  1. I am guessing because ATT used RRUs for the LTE build out from the very beginning so they just need a software upgrade. Maybe since Verizon didn't use RRUs for their 700 MHz LTE rollout that they need to go back to the towers and upgrade its equipment to use RRUs going forward.
  2. What is the dialer code to access that engineering menu to the LTE bands?
  3. What is also odd is that on the Note 3, it had the LTE Enabled, B26 LTE Enabled, B41 LTE Enabled options as well. But the G2 also has the Band Priority option which is very key for those that are in the know. If it truly allows us to decide which band is highest priority first (won't know until the phone is activated), this will really help us with finding out B26 LTE when it starts rolling out and finding out B41 LTE in particular markets that are launched now.
  4. Yes there is a press release for preorders on Oct 11. See below. http://investors.sprint.com/file.aspx?iid=4057219&fid=19653278
  5. I would give that Sprint rep the benefit of the doubt. Even one of the posters earlier who works for Sprint said they just got the demo unit within the last 24 hours and the training video today so they are not up to speed. I am sure the training is rolled out in phases and maybe his store didnt' get the training materials yet. Besides I don't think they are allowed to comment on your question anyways other than to give you what is already public knowledge nor can they setup or let you play with the demo unit anyways.
  6. Interesting. I guess LG really wants to tell Sprint employees to market triband LTE heavily as they should be. I really hope the LG G2 becomes a success on Sprint not only because of triband LTE but also to give LG the confidence that they can compete in high end smartphone space with better Android software support to retain customers.
  7. According to AT&T they are planning on launching a VoLTE smartphone before years end with a wider selection of VoLTE phones in the first half of 2014. I am glad that AT&T and Verizon are both launching a VoLTE smartphone before years end to do the guinea pig testing. I know Sprint and Tmobile will be watching and staying on the sidelines hoping to figure out lessons learned as they continue to build out their nationwide LTE network. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/att-expects-launch-first-volte-smartphone-year/2013-10-08
  8. I agree. It is rather annoying when I hear that people assume the Nexus 5 is based off the G2 when the only thing they have in common is the Snapdragon 800. I think people are just looking at past history when they saw that the Nexus 4 was based almost entirely off of the LG Optimus G (which it was) and assuming that LG is doing the same with the Nexus 5 modeling off of the G2. This time though the screen size, button and camera placement, phone shape, battery capacity, camera sensor, build quality (plastic vs. matte), hardware (Nexus 5 probably won't have IR blaster) are not the same between the 2 phones so it has to be built entirely different.
  9. When I get my G2, I'll be in touch. I know you listed a few things that you wanted to do so I'll be curious what it looks like when you post a screenshot of your new status bar. I don't want to customize it to a S4GRU icon. I want to keep the status bar as much stock as possible. Basically all I really want to do is just reverse the order of the 4G and arrows placement with 4G icon on top and arrows on bottom (like you do) and either leave the stock Sprint 4GLTE icon or switch to the Verizon 4G LTE icon on the status bar. Perhaps I might also want to switch international 5 instead of the 6 signal bars but I'll have to see first when you modify it and post a screenshot.
  10. Thanks for the info about both images being either 50x50 pixels or 75x75 pixels. However when I looked at the current way to edit the 4G icon in the Themes forum section in the link below for other phones all you have to do is rename the Sprint 4G png file to something else and rename the 4G png of your choice (Verizon, Tmobile, ATT) to the exact name that Sprint is looking for and save. But this didn't involve reversing the icon placement since the 4G icon was always on top and the arrows were always on the bottom. With the G2, it is the inverse with the 4G icon now on bottom and arrows now on top. I am thinking there must be an additional file that you need to edit that current lists in the status bar to place the arrows icon on the top and the 4G icon on the bottom. So my main question is where else do I need to edit because I don't think the "res\drawable-xhdpi" folder has it because that folder contains only the png files for the icons. Let me know if you still don't understand what I am trying to ask. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3074-change-4g-symbol-on-android-devices/page-6
