  1. Man, now I'm seriously bummed. Guess it's been a while since I checked and never noticed the change. I was so excited I was finally going to have real high speed internet at home with the arrival of LTE. I guess I will at least get the benefit of better 3G on NV, but until Time Warner (probably never) or CenturyLink (who knows when) brings something I guess I'm still stuck. I guess I could get a new LTE card as well and use that until I reach the cap, then switch over to the 3G card when I don't need as much bandwidth. But man, that gets expensive even with my discount.
  2. Sprint's broadband cards aren't unlimited anymore? Last time I looked, 4G was unlimited but 3G was limited to 5GB/month. I'm grandfathered into an old unlimited plan on 3G, otherwise I wouldn't be able to work from home. If I can't get unlimited on LTE with a broadband card then I'm in deep doo-doo.
  3. I guess I had that backwards. Was thinking "capacity" was backhaul. Thanks for clearing that up Robert.
  4. I read that write-up too Robert, but maybe I'm still missing something. What's exactly happening with the "data speed upgrade" as opposed to a "data capacity upgrade" which would be additional backhaul? I've seen both, as well as voice upgrades, in my area on the sprint website.
  5. My speeds typically crash in the evenings around 5:30-6pm and stay that way until 11 or 12 at night. They are always slow, even during the day I probably only get 200-300kbps, maybe 300-500kbps on a real good day. But at night, sometimes I'm getting dial-up like speeds, less than 100k. Now, the tower I use is more rural so it's most likely people getting home from work and using the tower a bit more, but who knows. Does anyone know, when the network.sprint.com site says a tower is getting a "data speed upgrade", what are they actually changing? I know the capacity upgrades would be more/better backhaul.
  6. Just heard them say that expenditures will really start to increase once the fiber backhaul costs start to show up. Maybe that's were most of the money goes.
  7. What I thought I heard was Network Vision spending was $54 million in 4Q11 and $104 million in 1Q12 and will double again for 2Q12. I could be "misremembering" though.
  8. Yeah, I thought that was low too considering what the total overall bill is supposed to be. They are moving according to the charts, with 600 sites live and construction supposedly started on 3,000 sites.
  9. Network Vision spending in 1Q was $104million, expected to double in 2Q
  10. Network Vision slides from the call: Showing good progress.

    1Q Network Vision Update

  12. It's passive so I would hope it would work. The only thing I might need is a new adapter depending on the type of connector the new LTE devices might have. Since you're the Wireless Wavelength guru, looking at the website of the store where I bought my antenna they have a "full-band" omni-directional antenna that looks like a good one too. The gain numbers don't look quite as good as the one I have now but I don't really understand all the numbers. What would be your opinion (if you don't mind giving it to me ) on these two antennas: http://3gstore.com/product/3047_3g4g-full-band-outdoor-omni-antenna.html http://3gstore.com/product/2293_wilson-301101-omni-external-antenna.html The second one is what I have now. Would it be worth spending the money on the newer one when LTE comes along? Thanks for the help AJ
  13. The antenna I have now shows the following support: Compatibility: 700-800 / 824-894 / 880-960 / 1850-1990mhz frequencies - 1xRTT (Sprint/Verizon 2G), EVDO/EVDO Rev-A (Sprint/Verizon 3G), LTE (Verizon/AT&T 4G), EDGE (AT&T/T-Mobile 2G), HSPA (AT&T 3G), HSPA+ (AT&T "4G"). T-Mobile 3G and 4G only where 1900mhz is being used (T-Mobile also uses the 1700mhz and 2100mhz bands in some areas; this antenna will NOT help in those cases). Does NOT work for Sprint 4G WiMAX. But at this point, none of the antennas at 3gstore (where I got it) list Sprint LTE as being supported. When the time arrives, I'll see if I need a new one or not... or perhaps a better one. And that time can't come soon enough.
  14. Thanks guys. Looking forward to the article Robert. While the hotspot is nice, I like the USB card because I have an external antenna to improve my signal at home. Then I have the USB card plugged into a Cradlepoint router so I have wi-fi in the house.
