  1. Thats a bit too much to expect from customers. There is a reason they are trying to simplify the framily plan to begin with. Further complicating usage terms leads to confusion and customer frustration. Furthermore, you can't expect for people to dump Sprint just because they go over their roaming limit once every blue moon. For example, I recently roamed and coughed up 175 MB of roaming. That has been the only time I have roamed over 20 MB in a billing cycle in my entire time with Sprint. Im sure that my 5 years of being a customer heavily outweigh that one billing period Sprint took a hit on roaming for me. There are better ways of enforcing roaming usage, but getting people to leave Sprint is not one of them.
  2. I'll say this much about Sprint. Before NV, I had trouble making indoor calls and even the simplest sms would not go out. Post NV, everything works a lot better. Just this weekend, the tower that services my house went down (im about ¼ mile away from it). Back in the day, I would have been without service, but to my surprise, I was still on B26 from the neighboring towers indoors! Phone calls were clear and coming in without trouble in HD. Because I was pulling data from so far, 3G was not working, but B26 was pulling in 1 mbps download! Before, I would have been out of luck, but with the improvements made, my service was not disrupted even with a down tower. What's more interesting is that more work has yet to be done. 8t8r radio can't get here soon enough.
  3. Got it fixed for $100 at a cellphone repair shop. Im sure the phone is no longer waterproof, but oh well. I dont plan on using it near water anyways. But is it me, or does this screen glass just seem weaker than most other phones? I treated my S3 like dog crap and never broke. I dropped it flat faced several times by accident and the screen never broke (with a Greatshield case). The S5 fell 2 feet from a coffee table and the screen shattered with the same Greatshield case.
  4. Yeah, but SEC football games at neutral sites are fair play. Which leads to women squirrel jumping the opposing fanbases. Some of the tower crews should make her an offer to join their workforce. She could leap in and out of towers without struggle and move NV along quickly.
  5. No SEC stadium sells alcohol per conference rule. Kyle Field at Texas A&M does not sell alcohol. DKR Memorial Stadium and texas university does not sell, but are experimenting with it in other athletic venues. The University of Houston does sell beer at all of their venues. Baylor doesnt sell beer because, well, they're Baptist. Thats all I know.
  6. Thats simultaneously 1xRTT and LTE service. Simultaneous EVDO and LTE doesn't exist on any network.
  7. Yeah, 1st world problems. But seriously, I have the same issue when driving on interstate. LTE seems to be more prone to signal loss in hilly terrain than EVDO is (and I'm talking B26 here). If im streaming a live radio stream, I will drop to 3G and stay there until I stop the stream. It's really annoying when you are looking up destinations since a stream can continue without a problem at .10 mbps, but loading a map is impossible. The only time ive seen my phone go from Band 26 to Band 41 while having a live stream is when I was driving away from a Sprint tower and coming up on a Clear only tower.
  8. It still wouldnt help providers like Verizon who are planning to release LTE only phones. LTE on their network still doesnt adequately cover indoors like their 1x does and it may never will.
  9. The way some of the phones work right now, I doubt that VoLTE will ever be ready. Even B26 drops indoors to a very weak EVDO. LTE coverage will have a hard time covering the same real estate that EVDO/1x did. In areas where I lose LTE, I am still able to make and receive phone calls perfectly. Ive also personally seen cases where I drop a very usable LTE signal when I put the phone on my lap. Not good if youre expecting calls to go through LTE when phones are kept in pockets. I think putting the phone in my pocket makes it lose ~8 dbm on average.
  10. This definitely looks more than just satisfying their license build out requirements if they did indeed buy out the entire lease of towers.
  11. Im not really worried about it. Outside of testing, everybody should just let the network do its job to provide the best service to you and other users around you. Screwing with band priorities just screws with the network.
  12. GS3 does have HD voice, it just doesnt give you an HD notification like other phones do. I was surprised when I had my first HD voice considering that the GS3 was an old device. But what I did notice was that if you have a bluetooth headset paired and you initiate a phone call, HD voice wont work. Even if you answer the phone physically and chose to answer via the handset. For example, if you have your phone paired to your vehicle, and you receive a call, HD voice will not work.
  13. Anyone have any experiences with fixing a broken GS5 screen? Can it be done at home? Is it hard? Expensive? My friend's phone dropped about 3 feet and landed face down. Even with a case, the floor won (just like vegas, the floor always wins)
  14. Through wifi calling or over 1x cdma?
  15. I know my tower still needs some tweaking before it is fully optimized. B26 only seems to be slightly stronger than B25 and Band 41 is also covering less real estate than wimax did. I can't get anything better than -87 dbm on B41 even if im right next to the tower. All in all, I'm looking forward to the deployment of 8T8R radios.
  16. Market: Houston City: Houston, TX 77016 (inside city limits of Houston) TAC: 9274 (taken from Signal Check Pro on GS5) Band: 26 (800) --------------------------------------------- In same location: TAC: 9224 Band: 25 (1900)
  17. My old GS2 used to be able to receive wimax inside my house at about 2-4 Mbps. My GS5 is only able to receive band 41 if I walk out to the street. So far I've been dissappointed with B41 coverage here in Houston overall. Speeds seem to degrade a lot faster than Band 25/26 as well. I hope some of this can be fixed with optimizations and the 8T8R radio heads.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but today's Sprint triband phones do have the ability to roam on Band 5 due to their support of Band 26, correct? (Of course pending any LTE roaming agreements with AT&T or U.S. Cellular)
  19. Service is still new and any bugs may get fixed on the next update. For me, everything works great except for the fact that voice seems to lag due to latancy (checked my ping and that's not it). The lag is not very bad, but it is still slightly noticeable. But everything else as far as voice calls and texts coming in seem to be more reliable than eCSFB.
  20. I hate to pull one from Sprints customer service department's page, but this is an upgrade issue in your area. Give it some time. I've seen PCS to SMR voice hand off before so just be patient and wait it out.
  21. Anytime you activate a phone online, you should get an email from sprint verifying the activation. In that email, you should have your MSL code listed as "Activation Code". Just an FYI
  22. Are you really close to a tower? I don't think I've ever seen RSRP that good for Band 41 on my phone.
