  1. So, in Chicago, you drive all day, every day, for a living. Then you are going on vacation in Vegas, and you are going to . . . drive? O-o-o-o-kay. (Alright, I realize that the vehicles will be slightly different than your usual daily ride. But, still . . . )
  2. Mike, I know you are just bubbling over with spare time, so I have a question: I just bought a shiny new LivePro projector. I would like to know what bands it is connecting to, but Google Play refuses to load SCP, saying that it is incompatible with my device. Any insights? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, Central Illinois folks. I don't mean to butt in, but you could instantly answer a lot of your questions if you had access to the Sponsor Maps. Consider a $10 or $15 donation. Not only will you be able to see the exact status of your local sites, but you'll be helping to keep this forum operating. Follow the link at just below this post if you are interested. (And I am a Central Illinois native, but I was chased out by an angry mob many years ago. I am only allowed back every 5 years for my high school reunions.)
  4. I know the information is buried somewhere in preceding posts, but when does the sign-up/conversion period end? And, if you have phones/hotspots on 2-year contracts, the total charge per phone is only $15/$20 under a converted plan, as long as you add a line & device on easy pay, regardless of where you are on the 2-year contracts? If true, I would save almost $100/month even after adding the new line. It just sounds too good.
  5. Wouldn't that be roll-up comedy?
  6. Not really very much to tell you. You turn it on, it works. It has excellent antennas. Give it a simple password and connect your devices. To manage it, connect from a pc, tablet, or phone, and link to address 192.168.1.1 from any browser. Consider changing the admin password to keep the rifraff out. That's about all there is.
  7. Wait, TMo lets you call Botswana?!?! I gotta tweet (twit?) that, and then I'm outta here!! . . .
  8. The 2nd carrier seems to have suddenly popped up all over the far Northwest. B26, not so much. Still, it's progress.
  9. They did, it's now B25. No B26 or 2nd carrier yet.
  10. Downtown C L is located dead center (emphasis on "dead") betwen the 3 primary Crystal Lake towers. Only 1 of them has B26 yet (although at least 2 popped up with the 2nd B25 carrier last week [which of course doesn't help coverage]). Strangely, there is apparently a Clear Wimax site on the giant antenna tower which looms over downtown, but there are no indications that it has been Sprintified.
  11. I am not trying to convince you to stay with Sprint, as you must do what is personally best for you. My wife has a 5C, and it seems to pick 1x800 voice sometimes, but I have never seen it on B26. I recently bought a Samsung GS5, and also have had a Zing hotspot for about a year, and have picked up B26 over much of the area on both devices. For whatever reason (and I don't have a clue what that reason might be), I think that the 5C is just not tuned correctly to easily switch from B25 to B26, even where B25 has lousy reception. My GS5 will be happily humming away on B26 while right next to it, her 5C is barely holding on to B25. I am not knowledgeable about iPhones or LTE coverage on other carriers in Chicagoland, so cannot suggest what your experience on any of them might be. I'm also not sure where in the area you live/travel. In the ultra-far Northwest where I am, B26 ceases to exist from Algonquin and Crystal Lake anywhere further north or west. In much of the rest of Chicagoland, B26 (and the 2nd B25 carrier from the US Cellular spectrum acquisition) have been reported to be quite strong in many places. Hope that was helpful.
  12. Why do you want out? If you have found another, better, less expensive plan (Sprint or someone else), by all means you should move to it. Otherwise, it is not clear what you are trying to do.
  13. I would like to match it and ask Robert to apply it to someone who could benefit from a status uplift. (BTW, for my obscure reference, Google "Dial F for Frankenstein".)
  14. So you are saying that John Legere's real name is Serena Kogan and that M. Claure is actually John Conner, and that today, August 12, is the real start of the apocalypse, even though it's now 2014 and not 1997, and that by 2018 we are all going to be nuclear toast (and our B41 cannot save us because it will be installed too late -- okay I added that one). Yet you don't account for the fact that August 12, 1997 was itself already nearly 22 years too late (ref: December 1, 1975).
  15. Excellent and thought-provoking analysis. We all should try to cut through our emotional boosterism and look at the economic realities of the current cell-phone environment, as the article's author does. While I have been a Sprint user (and, quite candidly, vocal proponent) since the last century, the fact is that Sprint does not have an emotional attachment to ME, and will do what is best for Sprint. As will TMo for TMo, ATT for ATT, and Verizon for Verizon. While I personally hope Sprint succeeds, real-world business and regulatory realities will define that result, not my boosterism nor incessant trolling and insults from a bunch of Magenta fanbois. My $0.02.
  16. Mostly likely, his Golden Parachute includes a Golden Muzzle.
  17. Nope. And to answer David's earlier question (even though he didn't ask me personally - Oww! My feelings hurt!), I am on a totally stock GS5 using the stock texting app (lame, but functional). The only thing I have that may be unusual is that I get a ridiculously strong signal from my WiFi router and have very fast internet.
  18. My GS5 has no problem sending or receiving mms (and sms and voice) while on WiFi calling. As I noted in an earlier post, my experience has been nearly flawless, which leaves me puzzled as to why others seem to have so many problems.
  19. My Airave is unplugged (shh, don't tell Sprint, they'll want it back). WiFi calling has worked nearly perfectly since I got the GS5 upgrade about 3 weeks ago. Moreover, the Airave 1900 PCS signal was not able to carry as well throughout my house as my WiFi-AC router's signal, so I get better call quality with the WiFi.
  20. This is not a generic problem with either the GS5 or WiFi calling. It has worked nearly perfectly on my GS5 in the NW Chicago burbs since I started using it about 3 weeks ago, and others in this thread have reported the same. It could be location related, but sounds more like the WiFi Calling software install went bad, and you may need to re-install.
  21. Yup, both text (SMS) and MMS work.
  22. Don't think that is quite how it works. Sprint WiFi calling is linked to specific, named WiFi access points (i.e., your router), and requires you to enter the street address where the router is located. The generic Comcast access point name will be different from your router name, so there should never be a problem. If you would connect your WiFi calling into the generic Comcast access point name, I suppose in theory there could a problem, but since you are not using a Comcast modem (hence, you are also not using Comcast WiFi), I don't see how that would happen. I have been using WiFi calling on my Comcast Xfinity cable LAN for a couple of weeks now, with almost zero problems. I do not connect through the Comcast WiFi (and I have also blanked out the public access point, which I ranted about in another post), but rather I connect through my own 5 GHz router. When I leave my house, WiFi calling shuts off and I go on the Sprint network, and when I return home, it seamlessly turns back on.
  23. In theory, the instant they turn on the 2nd B25 carrier, it should load balance 50/50 with the 1st, and speeds on both should improve.
