  1. But do you know if the iPhone 5C and 5S is using the new CSIM authentication system?
  2. I don't really want to see Sprint and Tmobile merge at this point. Both companies have too much on their plate right now with both companies working on their own Network Vision and expanding LTE. Tmobile is also in a transition process to shut down the MetroPCS CDMA network as well and refarm PCS spectrum for HSPA+. We need to have both Sprint and Tmobile remain independent and work together while the 600 MHz auction is in talks until the auction is complete. We need to have 2 out of the 4 major smaller players help establish the rules for the 600 MHz auction and fight for the smaller carriers (US Cellular, Ntelos, Cspire, etc). Sprint needs to focus on executing Network Vision with deploying LTE 800/LTE 2600 and buying up the entire H block and focus on the 600 MHz auction.
  3. I have been reading about this too on a Note 3 Active. I wonder if this device actually exists, would Sprint carry it? I'll be curious to see if Samsung is going to have a press release that talks about this. Given that Sprint didn't carry the GS4 Active and only AT&T did, I doubt Sprint would carry a Note 3 Active.
  4. I think what Neal's point is not about the iPhone 5S but rather about the iPhone 5. Since the Verizon and Sprint model were the same for the iPhone 5 and since Verizon is using CSIM cards for their LTE phones including the iPhone 5, it means that it could be possible that the hardware itself can support a CSIM card (hence Sprint). Now I don't know what it takes to maintain a CSIM card system on the phone side and the server side but I guess its worth thinking about. However I still believe that Sprint will only allow LTE phones going forward to have CSIM card capability (assuming this is true) to swap LTE phones on the fly.
  5. I guess until more smartphones come out on sprint we wont know if sprint is switching all their LTE phones going forward to the CSIM system. We shall find out when the Note 3 drops on oct 4th. Maybe a sprint store rep can confirm that the Note 3 uses a CSIM and can swap between the iphone 5s and Note 3 on the fly. Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
  6. Dont worry..i truly believe that october will be a strong month for sprint. The Note 3 release on oct 4th will kick things off along with possibly the LG G2 release in late Oct and htc should be announcing something about the htc one max in Oct. Also there are rumors about google hosting an event in mid Oct to talk about the nexus 10, nexus 5 and android 4.4. To top it off, sprint Q3 earnings report should occur by halloween to shed more light on the 800 MHz CDMA and LTE progress. Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
  7. I personally like the verizon LTE logo so if sprint doesnt have a new 4G icon..im going to mod it to the verizon version. Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
  8. I know it shows something unique so it suggest a new "4G" icon. I even mentioned it in my previous post but I am just saying we won't know for sure until the LG G2 comes out. Hell if Samsung Note 3 has a new 4G icon that would be a good sign.
  9. It is. I just want Sprint to come out with a 4G LTE icon like the rest of the other carriers do. The landing page for the LG G2 might suggest a new LTE icon for Sprint LTE phones but I think we shall see with the Galaxy Note 3 if that phone already has a new 4G icon for the Sprint version.
  10. Thank goodness. The Speedtest app on the Android version is so crappy.
  11. I'll be shocked if the Sprint model will have a unique 4G LTE icon. In some ways, if I am able to modify the 4G LTE icon in the SystemUI.apk to display the Verizon or Tmobile one, I don't really care if Sprint doesn't have its own unique 4G LTE icon anymore. Also about the Sprint variant, until we have a release date we don't know when the phone will finally be released. Even the tech bloggers can get that specific variant about a week before its released. So lets assume for example that the Sprint version will come out on Oct 25th, I expect if someone was to do a review on the Sprint variant for some reason that they could receive the unit on Oct 18th and have a review on the 19th or 20th.
  12. Anyone who thought that come July 1st, a flip of a switch was suddenly going to turn on thousands and thousands of CDMA 800 sites are nuts. The only reason why this can't be done is because with voice, one of the criteria is to ensure that it works with emergency calls to 911 in case your phone has issues. This means that drive testing and calls into a call center would need to be done to ensure this works as intended. Not only that but who knows if there needs to be an additional CDMA carrier card for 800 MHz that was not installed in the base station during the initial NV installation. I expected that July and August to be dead months for 800 MHz due to ramping down of iDEN and Sprint ramps things up in preparation for a larger deployment of CDMA 800 and LTE 800. Since I don't have a CDMA 800 device, I can't verify if there are areas that already have CDMA 800 deployed but are just not marked on the maps. It appears that CDMA 800 seems to be deployed in more places that we know it and the maps are just lagging due to the lack of information that was passed down plus Robert's busy schedule.
