  1. True. The EVO holds the connection for a while too, but it does drop out before other phones. It is still good though because most of the time when it does drop out, the speed test results are horrible and the 3G performs better.
  2. The only time I am in Crown Heights is when I am going to the Crown Heights/ Utica Avenue Station!
  3. I was just reading that Optimum runs Fiber to the poles outside and then they run Coaxial cable into your home, is that what they'll do to the towers?
  4. The Sponsors need to check out Brooklyn in the latest NV Progress update!
  5. They won't do 4G because the backhaul isn't available. They do lots of 3G upgrades because they have a permit for one of their sites. They would rather fix the 3G for everyone rather than hold off until 3G and 4G can be completed.
  6. I for one have recieved speeds of 16mbps by my home. Robert explained it as the tower that I was connected to probably had few people on it along with AAV backhaul. That was the highest ever. Before I got my new EVO though, on average I would get anywhere from 10 to 13 Mbps.
  7. I may be wrong here but, sites can be 3G complete and not have the new backhaul there. There can be 3G sites with new backhaul there, which there are for the most part. Then the 4G sites have 4G complete and not necessarily 3G. Then there are 3G/4G sites where both 3G and 4G are complete and operational. Then there are 3G/4G/800 sites which have 1xAdvanced on 800mhz. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
  8. Added on some LTE in Brooklyn. Not that it matters much because it was a really weak signal but it now runs all the way behind Kings County on Winthrop St. and onto Albany Ave. P.S. Now people can't hate on the EVO, it is keeping those really weak signals, not as well as the Galaxy Note 2 but still good.
  9. Wait, Verizon is providing fiber to Sprint sites in some places? If that's the case, I would hope that Verizon would be running fiber to the Sprint towers in the NYC area rather than companies like Optimum and Time Warner having to run their Ethernet.
  10. Sorry for being so general, NYC. Its just that I was in the mall roaming on Verion 1x and pages were loading perfectly and fast, but as soon as I went outside and connected back to Sprint, it was taking forever to load pages. This is not always the case though. Just wondering.
  11. I have one question, why aren't Verizon legacy sites as slow as Sprint legacy sites? Do they just have more T1's?
  12. Samsung seems to think so, because they made a post on Google+ stating that all major U.S carriers had JellyBean on it.
  13. That is because AT&T did not push it out as an OTA Software Update. You have to get it via Kies. The GS3 has JB on every major carrier in the U.S.
  14. Yeah, if you look at the updates you can see that New York is catching up again, finally after the last month and a half of almost no updates. It is going great in my opinion. I just wish that the tower nearest me got upgraded already.
  15. Sprint announced today that they are buying 100% of Clearwire.
  16. Wait, are we saying that through a software update some phones could possibly access Clears LTE network?
  17. For me there wasn't any type of placebo effect. My EVO caught on to the weak LTE signal way before my Dad's Galaxy Note 2. After running a few speed tests, I realized I was far from the 4G site, only pulling about 1 Mbps down and my phone switched to 3G which at the time was faster because not only was I 50 feet from the tower, but also because the tower had been 3G NV'd. I think that in this way, the EVO may be better than the other 4G phones. Would you rather have slow 4G or fast 3G.
  18. When I was in the Bronx running speed tests, although those towers were live, I had a hard time getting upload speeds greater than 1 Mbps. Still can't wait for LTE to make its way down to Flatlands.
  19. The 3G/4G problem has been fixed for the most part. I was standing next to what I thought was a 4G tower, but it was actually a NV 3G tower and I was picking up a weak 4G signal from a further tower. I guess that kinda explains the 1-2Mbps speeds I saw on LTE. I thought something was wrong with the tower.
  20. Power saver is actually very useful to me. And you can always turn off Connection Optimizer. They also freed up more RAM in order to make it faster overall. No problems here.
  21. Yeah. I noticed that. I think you mean Prospect Park. But yeah. LTE in the city is starting to pop up a lot more. Seems like AlcaLu is really trying to step it up in NYC.
  22. There is no bloatware. They actually took off a lot of stuff, like HTC Hub.
  23. Forget it. I found a sort of sweet spot and my phone held the signal for a long time while driving down the highway. So happy now!
