  1. Yep... agree.  I'm not suggesting that Sprint plops equipment on every USCC tower in the affected areas.  There is actually a fair amount of overlap when it comes to USCC and Sprint in this this general area, but my specific area/zip code is one that is seriously lacking.

Do I think Sprint would be able to grow subs if they placed Equipment on a tower here?  Absolutely.  Do I think sprint would be able to retain subs who are considering jumping ship to a different provider?  Absolutely.  I obviously cant place any hard numbers on them (market research is not my specialty) - but I do think Sprint could gain some traction here if they actually had reliable service.

I'll continue to sit here and cross my fingers and complain on a weekly basis to Sprint - and hope to hell they come through.  :P  :)

They could use 800, that is a nationwide license. We have found that 800 can gp a long ways, but the problem come can they make enough money off the tower with fiber costing 1,000 to 1,500 a month plus other expenses for the tower

  2. That's some great news, my parents live in Fox River Grove and when I was home from school over the summer I noticed there was a dead spot in CL along route 31 and in Cary. I'm guessing the sites at Cog Circle by Portillo's and the water tower in downtown Cary are still not live with LTE? When I'm out there I mostly see my phone connecting to those sites when I'm in Cary or Crystal lake. When I'm at home in Fox River Grove it's usually a split between Cold Spring Rd, the downtown Cary water tower and the Kelsey Rd site, and LTE being pretty scarce.

I know that there is a Clear site located on the Ski Jump in FRG, and that there is a USSC site on top of the FRG water tower. I hope they convert those to NV eventually, because Sprint doesn't have the best coverage in FRG.

And those sites that still aren't live with LTE, don't they have microwave back haul installed?

The uscc site will not be converted, sprint didn't buy the towers, just spectrum. The coverage will get better with voice and lte on 800

  3. Hi guys I post here and there and haven't posted in a while anyways I was sitting at home and all of the sudden out of the blue 4g is on my phone, I thought I was crazy...speed tested and was not. The sad thing is it disappeared after 5 minutes and hasn't returned. They have been doing work on this tower in my rural community as I have mentioned in past posts. My question is do they perform like 5 minute tests and just don't turn it back on for a while cause I have it for a total of 5 minutes earlier today and its been gone since.

It does that, it is like a hot chick. One second you see her and next you dont, Maybe u will be lucky and she will grace you with her appearance again lol

  4. It will be interesting to see if they somehow magically slipped 800 LTE into the silly thing. That would just about fit the timing in Robert's map.

I was just thinking the same thing, I hope they do. Yet with 1900 in the stadium and 2600 around the area with the bandwidth u got solider field covered now and can actually surf the internet during half time or long tv time outs lol

  5. Holy crap you are right!  You mean all the complaints to sprint via email, twitter, and on their community boards by not just myself but many many others actually had an effect on a large multi billion dollar corporation in making a change (and investment) to their infrastructure.  I am in absolute shock.  This is either the biggest coincidence on the planet, or this is the first time in history something like this has happened.  Did Sprint actually listen and respond accordingly, spending time and money to make an improvement after complaints?  Perhaps they already knew and had been trying to get into the DAS for Soldier Field at some time, but still WOW!

That and a little extra money from big daddy helps too lol. I can't wait to see how many das systems sprint connect into.

  6. All major venues have DAS in them. Only now Sprint has taken the initiative to Tie into the systems. Its better days ahead for the network. Sadly we got a few more quarters before the public takes notice.

Agree with u on the public not taking notice, that is why I stay away from sprints facebook or community fourms and just use s4gru :) . Not all major venues have das, the nfl was just complaining that not enough stadiums having a das system.

  7. Same thing that happens to me at every event at Soldier Field, Wrigley Field, United Center, and other concert venues.  Sprint seems to have more capacity issues than spectrum issues.  Quite strange.  To me this implies they have made little to no progress with backhaul in the market.  If true, that would put them extremely behind schedule if we are to believe what some of the mods and people in the know have said about the original schedule.

check the update, u may like what u see with the update to solider field.

  8. Nice! Both towers are less than a mile away from me. What is the range of a 1900 signal? 800? 2600? Just curious.

Typically in dense city like chicago a 1900 site is about 1 or 2 miles in radius. Downtown has more cell sites(a few blocks), because more people. If your getting the iphone 5s or 5c, u wont be able to get 2600. So I wouldnt worry about it, 1900 and 800 lte(which iphone 5s/5c supports) should start being turned on the end of this month, then give them some time to get to all sites. Also all sites need to have 4g on 1900 before 800 of course(need fiber backhaul). I have 800 voice on my phone right now and it keeps a site a lot long then 1900. So with the new iphone, u will have 4g in a lot of bulidings that u didnt before.

