  1. I am hoping Sprint adds more Asian countries in the next Global Roaming update.
  2. I know but even a few years ago before this whole "Simple Choice" plan stuff, when people had to pay $70-100 for minutes, data and text messages a la carte separately, you couldn't find anything for $50 postpaid. So yeah it sucked it bumped from $30 to $50 but I still think its worth it and be able to get the high end smartphones. Imagine if you were still stuck on the HTC Touch Pro 2 on faux Android still just to stay at $30. UGH....nothing would get me to go back to those crappy phones.
  3. A lot of issues. Clearwire committed WAYYYY too much effort and costs (sales reps, customer service, Wimax equipment for home users, etc) on trying to acquire retail customers which failed miserably instead of focusing all funding to building out the Wimax network nationwide into more markets. Also Clearwire's choice of markets to build the Wimax network was very questionable too especially when it skipped plenty of top 50 markets (Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, Long Island (NY), New Orleans, Detroit, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, southern part of Orange County in So Cal was half built, etc) and instead blown their budget on smaller markets with low ROI. No offense to smaller markets but when you are company trying to wholesale to your major customer Sprint and they rely on your company to provide 4G service to the top markets, Sprint is not happy when you run out of funding due to retail failures and focusing on the wrong markets. There was always a power struggle in terms of growth strategy between the 2 companies even though Sprint owned about half (49%) of the company. Bottom line is good riddance to Clearwire, the senior management was cancer to Sprint and was constantly asking Sprint for more funding to keep them afloat.
  4. I'll give that a shot once I activate my Note 5.
  5. I am not talking about legacy 1x carrier technology. I know it is fully backwards compatible. However on the handset side it needs to be able to support the 1x Advanced features or else its useless and it mind as well be treated as legacy 1x. I am talking about extraneous 1x carriers that are deployed since one of the features of 1x Advanced is up to 4x capacity of users compared to legacy 1x. Since there are still plenty of 1x legacy only devices out there that don't support 1x Advanced Sprint can't take full advantage of this feature and have to deploy more 1x carriers to support capacity.
  6. Yup my bro told me he pays about $45/mo for his line in a 5 line plan. Its funny how some folks harp down on SERO customers when in fact they are not the lowest ARPU customers.
  7. Has anyone ordered a Sprint Wifi Connect router before? I read that they are free (with security deposit) and they only prerequisite is that you must have a device that supports wifi calling.
  8. Yes there is. When Sprint ripped and replaced the existing network equipment and put up the NV panels and RRUs and cabinets, they added 1xAdvanced carrier cards for CDMA to take advantage of its efficiencies such as wider 1x area coverage or up to 4x capacity increase. Personally I would love to see Sprint try to purge all pre 1xAdvanced devices by offering a free trade in on existing phone so that they can configure their NV sites to use the 1x Advanced (4x capacity) feature so that they can shut down some extraneous CDMA 1x carriers to free up some spectrum.
  9. I am not complaining though. I would definitely trade a cheaper plan than a discount on a phone in the long run unless they are on an ED plan with a corporate discount of 25% on 5 lines which at at that point is cheaper per line than SERO.
  10. I hope the 3GPP wises up and just creates a single 600 MHz LTE band that encompasses all 600 MHz spectrum blocks just like PCS A-F and AWS-1 does. The last thing we need is a repeat of the 700 MHz fragmentation nightmare.
  11. SERO which means SERO chance that it will work at Best Buy since they can't access those accounts.
  12. Maybe...but I doubt it. Marcelo seems dead on focused on the NGN project and personally I would not want Sprint to even tango with Dish. They have tried this before between Ergen and Hesse and it didn't go well. Now I know Marcelo is no Hesse but ehhh. The last thing Sprint needs is a headcase like Ergen and not to mention if a spectrum hosting deal did happen it would slow down the NGN project progress.
