  1. Has anyone seen the commercial Sprint is running for the holidays? It features lots of cat and dog video clips. What kills me is that they are standard definition, with black bars on the sides. Why, Dan, why? These are simulated images! At least simulate HD! Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
  2. Can you blame that on poor signal strength though? I know you said t mobile has poor coverage in your area.
  3. Alex Dobie of Android Central has started the rumor-mongering. Sprint LTE variant coming late Q1 2013 with 32 GB. http://forums.androidcentral.com/rumored-devices/227371-sprint-nexus-4-a.html So: is that too soon for band 26? Or Clearwire LTE? I guess it will hinge on if it is truly a fully-customized Sprint setup, or more like what Apple did where they attempt to cover the entire world's networks with as few variants as possible.
  4. Looks like people have it up and running on some Canadian LTE Band 4 networks! Definitely was not expecting that. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6474/nexus-4-includes-support-for-lte-on-band-4-aws
  5. Do you mean instead, no CDMA, no Sprint LTE variant? That seems straightforward. But surely the only reason for this chip to be in there is to simplify the addition of LTE for specific carriers. And once Google starts down that road, swapping out GSM for CDMA is not too much of a stretch.
  6. Can we say it is looking more probable that LTE enabled variants will eventually be released? Or do you really think this is a non-story, changes nothing
  7. Teardowns on anandtech.com and ifixit.com reveal that the Nexus 4 has Qualcomm's WTR1605L chip with seven-band LTE support. "Three sub 1 GHz bands, three higher bands, and one 'very high band (such as 2.5 GHz)'" according to androidpolice.com's June article on the chip Sent from my Nexus S 4G Edit: links http://www.anandtech.com/show/6440/google-nexus-4-review/7 http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/06/06/qualcomm-working-on-a-chip-that-would-support-multiple-multiple-lte-bands-carrier-networks/

    In my dreams...

The Galaxy Nexus was kind of a soft launch device for Sprint's LTE network. Let's hope a Nexus 4 variant similarly makes it to Sprint next spring as a soft launch for 800 MHz LTE! Sent from my Nexus S 4G
  9. So Sprint gets the square version of the One X, and now the square version of the Nexus? Blech Sent from my Nexus S 4G
  10. Nexus S still has no competition in its weight class as far as I can tell. Hard to call it high end these days though with single core, WVGA and no LTE.
  11. So, looks like they are two separate phones with similar internals and screens. Of great interest to me is if Sprint can get the new Nexus anywhere near its original launch, or if we get another six-month delay. Though my upgrade doesn't come due till June anyway. Sigh. Sent from my Nexus S 4G
  12. Am I correct that the Galaxy Nexus sold through Google's Play Store is only available in a 16GB configuration? Yet LTE carrier variants have 32. I assume that's what is going on here, for some reason people are acting like this leaked device will be the only version available. Sent from my Nexus S 4G
  13. OK, that makes sense. Although I still think it's on the carriers to make switching more seamless if they expect people to use wifi when away from home. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
  14. Don't you think if 4G speeds are better than WiFi in your area, this is evidence that Sprint has plenty of spare capacity in that same area? Robert being noble and forgoing cellular data in his home does nothing for me here in Charlotte. And if the network in his area does get maxed out, it won't give him better speeds than his WiFi so he'll switch back out of self-interest. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
  15. If carriers want people to offload to wifi they should work on seamless handoff from cellular data to and from wifi. When are we getting that (and will it require new devices)? Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
  16. So... what are the chances this is the new Nexus? Taylor on androidandme.com threw the suggestion out there, doesn't look like there is any evidence. But, you have to admit, there have been no leaks at all of English-language software yet, it could be anything. http://androidandme.com/2012/09/smartphones-2/lg-optimus-g-coming-to-us-in-november-as-the-next-nexus/
  17. Not particularly. Just curious about future Sprint stuff.
  18. I like the size of the M, but only if it has full HD. We already have two qHD Motorola phones. Sent from my Full Android on Crespo4G using Tapatalk 2
  19. So the obvious device is... HD display Full touch (no keyboard) Next gen processor, e.g. OMAP5 or maybe something out of the Intel-Moto collaboration Unquestionably such a device will eventually come to Sprint. The only question is, does it come August 2013 as the next iteration of the Photon, or will they push something out sooner?
  20. In this other forum, a person called Sprint complaining about slow data in the suburbs, and the rep said "Power is being shifted from suburban towers and redirected downtown for the DNC convention next week. It is just temporary" What would this mean, is it possible, is it likely to be true, etc.? http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1774825-Sprint-Data-in-Charlotte-NC-during-the-Democratic-National-Convention Sent from my Full Android on Crespo4G using Tapatalk 2
  21. That makes sense. Do you think these are temporary "boosters" or permanent upgrades?
  22. Charlotte is flying. Speeds have doubled again since yesterday. But it's the in-building coverage that makes all the difference. Sent from my Full Android on Crespo4G using Tapatalk 2
  23. See screenshot: this is uptown Charlotte, middle of a workday, indoors. As recently as last week Sprint's network was completely unusable. Sent from my Full Android on Crespo4G using Tapatalk 2
  24. Uptown Charlotte just got some upgrades in the last week. As seen on network.sprint.com. I can now get 3G inside my building where it was hopelessly slow before. Speeds improved from 10kbps to 800kbps. Now, supposedly the upgrades shown on network.sprint.com are not the real Network Vision upgrades. And I know they are working on NV in the Charlotte area now. So maybe the uptown coverage will get even better? (Somehow I doubt this.) Sent from my Full Android on Crespo4G using Tapatalk 2
  25. The gs3 has an HD screen so it needs a bigger battery to push all those extra pixels.
