  1. OK, so hopefully it's just different towers and I don't need to keep fiddling with my data settings
  2. A few days later, and I am still not seeing any eHRPD. Anthony, are you observing this uptown, or outside of the city somewhere?
  3. Yes, same experience. I had been flipping back and forth between integrated and just "lite", eventually settled on lite (with integration off) due to emoji. In the past you could enable integration either on the phone using the app, or through settings on the website, but right now neither method works. Just wait a few days to try it again I guess.

  5. http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/ Yes to band 41, no on band 12
  6. Both Android and iOS will let you customize notifications and turn that stuff off. On the Moto X it will be a little different in that the whole screen doesn't need to turn on, so it won't be nearly as bright. I think they also give you a setting to snooze active notifications at night.
  7. I would very much like to see these roaming agreements begin operating, and uscc support would be huge for when our family goes on trips to eastern North Carolina
  8. Motorola has next to no bloatware of their own and Sprint has been shuttling their stuff all into a Sprint Zone thing and/or making it uninstallable. This should meet your expectations. Yes. Maybe better reception overall, Moto talked a big game with their actively tuned antenna. Snapdragon 801 also has better battery performance over the 800 (I think largely due to baseband). You might like the material options and curved back, you might like the active notification features, you might like the amoled display.
  9. Confirmed, I am seeing LTE and EVDO but not eHRPD. Observed at Monroe/Idlewild intersection and uptown in general. Hopefully they are working on something?
  10. I had some issues briefly the other day but I am running a custom rom so I always blame myself.
  11. Battery testing for phones is in a weird spot right now. Suppose the most battery-draining things about my phone right now are straining for a data signal, and acdisplay for pseudo active notifications. The new Moto X has additional LTE bands and "true" active notifications. These features could result in significant improvements in battery life for me with identical usage, but it will not show up in a battery test which is cycling through web pages with full signal strength at x nits of brightness etc.
  12. So it looks like Moto X model XT1092 (not officially announced for Sprint) supports all these bands, correct? Is this the first phone with full LTE band support for Sprint and all potential CCA partners?
  13. Actually this is ok. It reminds me of the Sondheim musical Into The Woods: Baker's Wife: "I see you've the red cape." Baker: "Yes, only two more items left to locate." Wife: "Three." Baker: "Two. I've the cape and the cow." Wife: "You've the cape!" Baker: "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE COW?!" See http://en.m.wikiquote.org/wiki/Into_the_Woods
  14. T mobile is getting the big one. The one I like is the "compact" version, no US carrier announcements yet
  15. Want http://thenextweb.com/gadgets/2014/09/03/sonys-xperia-z3-compact-smaller-android-smartphone-top-tier-components/
  16. In the original FCC filing, the Nexus 5 was supposedly smaller than the Nexus 4. I wouldn't read too much into these numbers.
  17. Just confirmed in a chat that existing discounted lines are grandfathered in to the $15 access charge (as long as one line on the account qualifies)! Thanks @utiz4321 for pushing this argument, I had this wrong Megan: Thank you for visiting Sprint. What questions can I answer for you today? You: I am interested in the new family share plan Megan: I would be more than happy to provide you information on the Sprint Family Share plan. You: can you quote out a price for my account if we were to switch all 3 lines to that plan, with 20GB of shared data? Megan: You can change your plan to the Sprint Family Share plan if any of line in your account is upgrade eligible or you purchased any device through the Sprint Easy Pay program or you will add new line of service in your account. You: my line is upgrade eligible so we meet that condition Megan: Perfect! Megan: Then your monthly bill will be $145 excluding taxes. ... Megan: There is a monthly data access charge added for each device sharing your data. The amount varies by the data option you choose and how you acquire the device: * Phones purchased at full price or your own Sprint phone: ---$25 for 600MB to 16GB or ---$15 for 20GB to 60GB * Phones purchased at a discount: $40 for all data share levels. * Tablets: $10 for all data share levels. * Mobile broadband: $20 for all data share levels. . We-Go and Phone Connect devices are not eligible for this plan. You: what I need to confirm is, the other two lines on my account which are not upgrade eligible You: are those access charges $40 each You: or $15 each You: you originally said $145 total monthly bill Megan: You will charge $15 for each line. Megan: Only one of the line should be upgrade eligible for the plan change and when you will go with the 20GB data then charge for each line will be $15. Megan: The $40 charge for those line which will purchase at discounted price on today or after that. You: so the additional lines are "grandfathered" in and treated as non-discounted Megan: Yes, you are correct.
  18. Definition of "non-discounted" does include "people who bring their own phone", in addition to easy pay. http://support.sprint.com/support/article/FAQs_about_Sprint_Family_Share_Pack/85ba5891-1b6a-4ebf-9f2c-e16eec3ce55f?INTNAV=SU:SprintFamilySharePack:Mobile:08182014:Learnmore
  19. There is definitely nothing on that page indicating that phones under contract will be treated as "non-discounted", in fact they show a separate price category for such phones. You can hope or assume that they'll make a special offer but that is not stated. The restriction is that you can't switch to the family share plan at all unless one line is upgrade eligible. There is no language saying that all phones on the account get the same device fee if you do decide to switch.
  20. That says you can switch your account to the new plan. It doesn't say at what price. I would venture to guess that the lines that are upgrade eligible/not under contract are priced at $15, the lines that are still under contract are priced at $40