  13. I wish I could upgrade through Best Buy.
  14. UGH...why would Dish participate in the 600 MHz auction? Haven't they hoarded enough spectrum in the past already with no plan on how to build the network out. Sheesh can't imagine their startup costs since they would need to buy LTE equipment for S-band, AWS-3, PCS-H, 600 MHz, 700 MHz E-block. Unless they can convince an OEM to build RRUs and antennas for all these different LTE bands into a single RRU that is going to be a lot of money. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/dish-exec-we-will-participate-fccs-600-mhz-incentive-auction/2015-10-07
  15. Exactly I am confident that wireless charging will become more efficient over time. If we as a society gave up on every single type of upcoming technology when presented challenges nothing would come to fruition. Instead of giving up on what looks to me as promising technology we just need to give the engineers time to resolve these challenges so that we can all enjoy it. It just reminds me when there was all that chatter here on S4GRU when LTE came out in 2012 on Sprint about how there is no way due to phone real estate that we can add so many antennas to support all the different carrier LTE bands in a single device because of the need for preamps and antennas and blah blah blah. Well fast forward 3 years later and now smartphones can support 10+ LTE bands and growing. Its just silly to think that these challenges that we know are bound to occur wouldn't have been resolved by the time we need it.
  16. The one I am trying out from Choetech from Amazon is only $35 for fast charging. I would not pay ransom prices of $70 to samsung for their fast charging wireless charging brick. I guess I am just debating if paying a little more for the fast charging wireless charger would be better in the long run. I figured if I get the free Samsung standard wireless charger (Samsung Pay promo, you can get another one if you haven't done so yet) in addition to this Choetech one for fast wireless charging, I will be set.
  17. I was reading and watching youtube videos of the Note 5 and some people were having wireless charging issues where it would either not charge (charge for like a few mins than fail) or it charges really slow (this is with the standard Samsung wireless charger). http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Wireless-Charging-Wall-Charger/dp/B00UCZGS6S/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1444146438&sr=1-4&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger I wonder if the latest system update (9/26) is to help correct the really slow wireless charging since there a lot of the Note 5's out there are reporting having faulty induction coils in the device. Anyone notice this issue on their Note 5's and whether the latest system update improved on the this issue since the release notes state "Wireless charging improvements? Either way I am ordering a couple of wireless chargers (samsung standard one above and another one that supports fast charging below) on Amazon to test this feature out within the 14 day window to ensure this feature work. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015351VC2?keywords=fast%20charge%20wireless%20charging%20pad&qid=1444146853&ref_=sr_1_7&sr=8-7
  18. Cool. This is exactly what I was looking for. I ordered the Spigen Neo Hybrid Carbon case.
  19. How did the Qi charging break on the phone? That is not a good sign.
  20. Nice...yeah I actually ordered my Note 5 today online with 2 year contract and should be getting it in the mail on Wed. Welcome Note 5 buddy. I am still looking for a case that can still perform wireless charging without effects. Btw screw Google....just like the Nexus 6, I hope sales don't do well with the Nexus 5X and 6P just like they didnt do well last year with the Nexus 6 just to show how stupid and idiotic Google's decisions (Nexus 6: Going with a 6 inch screen jump from 5 inch and Nexus 5X/6P: selling it only via Google store) have been these last 2 years with the Google Nexus devices. Too bad because the Nexus 6P is a promising device and I applaud Huawei for stepping up to the game when given the chance.
  21. Actually I haven't experienced the "convenience" factor of wireless charging yet since this would be my first phone that supports it. Personally I do prefer to plug it in for charging because it charges faster but since Samsung is having a promo for a free wireless charger for sign up of Samsung Pay I wanted to give wireless charging a shot. But wireless charging still has improvements since it is fairly new within the last few years and so while it is inefficient currently I am confident it will be improved to be more efficient as time goes on.
  22. Why CA only? Yeah I don't see that happening. But hopefully someone can answer my question.
  23. Does anyone use the Spigen Neo Hybrid Carbon case and use wireless charging here? I want to know how well the Note 5 works when placed in a case and whether it has enough contact to still be able to connect to wireless charging. There has to be cases out there for the Note 5 that work just fine with wireless charging.
  24. OEMs like Samsung like to wait for a more stablized version of the latest Android OS before making ROMs for it. I don't expect to see Samsung release any Marshmallow updates until 2016.
  25. This is the deal breaker reason in my situation in that I would have loved to pick up the Nexus 6P via carrier (whether that is subsidy, easy pay or lease options). Not to mention if it was sold by carriers, consumers can actually pay for the device in monthly payments instead of all at once even though they will have to pay the full price after 2 years. Most importantly selling via carriers allows consumers to demo the unit in-store and see if it fits their needs and lives up to the hype instead of praying that it works out for them. Instead I am going to go with the Note 5. Sorry Google but theylost a customer because they eliminated consumers options to buy and test out their products. Even Apple doesn't pull this crap and offers the iPhone at Apple store, BB/Amazon and via carriers even though they probably could get away with it because of their huge fanbase.
