears can win a super bowl with Cutler. As long as he can stay healthy; He's actually a great quarterback

I just have never been a big fan of cutler, If he does help the bears win a super bowl in the next two years. I will upgrade someone of your pick to premier level. A win win for s4gru and that member :D

  14. I'm sure someone with a B41 enabled device would have somewhat usable connection at Soldier Field thanks to that active clearwire tower nearby ;').

But frankly you would probably need a DAS system to have any semblance of a working cell network when you're dealing with stadiums like that.

sprint is tied into the das, sadly it still hasn't helped from what I heard. The last time I went, they were on not on the das. So I can't say
