  1. The rumor regarding body materials came from a totally unproven site. No real reason to believe that given Android Police's track record and statement that "As far as we know, these phones are aluminum body, not polycarbonate." (Emphasis in original).

Also, nowhere have I read the phones will have different processors.

As for price, if the price is proportionate with the quality, I don't mind paying a little more.

AP has come out with some new pictures, looks like the S1 will be metal as well...

  2. Not installment, I on old plan and did two year upgrade a few months back.

Oh, if you did a two year contract upgrade, then you need to honor your contract or pay the Early termination fee.

Best option would be to go into a Sprint store and talk with a rep about your options.

  3. We got Kindle Kids edition for our kids last Christmas (they were 7/5/3 at the time).  Its a regular Kindle, but with a great padded case and the bonus is a year of Amazon Free Time, tons of free games and Apps.  On top of that, two year, no questions asked warranty (as long as its in the case.)  Has an SD card slot too for expanded storage.

Looking back I wish I had gotten the 16gb rather than the 8GB, but you live and learn.

  4. B26 edge of cell - it'd be so much better...

Being in central Michigan, very little B26 has been deployed due to the Canadian border.  I'm not saying there isn't a benefit to having the 4x4MIMO, but to get there is very costly and I'm not sure that Sprint will invest in that type of an upgrade in the near term.

Long term it makes great sense

  5. 4x4 MIMO will double the capacity on a channel if I remember correctly so it will definitely resolve some problems. Imagine peak speeds of 74mbps on B26...

That would only be on a under utilized site, if the site is over capacity, there is no help there.

I get around 10mb/s peak from Sprint and have never run into issues streaming, etc.  While those huge numbers are great for bragging/marketing, what do you need that kind of throughput on your phone for?

  6. For some reason, I didn't think anyone was working on 4x4 MIMO for phones as it wouldn't fit in a hand held device.  Maybe it was Robert or AJ, but I don't remember the specific thread.  Something about the devices needing to be tablet sized to fit the antennas and amps.

Besides the e-Penis, 4x4MIMO in a phone isn't going to really solve any problems.  If a cell is already overloaded, there is no benefit to the user in the short term.  It sounds like new antennas and additional backhaul would be needed to make this into a feasible solution.  With Fiber backhaul, Sprint should be able to get that turned up easy enough, but I don't see them wanting to do a rip and replace on the NV1.0 antennas for B25/26 LTE. The NV2.0 B41 antennas were 8T8R, not sure if they'd support 4x4 MIMO from a device.

  7. Yes do exactly what your described.

Will I need a new SIM card for the new device?  She thinking about switching to an iPhone.

Is there a delay built in?  How long between activations do I need to wait?

  8. So I'm eligible to upgrade with all options (lease, payment, or 2yr contract).  My wife is not upgrade eligible for a few more months but in need of a new phone.  Can I go to say Best Buy, upgrade my line to a new device with a two year agreement.  The reactivate my Moto X on my line, finally activating the new device on her line?

  9. If I stay on Sprint I'm going to dump the moto x. While it's a great photo it's clear that Sprint never bothered to integrate it into their network properly. From my experience over the the past year :

    CA doesn't work

Domestic roaming doesn't work, native Sprint coverage only.

I have Sprint open world but could not get data in Canada.

I'm going to get an iPhone for the simple fact that it's the only phone you can easily take to other carriers that Sprint knows how to support property, and has wifi calling.

Roaming on Verizon & Verizon/Altell works fine in Michigan.  I too plan on moving on from the Moto X Pure as I need more consistent support.  I'm really digging the Nexus M1 (rumored name of the Marlin), just depend on price

  10. I'd have to get the Microsoft one since I don't have wifi at home anymore, isp company went for $30 a month to $80 and wouldn't drop it to a reasonable rate so I dropped them. Then I'll find a USB adapter to the wall. Might try the always on USB on my Xbox though.

    Cheap Miracast dongle from Amazon

  11. I know I need a adapter for that, I've seen a few but do not know witch is the best to get. I know Microsoft has one but uses USB as power and my older Vizio tv dose not have a USB port.

Look for a miracast adapter, should plug into the wall or USB and an HDMI port.

LG and Samsung TVs support wifi direct and miracast natively.

  12. Tried using a mhl to my TV and didn't work? Is there a setting I need to change or dose it not support it.

MXPE doesn't support MHL, it supports miracast for screen mirroring.  You can either do it over an existing wireless network that both your phone and TV are connected to or via Wifi Direct.  Wifi Direct is a private network between your phone and the TV that streams to the TV, uses your mobile data for pulling in the video.

  13. Been about 3 weeks now... still no issues either!

Good reports always help out.  Unfortunately, the buy one/get one deal is only if you add a new line of service.  I'll just wait for them to be contract upgrade eligible soon and figure out the best deal then.