  9. Hi everyone, I found this community while searching for information on the LTE upgrades in Ohio.  I am currently in the Cincinnati market, I live on the west side of town (Westwood/Cheviot area) and work in the downtown/Covington area.  I am originally from the Cleveland/NE Ohio market (Lorain) and spend time there in weekend and week long chunks.  I've been doing some snooping on the site and see that some of towers in the city have gone through upgrades, but it doesn't look like anything has been done in my areas.

I am trying to stay informed on network upgrades to make the best decision on my next device.  I have 5 lines on my Sprint account, 2 have been eligible for upgrade since April, but the other 3 are locked in for another year.  Just trying to weigh my options on whether upgrade and stay with Sprint or just pay the ETF and take them all to another network.

Hope to be a contributor to the forums, everyone here seems to be great at spreading knowledge and information.

Welcome s4gru! I am glad to see your sponsor, not that we dont mind non sponsors. It just helps, when u have access to a lot more information. Honestly on the upgrades, I will just make sure to wait for tri-band phone. Otherwise enjoy the site,  u got questions?? The easiest way is to just go into that forum and ask it. Everyone is pretty nice around here, and happy to help out as much as they can.

  10. It also hurts others who need network vision done and is slowing them down. Now what would be funny for the guys who did this, not the guys in that area. Is if they had sprint and complained about service, well genius. If u didnt steal the cable u could have awesome sprint service lol

  11. I happened to be in the neighborhood of the tower on Utica Ridge Road in Bettendorf (Quad Cities) and took a couple of pictures.  It appears the new panels and RRUs have been installed in the middle spot of each sector.  Attached are a couple of pictures.

Having the new panels and rru's installed in the middle is typical. They typically come back 30-60 days after the new panels have been installed and switch them from the middle to ends.

  12. Hey guys, is there a plan on the rollout for band 26 and 41? Like which one will get rolled out first? What parts of town (chicago)? I've searched high and low on this site and cant seem to find it.

Chicago is one of the first markets to have band 41, That info is in the 2500/2600 discussion thread(http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4083-sprint-td-lte-25002600mhz-discussion/ ). That is crazy long to go though it all though. I am not a premier member, but they have access to all the 2500/2600 sites, I know chicago has pretty much all of the sites with wimax and lte on 2500/2600. The band 26, if everything goes right. Will be going live on sites the end of the month that is from s4gru(robert), It will be live on all network vision sites that have backhaul. By the end of the year, U can expect samsung to be the first to come out with 800 lte. They were the first with 1x 800 voice and they will be first in 800 lte(band 26). I am would love to see sites live before the iphone comes out. :)

  13. I agree hopefully the next model will support the upper band.

At least it supports 800mhz lte though.

That they did, honestly a lot of people will want that more then band 41. They will want the indoor coverage, which I can't fully blame them. I have a feeling it was design thing, getting in the way. Also I know the iphone has been desiged for awhile and in production. It is hard to switch it out, if they didnt know if sprint was for sure getting clear. We all know it would, but others werent so sure.

  14. I am looking to sign up for Sprint.  I live in 60053 and work in 60606.  Is anybody a customer in the Chicago area and actually happy?  I am looking at the LG G2 and the Samsung Note 3 (assuming Apple doesn't come out with a bigger screen tomorrow).

Events is the only thing that sprint's network has problems with, but since your getting a tri-band phone. U will be able to get on 2500-2600 4g(old clear), that will help out so much with things like the bears game and other events chicago has. If have any other questions go to the chicago thread or feel free to ask me.

  15. I'm seriously considering the iPhone 5s in a few weeks with my current upgrade.

I've been Android and have never owned anything iphone, ipad, ipod, etc. However, I'm ready for a switch and I guess now seems as good as any.

First question is about storage size. I'm pretty sure I like the 32gb. I use my GS3 for music probably more than anything else. I currently have about 12gb more or less of music. I don't store anything else that takes up much space. So I'm wondering, could I get away with the 16gb? I'm wondering if anyone utilizes icloud and does it save space? With icloud, I'm assuming you can move stuff back and forth to the cloud? Curious on thoughts about storage.

Secondly, I know we are waiting until next week to get the official specs, but are rumors looking that this might be tri-band?

Any and all advice or suggestions are appreciated.

    Sent from me phone

if it is a tri-band, go for it. Otherwise I say no, u will be so mad at yourself to be limited to 1900 lte. Well everyone else has 800 and 2500/2600 lte. Personally I am not a big fan of apple, I hate how much they limit the product. I like the product they make, just hate the control thing, I also like to have removable memory and my gs3 does that for me. But honestly if it isnt tri-band dont do it.

  16. so when nv2 is complete will we finally be better than the big guys? or just the same... or still behind?

Better! Verizon and att are actually getting scared now. Because sprint now has the most specturm around, With network vision, the platform is one of the bests around. It is expandable and ready to handle so much more then verizon and att. Verizon and att soultion for lte was to just throw up new antennas and another box at the tower. Some of the towers, actually have different backhaul for 3g/4g. It is so stupid and not smart. But when u got money who cares right lol
