  1. New report that Verizon is open to swapping spectrum for 700 MHz A block. I see this as an opportunity for Verizon to dominate the AWS spectrum as well by asking Tmobile to swap some of its AWS spectrum in exchange for some 700 MHz A blocks. I wonder if Tmobile will bite on this. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/verizon-open-swapping-spectrum-700-mhz-block/2013-12-11
  2. Can someone tell me or take a screenshot of what the Baseband version is in Settings-> About Phone on the Nexus 5 currently.
  3. If you are not rooted, you don't have to worry about these other methods since you These other methods involve flashing the ZV8 update using TWRP recovery since they don't want to have to flash back to stock firmware and redo settings just to take the OTA. I personally updated to ZV8 using these other methods via flashing a zip file in TWRP recovery so I don't have to flash back to stock firmware since it will take a lot of time and effort to redo everything. If you are rooted, it is not advised to take the OTA update since it may cause issues when the stock OTA update tries to install on something that is rooted. It is advised to flash back to stock firmware and be unrooted as if its a brand new phone and then take the OTA update. But at the same time this is why people on this thread and on XDA are looking for ways to flash the new ZV8 firmware update without needing to flash back to stock firmware to save time.
  4. Yes Wanam Kit is fine for Nexus 5 because that uses stock Android just like how this Xposed module could be used for CM/AOSP and the description say sits for Nexus 5 4.4+ stock Android ROMs. However I assume Jonathanm1978 uses the G2 with LG stock rom. In this case the Quickboot app is a much better option if you need a quick reboot and recovery option instead of looking around and installing random modules just to find this one feature that he needs. I personally use the Quickboot app to launch into TWRP recovery and works great. I love the G2 Xposed module because it has features that are specific to the G2 that the Wanam Kit wouldn't provide. Besides we are using the 4.2.2
  5. Uhhhhh...I am a bit confused on the context of your post. I was just merely saying that the ZV8 firmware fixes the crackling voice. I don't get how the conversation turned into advocated for a root/brick fest on your phone? Don't worry the ZV8 firmware will come.
  6. The crackling voice quality is fixed in ZV8. The G2 Xposed module does not have a reboot option. I advise if you have a G2 to go through the Quickboot route since is so easy. The Wanam module wad developed for Samsung devices and even though you load it on the N5, it sacrifices a lot of extra features that are specific to the G2. I would much rather keep the G2 Xposed module and use Quickboot app.
  7. I am sure it is just the baseband that needs to be updated. Currently we are using .190034 in the ZV8 firmware and right now the latest Verizon radio image that is leaked is .190050 and tests from those testers using the .190050 baseband report better LTE reception for Verizon. Hopefully Sprint ports the latest and greatest baseband when it comes time for the Spark update.
  8. If you have flashed TWRP recovery, please download an app called QuickBoot on the Play store for easy one click access to TWRP recovery https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot&hl=en You don't need to use the hard button method but if you are curious about it, here is a video that shows you how to get into recovery mode using hard buttons
  9. Wow Sprint still has the audacity to charge $249 for the GS4 before $50 MIR card at this late stage in the game. I mean net net its still $199 with 2 year contract but just strange that they wouldn't just ditch the $50 MIR card and just offer it for $199 with no rebate. It says in the press release in the next few weeks so it looks like start of 2014 for the GS4 with sprint spark to be released. Also the press release said 1.9 GHz quad core processor = Snapdragon 600 processor in case those that are still in doubt even though it was known awhile ago that it would be a 1.9 GHz quad core processor. EDIT: Removed one extra "still" because the Grammar police *cough* *cough* AJ has arrived.
  10. All that stuff is very easy to learn. Its just a matter of how much effort you want to invest to learn it.
  11. Pay attention to the Network Vision Site Acceptance Report Updates Thread located here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3913-network-vision-site-acceptance-report-updates/ Here is today's update for the last few days that talks about Utah getting 129 updates. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3913-network-vision-site-acceptance-report-updates/?p=250229 Check out the NV Complete Map to see if any of your local towers has LTE now: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/517-nv-sites-complete/
  12. Wow this last update that Robert just posted for Utah is pretty awesome. Site acceptance reports from Tuesday (12/3), Wednesday (12/4), Thursday (12/5), Friday (12/6 Utah - 129 updates (41 LTE)
  13. LOL that is funny. Hopefully LG, Qualcomm and Sprint can help fix the LTE thresholds on the G2 to be on par with the N5. I don't buy that the N5 has superior antennas since I would imagine that LG would use the same antennas for the G2 as the N5.
  14. Download the file from the thread below and flash with TWRP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544206
  15. You can mod the speaker and headphone volume values to make it louder. See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2482750
  16. Can anyone confirm that the zv8 firmware fixed the audio issue during phone calls? Any other noticable improvements?
  17. I don't think the baseband change will occur until either the Spark update or Android 4.4.
  18. LOL you really thought it was the spark update? Do you remember how big the size of the update was? I assume the Spark update will be a decent size. All the ZV8 build does is fix the garbling audio issue during phone calls which is a much needed fix. When Sprint says the Spark update will come in early 2014, I think they really mean that. Also we don't know if Sprint might combine the Spark update and Android 4.4 update together in the same build. Version Release Date Description of Enhancements/Fixes ZV8 12/06/2013 Audio issue enhancement Google security patch
  19. So you didn't have to flash back to stock firmware first?
  20. Looks like AT&T wants to cause some disruption in Tmobile's plan to bid on the 700 MHz A block spectrum from Verizon. I really hope AT&T is not allowed to buy the 700 MHz A block spectrum from Verizon. If ATT does win this 700 MHz A block spectrum, they should be barred from participating in the 600 MHz auction. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/report-att-vying-t-mobile-verizons-700-mhz-block-spectrum/2013-12-05
  21. I am guessing late 2014 to 2015 before Sprint starts expanding LTE 1900 to another 5x5 LTE block to large markets. Given that LTE 800 and LTE 2600 are being built as we speak, I think Sprint is relying on both the 800 and 2600 MHz bands to start offloading traffic since more and more devices are becoming triband LTE devices. I think Canada and Mexico IBEZ markets will get an expanded LTE 1900 5x5 LTE carrier first or sooner especially if it has 30 MHz in the market given that it does not have access to LTE 800.
  22. I really hope the FCC does stick to its word and put caps on the 600 MHz spectrum on Verizon and ATT to allow Sprint and Tmobile to pick up some of this low band spectrum which both carriers have little to none of.
  23. Ehh. How much credibility does this poster have in this other forum? I mean I don't think ATT is maxed out on their 700 MHz sites at all especially with the new influx of 700 MHz B block spectrum that they bought from Verizon earlier this year. The reason Verizon 700 MHz sites are maxed out is because everyone and their mother jumped to Verizon back in 2011 when LTE showed how true broadband mobile internet is suppose to be. Not to mention the fact that there were a huge influx of customers that wanted to sign up with Verizon to lock in that unlimited data plan when it was discontinued in July 2011. I don't know what it will take in order to install 600 MHz antennas and RRUs but what this poster is saying paints a really negative picture on 600 MHz equipment. Like others have said, other countries like in South America use 450 MHz so I can't imagine how those antennas will be like.
