  1. i dunno man, this seems pretty wishy washy, this is using the sprint network as a home broadband connection and if anyone makes a 3xCA modem the home user would be able to pull like what? 300Mbps? if it were me id be downloading and streaming everything i could and it would make the user experience for sprint users very bad on that tower.

Either way it seems like network abuse and these companys that actually own the spectrum know exactly what they are doing, lease spectrum to sprint, demand use of all of their network or sprint doesn't get to use it, there have already been several topics in the past about these companies using this to re-sell internet service and its essentially a huge burdon on sprints network.

I agree it is abuse, but your regular phone account and these accounts are flagged differently in the system.  If and when Sprint wants to throttle or shape this traffic, they can due to the existing flags in place.  You risk having your service canceled as you are violating the terms of your contract with Sprint.

If you were to have a secondary service via Calyx and bomb the hell out of it, then go for it.  But to say this service and rooting/tethering are the same thing, I can't agree with that.

  2. Woke up this morning to an update notification,  was excited to finally get Nougat but it was just September security patch update :/

That sucks, I remember Motorola selling this device on fast upgrades, Pure Google Experience, etc.  I still have mine with the shattered screen that i keep pulling random bits of data off when I need it.

  3. If you haven't had a Samsung phone since the S4T, you really need to try a new one. The Note 7's TouchWiz was awesome (for the 10 days I owned it). I've been hoping they would port that version to the Note 5, but they haven't so far. I'm probably going to go with the larger of the two S8s, but I do like the Note line. I've owned the Note 4 and 5 now (and the 7 for a very brief time).

I've used it on s6 and s7, plus my Galaxy tab e. Still hate it on all levels ;)

  4. I smashed by Nexus 6P screen yet again. Face down, on asphalt. Prominent piece of gravel on top of the asphalt hits screen upon contact. Smash.

I had the original screen three days, then smash it. Keep the phone on a shelf for a year. Replace the screen, and use it for 6 weeks and smash again.

I've never had this problem before. Every time I drop this thing, it goes face down. It was in a good case, but face down just ain't going to save this thing. Maybe it's the weighting? Nah, I just an idiot.

    Using Tapatalk on Note 8.0

I've dropped mine twice face down within two weeks of having it and it survived.  I was shocked and very impressed.

Sorry for your luck with the device, I put a glass screen protector and finally a live case on it.

  5. I loved my Note 2 and the entire note series (sans burning phones).  I think the reason I skipped the Note 3 or 4 was it was one of the last single band LTE devices, only supporting Band 25.  Then I moved on to a S4T, Moto X Pure, and now a Nexus 6P.  I love the size and features of the "phablet" devices.

My biggest gripe about the Note 2, S4T, and all Samsung devices is the TouchWiz interfaces.  I can't see myself ever going back to a device that utilizes an overlay from stock Android.

It will be very interesting to see how this device is marketed after the Note 7 debacle.

  6. Hello strangers!!! SURPRISE! I'm not done.. :)

I am *way* behind on my e-mail and S4GRU threads, and have not had much time to work on the app over the past several months. But I'm lurking. And have been (slowly) working on an update to include the new API features. As I've privately told a few of you, I'm just crazy busy with other things in life and at work. Everything is great, just not enough time in the day.

Looking forward to being as active as I used to be. Sincere apologies for giving anyone the impression that the app was dead and I appreciate your patience. SignalCheck had hit a point of stability where I felt like I could let it simmer for a bit without a huge impact to users. Not because I don't enjoy working on it, just because I was burning the candle at both ends and real life takes priority sometimes. Maintaining the app could probably be a (terrible-paying) full-time job but it's still a fun hobby to me.

I'm slowly but surely working through all the e-mails and posts. It's all good!

  7. You don't have to. After unlocking, flash TWRP using fastboot and then flash SuperSU. You can then run rooted programs like Network Signal Guru. Never have to modify your system image. That's what I'm doing. That way I can monitor CA.

it's been awhile since I rooted, but flashing SuperSU from recovery placed the su binary and other files in /system or has that changed?
