  1. Agreed. Personally I didn't mind the Spark icon because I know when its spinning data activity was occurring. With the new icons, is there any indication if LTE traffic is going through like how all the other carriers have with the arrows? That to me is way more important than simplfying LTE icons.
  2. Can someone post the ##DEBUG# LTE menu on Lollipop. I want to see what it looks like. I am still on ZVE (KitKat).
  3. Sprint's coverage maps need a massive overhaul in terms of the way the information is presented. The coverage map square is way too small on sprint's coverage map. It should take up the whole screen and for gosh sake's please update the look and feel of the maps because they look old and out of date.
  4. That is exactly how I think of faster speeds...not so much about individual usage but rather that the tower has a lot of capacity to distribute to more users and maintain a decent QOS.
  5. What I expected. SB county failed to meet their deadlines again. Why am I not surprised.
  6. No idea but if I had to put money on it...I bet SB county did not meet their August deadline to provide a plan to the FCC.
  7. OH NOESS!!!! Now Verizon has to delay its phone launch longer because it has to rebrand its upcoming phones with its new logo plastered all over the phone.
  8. This new Verizon logo is horrible. The old logo looks better.
  9. I know I know...it was a sarcastic comment about 800 MHz . But how can the FCC and Sprint force them off anyways? The FCC can't just give permission to Sprint to just 1 day fire up 800 MHz CDMA and LTE. I don't know if the FCC can't just force SBC to cease and desist ESMR band transmissions can they? Is there even a penalty for SBC to failure to consistently miss deadlines? Its just ridiculous how they can keep getting away with this crap.
  10. Ugh so the August 21, 2015 deadline is just a rebanding agreement between SBC and Sprint for 800 MHz? I thought it was when it was suppose to be finished. I am not hopeful at all at this point and I think the 600 MHz spectrum will be deployed in LA/OC before the 800 MHz will ever be deployed in LA/OC
  11. Does anyone know what the status is of the San Bernardino 800 MHz rebanding? Are they freaking finished yet?
  12. I am glad that Tmobile is joining the CCA. Sprint and Tmobile need to team up support each other as the smaller carriers compared to the big 2 for coverage purposes.
  13. Well that remains to be seen. Bay Area needs a ton of densification. I look at all the NV sites available in the SF peninsula and it appears to have coverage gaps which I know a single LTE 800 carrier is not going to fix. Trying to cover LA and SF is already a tall order to ask due to the size of the areas it needs to cover. This is why Sprint needs to not only add a ton of new macro sites as part of its NGN program for densification but it needs to aim for placing LTE 800, 1900 and 2500 at as many existing NV sites as possible. Tmobile has been deploying 700 MHz LTE rather quickly in LA and I would be curious to see what their strategy is in the spacing of their 700 MHz sites. I know of an area along my route to work where there are 2 Tmobile sites within a 0.5 mile distance and only 1 of them has the 700 MHz panels installed.
  14. So I am bit confused about this whole thing. I know the FCC is harping on Dish for the designated bidding for the AWS-3 spectrum. Can the FCC strip part or all of the AWS-3 spectrum that was purchased via Dish and have it reauctioned?
  15. Good news is that one of the recent NV sites that was accepted and now live in the La Habra/Fullerton area on Imperial Hwy and Harbor blvd has both 800 RRUs and 1900 RRUs installed. I am glad Sprint did not opt to just install 1900 RRUs and then have to come back and install 800 RRUs. Hopefully the SB county rebanding effort is almost finished. I believe SB county was suppose to have a deadline around late August but who knows how strict the FCC is enforcing it given its poor track record. The data coverage in La Habra is really poor and the LTE 800 is badly needed.
  16. But wasnt the power restrictions limited to just the uplink and not on the downlink? I believe dish was planning to convert the neighboring S-band to supplemental downlink but I guess that was only if they obtained the h block. I thought the real reason for sprint not bidding was that dish set the high reserve price at $1.56 billion.
  17. What tmobile needs more is to buy up the remaining 700 A-block licenses when it makes sense and deploy it as quickly as possible. For now tmobile should focus on converting all the EDGE towers to LTE and deploy mass 700 LTE where it currently has spectrum in.
  18. Do u still think sprint should have bid on the pcs h block sliver of spectrum? I think a single 5x5 block is not enough to fill the masses especially given how long it is going to take to unwind CDMA. I just hate the fact that dish bought it and is just sitting on the spectrum with no movement on turning that spectrum into a band class and using it.
  19. At least let me get one more 2 year upgrade before the end of year. The nexus 5 2015 phone cant come soon enough
  20. I do agree that having to get new cables will be a PITA but in this case the change is for the better. Eventually we will have to migrate there anyways so at some point you will have to move. There will be adapters to enable the transition and like any of us who use multiple electronic device you will have a ton of spare cables to sacrifice with usb-c adapters attached to them. I dont think the iphone users are complaining about letting go of the 30- pin connector for the lightning port connector.
  21. I am curious about the silver circle. Hopefully that is a fingerprint scanner. Also I would like to see and confirm if the Nexus 5 2015 will use the USB Type-C port. Of course it will be available. All the carriers are pushing hard for customers to do the Easy Pay or lease options vs. the 2 year subsidized model. Put it this way, my official 2 year contract ends in Oct 2015 so I can't upgrade to a new phone via 2 year contract and is strict on that but if I chose to do a 24 month lease or Easy Pay option to buy any smartphone now, it would allow me to do so.
  22. Now the International Value Roaming plan is called Sprint Global Roaming plan so it should merge with that. I think 10 GB would be a bit too much cost for Sprint for high speed data especially if they throttle you to 2G for free still. I think 5 GB would be more reasonable and then throttle you to 2G speeds. Hopefully Tmobile continues to 1-up Sprint so that they have to react and change their mind about the whole thing. I agree with you in that I hate how the 2 add-ons are segregated.
  23. Yes swap while in the US before of course. It takes some time anyways to take into effect. I mean I guess if you can swap back and forth its ok. I guess for this upcoming week, the free roaming calling would be much appreciated but I hope there is a way for them to tell you when you approach your 1 GB limit. I hate overages. Just 2 weeks ago, I accidentally roamed on 3G in Canada for just maybe 100 MB and it was $36. Luckily, Sprint credited my account for this. However I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow to do the add-on since its not available yet.
  24. I agree its each their own. I just look at Tmobile and it seems like they get both benefits (maintaining unlimited 2G worldwide and getting unlimited 4G roaming/calls/text in Canada and Mexico) so that was just expressing disappointment. Although I don't see how Tmobile can keep that up in the long term for unlimited 4G roaming in Mexico/Canada would seem rather costly in the long term. I am the complete opposite, I don't see myself going to a ton of Latin countries even though I am going to Mexico cruise next week, I would much rather keep the unlimited 2G data than get only 1 GB of high speed data. I don't really make calls back home and I would much rather use email or VoIP apps to make calls on wifi. 2G ain't sexy but it gets the job done for google maps, email and tripadvisor. Also do you know if you can swap between the 2 options depending on where you are going? Perhaps I don't mind if that is an option but if its a 1 time permanent change, then no thanks.