  13. Its going to be 32 GB version since that is what Verizon, Tmobile and ATT are selling. I don't think the extra $50 means that they will be selling the 64 GB version
  14. I think the OPs point is not that the current NV towers dont have the 800 MHZ RRU and antennas installed but he is just wondering what is taking sprint so long to get crews out to preinstalled sites all over the US and light them up. Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
  15. I was reading that from another thread that the iPhone 5S and 5C was suppose to be the first Sprint LTE phones that are using the new CSIM (CDMA Sim) card and authentication system that would allow for easy SIM swap between removable SIM LTE phones without having to phone into Sprint. However this new CSIM card will only work with other LTE phones going forward that use the CSIM card so this would mean that you can't swap between the iPhone 5S and HTC One or GS4 even though they are removable SIMs LTE phones. I just wanted to find out if anyone that got the iPhone 5S or 5C was aware of that or can confirm if this is true. Hopefully the Nexus 5 and LG G2 use this new CSIM card. Here is the link to the thread. See post #17 and #20. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4635-will-sprint-now-be-moving-to-sim-based-authentication-for-cdma/
  16. What is a SD screen? I know how you feel, believe me, I vented about how much I was displeased with the Note 3's lack of triband LTE when I first heard the news but I have moved on. For me I am voting with my wallet to get a triband LTE device. Why buy a phone and support it if you are not going to be happy with? There are plenty of other great high end smartphones out there coming out to Sprint like the LG G2, Nexus 5, or possibly the rumored HTC One Max with triband LTE. If you want to stick to Samsung and want a triband LTE device, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and rumored GS4 mini will be coming to Sprint as well.
  17. Sorry if I didn't make it clear. I meant to say new LTE phones starting in 2014 will be triband. The HTC One, GS4, Note 3, etc will still remain single band and will be sold for at least the next 2 years.
  18. Why would Sprint do that? Who knows the true reason why the Note 3 was left out of the triband LTE game. Besides the majority of the Sprint customers don't know that the Note 3 isn't going to be triband LTE. Sprint will still sell a ton of Note 3 devices even if you explain to customers what triband LTE can do for you. All people care about that are considering the Note 3 is a large screen size, S-pen and at least some LTE connection. The rest of the stuff about triband LTE is left up to the tech nerds like us who care about the future of Sprint. Besides all Sprint LTE phones going forward beginning 2014 will all be triband LTE. Its just this set of LTE phones in 2H2013 that are iffy. Not a big deal for most since they won't know what it means anyways.
  19. Believe me you are not the only one. It wouldn't have been too bad if the Oct 11th date was the release date but for it to be just the preorder date is pretty ridiculous. My guess is that Sprint is trying to delay the release amongst other potential issues in order to have more of the LTE 2600 network built out before releasing it. The majority of folks won't know the difference between LTE 2600 and LTE 1900 in terms of speed but for Sprint it would surely shore up capacity on its LTE 1900 band especially in the heavy hitting markets like LA, NYC and Chicago. Sprint is not going to change any pricing due to the 2.5 GHz spectrum so I don't know what you mean.
  20. I just hope Sprint doesn't pull a GS4 and Note 3 with a $50 increase in price of the LG G2 at $249 with 2 year contract while Verizon and AT&T are pricing the LG G2 at $199 with 2 year contract.
  21. That is not how it works. When I went to a Sprint store the payments are all evenly divided for 23 months and the 24th month has a slightly higher payment. For example from what I saw for the Note 2, the retail price is $649...if you sign up for the One Up program your payments will be $27/23 months and the 24th month is $29. It is weird like that. I saw the same thing for all the phones where the evenly divided payments are for 23 months and the 24th month has a slightly higher payment. Maybe someone who works at a Sprint store can confirm this and why they do this.
  22. I highly doubt its the 64 GB version given that Verizon, ATT and TMobile are planning to sell the 32 GB version. Now if Sprint does surprise us with the 64 GB version then it will warrant the additional $50 of $349 and I think most will be happy about that. However given the track record of the Sprint GS4 selling at $250 for the 16 GB version while the rest of the other carriers stuck to the $199 price point, I am leaning towards the Sprint Note 3 to be just the 32 GB.
  23. Haha...thanks for the elaborate response on your ideal phone although I was just only curious about what you wanted in the Nexus 5. I can tell you that the Nexus 5 will not fit all those specs that you so desired. Seems like you would have to compromise on a few things.
  24. Not surprised at all since the iPhone 4S users who are coming off contract are tired of the 3.5 inch screen and want a boost to 4.0 inch scree...LOL...with the fingerprint scanner. IMO the 6-7 million sales expectation was a bit conservative.
  25. I hope so. LG still needs to prove to the public IMO that they can be reliable for software updates so that gives customers peace of mind that when customers buy their products that they will be getting software support in the future. Once i get one in my hands I will be able to provide more feedback on the types of software changes that need to be made. Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
