  1. Everyone in LA should get the Sensorly application to help map out coverage. If you look at the image below (click the link below the image for an interactive map) you can see LTE has popped up on Sensorly's maps. http://sensorly.com/fullscreen/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint Here's a link to the Android application https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sensorly.viewer
  2. I'll have to check what they're listing the signal as i.e. RSSI, RSRP, etc...
  3. Download the Sensorly application and turn on active mapping so coverage you pick up is shown on the Sensorly LTE map for Sprint. You can see that map here Here's a link to the Sensorly application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sensorly.viewer&hl=en
  4. I've used Verizon LTE at -113dBm here in Ohio. It works quite well, but even with full signal I can't get more than 10/10Mbps.
  5. You have a Droid Charge, it's a really crappy phone. Get a phone running a real copy of Android. Check out phones that can run AOSP.
  6. Speeds will lessen slightly but they'll still be faster on average than the other carriers due to site density. Your LTE speeds should stay pretty stable for quite awhile. Sprint has enough spectrum to deploy a couple of LTE carriers if needed.
  7. A 25% failure rate sounds quite horrible, that doesn't make things look good at all. I would expect these contractors to do a much better job especially since they don't get paid until a site is accepted.
  8. Use the application anyways, it'll map LTE even when you aren't paying attention to your phone. So if it pops back up it will be reported and posted to sensorly's maps.
  9. Even their schedules are extremely optimistic, they seem to want thousands of sites done each month when it seems vendors/contractors are only able to pump out ~500/mo. I could be completely wrong and they could be meeting the schedule without any problems but the approval process is what's making it look like they're going as slow as molasses. There's no way to know the truth as you only get accepted sites. It would be nice to here from sources within Ericsson, Samsung, and Alcatel Lucent to see what production rates actually are.
  10. I guess they're actually going to hit 12,000 sites or more by the end of the year at this rate. It seems like they're stepping things up. Samsung has been going pretty slowly compared to the other vendors, although it may be because of back haul more than anything. Currently Samsung has half as many sites done as ALU and Ericsson do separately. I really hope they can show that they're going to be able to get things done.
  11. Better idea, get an Android phone like the Samsung Galaxy S3. Samsung seems to be able to keep up with demands and not make a device with tons of defects.
  12. Custom ROMs have completely fixed any GPS issues I've had on my phone. I have the Nexus S 4G which is a Galaxy S based device and a lot of people have ran into the same problems with it.
  13. What you got is about on par with what you should get at those signal levels.
  14. Verizon and Sprint are co-located on the same tower. What 00002.prl does is forces you to roam on Verizon without showing that you're roaming although Sprint still logs that you're roaming.
  15. Those speeds will become much more consistent when the network fills out more with active LTE towers.
  16. Sales reps lie like it's their job, because it is.
  17. Your MSL is preset, they don't have to look at your phone, it's given to them by the OEM.
  18. When I was last in Boston proper about 2-3 months ago 3G and WiMAX was blazing fast. I was pulling about 7-12Mbit/s down on WiMAX and 0.60-1.5Mbit/s on 3G which is more than adequate.
  19. There's no LTE or 4G in any iPhone ever released. PRLs don't effect LTE or transfer rates on CDMA.
  20. Net Monitor uses GPS coordinates provided by CDMA Towers and can be perfectly accurate provided that they're providing proper GPS coordinates. Net Monitor won't work with LTE at this current time as far as I know.
