  1. Sprint deploying VoLTE = major disaster, in my eyes. I still remember vividly just how botched the wifi calling deployment for iPhone was. I think they need to hold off for yet awhile longer. And their low band LTE implementation is nothing like at&t's, so a VoLTE deployment wouldn't be nearly like theirs either. AT&T actually went around and super finely tuned it's B17 signal before deploying VoLTE and pretty much "forced" B17 to reach everywhere even with lighter tower density. I wouldn't trust a Sprint implementation to work unless they did the same thing, even in stronger areas in stronger markets.
  2. I believe AT&T is using Ericsson in this area, and yet I've been having these problems for the last month. After that Macrumors article went viral, music streaming has been working, but app downloads are still slow.
  3. There's absolutely nothing picky about replacing the phone for the said problem, or anything less then perfect. For the price we pay we have a right to be picky and demand nothing less than perfect in every way. The backlighting issue is a common one. I went through 5 6's last year until I got one without dark spots or dead pixels. That's one of the reasons I'm clinging to my 6 until I have good reason to upgrade.
  4. I haven't had any experience with wifi assist, so I took my phone to the farthest corner of the basement completely opposite the router (that's up two floors on the opposite corner) and found it to drop wifi when I was still able to get 10 Mbps down or so. I wasn't too pleased that it was doing that while the connection was still usable so I ended up shutting it off.
  5. I should stop worrying too, I'm on another carrier that i have a very good plan with and service that is usable everywhere, and VoLTE/HD voice that works great with no drops. But if sprint thinks the way it is is ok and leaves it that way Indefinitely, with holes, I definitely won't consider coming back unless that changes.
  6. The way that's worded suggests to me that they think LTE 800 is already tuned and optimized properly. I hope that's not true though.
  7. Well that's great. I hope something good comes of it. I fear that nobody is even aware of this "little" issue. The sad part is, this person is already looking at exercising his 14 day return period because of this. Can't imagine how many other people already hesitant but willing to try Sprint are doing so and finding the same results and canceling.
  8. Outage affected NWI as well. Hearing it described it sounds like the exact same type of outage the area experienced back in March or early April of this year. In a non related but coverage concerning matter; it appears NWI now has 2nd carrier band 41 and CA live. I know someone near me who is trying out Sprint right now and was able to get speeds just over 100 Mbps in one area, which is wonderful news! So far the closest I've ever seen on anyone was 90 Mbps on Verizon. T-Mobile and AT&T only seem to ever get Into the 70s at best. The bad news is...STILL NO B26 OPTIMIZATION!! He reports dropping off LTE all over the place to unusable EVDO quite frequently.
  9. Someone I know who lives very close to me and is using Sprint had a voice/SMS outage earlier around 5-6 PM. It may have been some sort of coincidence but it happened around the time a big storm swept through.
  10. For the sake of everyone I hope you're wrong! I personally feel that AT&T has just lost interest in keeping their network tip top while instead focusing on DTV and their new project in Mexico. I do agree that they're slipping all over the country. Chicago is not one of those places though.
  11. I've yet to see an increase in battery life, so far it has been the same which is already what I'd consider reasonable at 5 hours once I get down to 32%. I charged before bed for a change to try battery saving mode. Went to bed with it at 97% and woke up at 95% compared to probably about 92% if I had done that before. So that appears to help some. Probably my worst problem with iOS 8 was the keyboard lag, now that's fixed but I now get a lag when sending messages where the text doesn't smoothly transition from the typing box to the message bubble all the time now. Overall this has been the least buggy iOS upgrade I've had since iOS5. 6, 7, and 8 all had some kind of problem that required me to restore 2-3 times before it working right.
  12. OTA didn't work and kept giving an error for the first 45 minutes so I updated my iPhone through iTunes which downloaded the 1.8 GB file in about 3 minutes over wifi. It's working well. at&t has wifi calling on the iPhone 6 now but they aren't actually letting anyone enable it. They still won't let my Sprint 6 use VoLTE either. Makes no sense to me, it's the same damn phone...just whitelist it already! Did the OTA on my iPad and it went fine. Only gripe with iOS 9 so far is I can't turn contact pictures off, which is pretty damn good for a new iOS version.