  11. Is it hard to inverse the arrows and the icon placement?
  12. The only reason why it is assumed an "early draft" is because the internal storage said the phone was 16 GB + 32 GB SD card slot of which we know there is no SD card slot on LG G2 except for the Korean version. The FCC documents showed prior to the shutdown that the phone itself has the proper antennas, filters, preamps, etc to support B26 (800 MHz) and B41 (2500 MHz) LTE. This means it has been authorized by the FCC to broadcast those frequencies from the phone. If anything it could be firmware locked initially by Sprint but I expect even if this is the case that this is only temporary until they feel confident that the network is ready to unlock the other two LTE bands. Even if you look at the service manual for this phone that I posted and look at the PCB board pics, it shows the hardware on the actual board of where the filters/antennas are. At this point the best proof is to have others buy the phone on launch day and show that it can receive LTE 2600 on the LG G2.
  13. Interesting...I scanned through the User Manual but none of the pages list the specs of the phone. I don't know if you saw my previous posts about the LG LS980 service manual draft was published. Download the LG LS980 service manual and look on pg. 6 of the PDF. It shows all 3 LTE bands (B25, B26 and B41). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437403
  14. Sprint LG G2 User Manual has been posted for those interested in the link below. It shows the new 4GLTE icon on pg. 20 of the pdf file. It kinda looks similar to the Note 3 4GLTE icon. Either way I wonder if we can still modify it to use ATT, Tmobile or Verizon's 4G LTE icon. http://www.mylgphones.com/sprint-lg-g2-lg-ls980-user-manual-guide.html
  15. What are you trying to say here? Are you asking if you do the One Up program with a Note 3 and when you have to trade in a device after 12 months if you can trade in a Photon instead of the Note 3? If so then I guess you take Sprint personnel as fools then. Once you sign up with the One Up program, Sprint makes a note of the device that you started your monthly phone bill installments (aka Note 3). You can't after 12 months from now go to a Sprint store the day before you plan to upgrade your device and swap your Note 3 on your main line to a Photon. Then after that go into a Sprint store the next day and use the Photon to trade in that device and restart your payments. It doesn't work that way and Sprint can easily verify the device that you should be trading in which should be the Note 3. Besides none of the Wimax phones are eligible to be traded in since they were not even sold on day 1 of the One Up program.
  16. I am glad that the Wimax home plans are limited to just 3-6 Mbps and 1.5 Mbps tiers. I don't want Wimax sucking up the backhaul bandwidth for TD-LTE.
  17. Thank goodness that guy was dealt with. Don't want to mess up the vibe in this thread.
  18. Getting the Quadbeats 2 earphones would be awesome but right now I am more concerned about the triband LTE issue.
  19. Does this help in restoring faith in the triband LTE? The service manual for the LS980 shows triband LTE support. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4099-lg-g2-the-first-sprint-tri-band-lte-handset-was-lg-optimus-g2/?p=207703 XDA link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437403
  20. Interesting that it does show 800/1900/2500 MHz (LTE) support on the box for the Netgear Zing. I wonder why the LG G2 box doesn't mention the other LTE bands.
  21. Right I understand that we are not out of the woods yet until the device is officially released and can confirm that the device is verified with LTE 2600. But I was just pointing out that AJ's post was just a joke. As I stated in an earlier post, the box confirms that the FCC ID: ZFNLS980 that we speculated to be the Sprint LG G2 is true and we know from looking at those FCC documents that the B26 and B41 antennas are in the phone and B26 and B41 LTE was tested. I am hoping the box is just a typo and the text is just boiler plate stuff that was an oversight that needed to be corrected for triband LTE phones. This is why I wanted to see the triband LTE hotspot/USB device boxes to see if mentions about 800/1900/2500 MHz (LTE) support.
  22. You do know that AJ's post is a joke right. He has an unique sense of humor.