  13. I called at&t and they told me they don't support it or any Motorola device for VoLTE. There's a speck of dirt under the glass so I'm gonna take it back and wait til Christmas and hopefully it'll have VoLTE enabled by then. I really do like this device. Fastest Android I've used yet. The large screen is fantastic. Battery life seems disappointing though. One thing I don't understand is why isn't there much info about things such as carrier aggregation on this device? I had to wait until I bought it, and used it on at&t to actually know that it supports it and works.
  14. Yeah i am on another carrier. I just stick around here because I enjoy this community.
  15. Has anyone seen if this phone actually supports VoLTE? I don't even see the settings option for VoLTE with T-Mobile Verizon or at&t SIM cards in there. I heard somewhere that Motorola stated that VZW is supporting VoLTE on this phone and thats about all I can find about it.
  16. Every time I go and build an order with that plan it shows the line access as being included. On mobile and on a computer web browser. Every piece of evidence I see indicates this promo price includes one line. Edit: checked it again and now it's showing as $100 plus $20. If that was really an error before they left it that way awhile. I wonder if someone placed an order if that would've slipped through and they would've been able to get by with no access charge. I'm sure it would've got picked up on fairly quickly though.
  17. IDK if 18 gigs is enough for you but Verizon is running a promo right now of 18 gigs for $100 and that cost apparently includes the first line. After that it's $20 per line. I know you've talked about wanting to go to them before so I thought I'd mention that if you didn't know about it.
  18. Well that's disappointing. I was hoping this year would finally be the year that Apple would just have ONE model. AT&T can take it's exclusive 6S and shove it where the sun don't shine. Another reason for me personally not to upgrade from my A1586 and wait for the 7 instead. Also at the rate they upgrade their network I probably won't see Band 30 in my corner of Suburbia until the iPhone 7S anyway. (hopefully by then I'll be a proud Sprint customer) I wonder if AT&T will at least support VoLTE on the A1687/88 models. I've had this problem with my A1586 and I've put in 5 tickets since April and they won't do a damn thing about it and keep giving me complete BS reasons about why they can't make it work. If I pop a T-Mobile SIM card in VoLTE starts working right away...
  19. This has been the least exciting iPhone announcement since I got hooked on iPhones some years ago. I'm happy that it has TD-LTE CA now, and band 12, and 2 gigs of RAM. No battery life improvements, or much else really. Very incremental. I'm definitely waiting for the 7. Also I see AT&T has its own version this year. I wonder if the SIM free unlocked model will be that one this year like last years was the Sprint version because of TD-LTE.
  20. I think the way they did "simplistic" back then was done in much better taste then alot of the "simplistic" appearances companies take these days. *I'm looking at you Verizon*
  21. Is this relating to AT&T or T-Mobile? Does Sprint even offer such a thing with Cut Your Rate Plan In Half?
  22. I know, there's been an epidemic of this lately. I try to buck the trend and change the subject back but my fingers keep typing about food instead! I guess this is what happens when a "foodie" runs a tech forum. Fellow food/tech nerds must attract...
  23. Schlotzskys opened around me I think in '99 or 2000 and I did like it quite a bit, then they closed in 2003. I got reacquainted with them in of all places, Durango, CO. I missed them! After that I made it a point to stop at as many as possible on our trip back home. Oh, another place I miss and desperately want back is Moes! that closed at the end of 2008. I could eat at that place once a week for months and never get sick of it. Can't say that about Chipotle or Qdoba. We had a Quiznos and then Jersey Mikes took over the spot. They seem to do ok.
  24. I remember when Fridays was good, we used to eat there alot as a family when I was younger! Then they started meddling with something that worked and now nobody I know likes that place anymore... Last time I ate there was 5 years ago just to see if it had improved. I remember Olive Garden being better then it is now too, though I've eaten there recently and it wasn't terrible. Just gotta know what to order and stick with something not cheesy or pasta-y We used to have a Ruby Tuesdays in the mall, I used to go for the Bison burger and it was delicious! I miss them. Ever since the dawn of strip-it-to-the-bones cost cutting after the recession started I have really grown disdainful of big box chains and chain restaurants. There's only a tiny handful of chain restaurants I really like...some of them not in my area or used to be and left... ...Anyone know Schlotzky's?
