  1. I never understood this message, and it always made me laugh!
  2. I personally think that every call I make to someone on ATT sounds like they're in the backwoods of China. (Does China have a "backwoods"-y part?!) The quality of the phone also makes a huge difference. I have an EVO LTE, and my mother used to have a Samsung Replenish. The call quality was so terrible on that. She upgraded also to an EVO LTE, and instantly I noticed a huge improvement in the call quality.
  3. How strange! My number is working just fine; I switched to Sprint from Nextel like 6 years ago.
  4. I have the pro version and have the 800 and LTE alerts notified. It seems that the alerts only work if I turn my screen on while I'm in the area. Example: I enter an area I know has LTE, and I pick my phone up and turn the screen on and immediately the alert chimes it vibrates. The first time it happened I thought it was a coincidence, but now I don't think it is. I think the same happened with 800 this weekend also. I have an EVO 4G LTE, if that matters. Is it supposed to work like this?
  5. Sweet! Has anyone online gotten it "early" to do a review yet?
  6. At least 10 years ago a Nextel sales rep came into her post office and sold plans and phones to several of the carriers. She actually signed up for 2 plans because there were 6 people and at the time you could only get 5 phones on one plan. I remember we ordered 3 i60 flip phones and 3 i35 "Nextel bricks" ! Both accounts had the discount. Earlier this year, after an upgrade of one of the lines, we did have to fill out a "continued eligibility" form. She doesn't have an email address so there was a form to fill out and we had to include a copy of a pay stub, worker ID, or tax return. The other account still has the discount and has never been asked for verification. At the time I was probably a freshman or sophomore in high school so I didn't need a phone (unlike kids nowadays!). I ended up getting on the plan, too... now we are on the Everything Data 1500.
  7. We have a 25% discount...my mother is a postal carrier. A government job is good for something!! We originally had Nextel 10+ years ago, and they only offered 18%. After the merger it went up to 25%.
  8. I log in to S4GRU on my computer with my Twitter account, but the Tapatalk app doesn't recognize my Twitter user name and password. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can log in otherwise?!
  9. I took these pics today from the tower nearest my house, near Route 309 & Mountain Rd in New Tripoli. They're not the greatest, but I was wondering if anyone could identify what they are. (NV, backhaul, etc.) I was "afraid" to get any closer...something about huge electrical equipment kind of freaks me out!
  10. If it started as a cell phone, I don't think it would have a CO associated with it?
  11. Yeah, I thought mine had been upgraded, but I was out driving and went past 2 towers right next to mine. They pulled down 1.5 Mbps on average. So that told me that my average 600-700 kbps are still legacy backhaul. I guess I'm confused about what "3G accepted" means.
  12. Where does it say that?! I've only ever seen Rev. A or eHRPD.
  13. I was just in Center City Allentown, along Tilghman Street, and then went into Whitehall to get a free Slurpee at 7-11 (!!) on Mickley Rd...sometimes couldn't do a speed test, then got one of 0.07 Mbps down. Grrreat! Come on, already!
  14. I thought they upgraded the tower near my house, on Route 309 in New Tripoli, but sometimes I still get speeds in the 0.4-0.5 down range. Shouldn't they be higher than that? Right now, at 1:42 am, I just tested 0.99 Mbps. Edit: Just had a burst to 1.19 Mbps down. Still seems like NV speeds should be higher? Are these perhaps still a T1 backhaul?
  15. These plans also make no mention of data-only devices as being standalone devices. They just mention hotspots in addition to phones. I have a 12GB hotspot plan for home internet use - how would that be dealt with? Which leads me to believe these are not the only plans that will be offered.
  16. Yeah, roaming is reduced...but post-NV, won't there be less roaming needed, anyway?
  17. If I could figure out how to log in with my Twitter account to Tapatalk, I'd post pictures of speed test screenshots I took on my phone at Dan Schantz Greenhouse on Lehigh St. in Allentown today. Everytime I enter my Twitter log in name and password, it rejects it.
  18. I don't get anything close to 2 Mbps at my house. I'm lucky if I get 1. Supposedly my tower has been upgraded, but I don't feel like it feels updated. I am about 2.5-3 miles away, though.
  19. ...LTE must be coming! ;-) I hope it comes soon. I was on vacation in West Virginia in the Shentel market and there is glorious 4G in little towns in the mountains in the middle of nowhere. It was great!
  20. So, how long do you think before the release? How do you think this compares to the new LTE Mifi? I have the Mifi 4082 and want to upgrade, but don't know which one I like better, from the limited amount of into that I've seen about both. I was tending towards NOT getting the Mifi, because of issues I've had with my current one - like random, frequent disconnects while web browsing. I don't know if it's something with my device, or just the way it is designed to work, but it's my only source of internet at home and random disconnects are annoying. However, I should note that I bought it used on ebay, so perhaps that could have something to do with it. I'm hoping to see LTE turned on at the tower nearest my house any day, and plan on taking a trip to the Sprint store that day, to buy the newest hotspot, if it's released yet.
  21. Interesting! If that's the case, how do I know if I'm connecting to the same tower when the address changes? Do they do it for security reasons?
  22. Am I misunderstanding what the BSL should display? I just got the Pro version, and it is telling me all kinds of addresses where there aren't towers. (One of them was in the backyard of a residential neighborhood). What is this address that it is displaying?!
  23. Good point! No, LTE isn't a good replacement, but it's still better than satellite.
  24. Even though I can't wait for LTE, I really don't see the need to get 100 Mbps from my cell phone. I am waiting for LTE to rely on it for my home internet connection, since we have no DSL or cable available, BUT, anyone who feels the that THAT much speed is necessary probably has access to wireline service. And, if you are out and about, I can't possibly see how 20, 30, 40, 100+ Mbps is even remotely necessary. 5-6, yes I can see that. But, I'm still skeptical on the other. I feel like people get so obsessed with needing the fastest speed possible and put that ahead of network quality. Sure, other carriers might be able to be a bit faster than Sprint's LTE, but I'd be happy with a reliable signal that is useable just about everywhere. Getting 3-4 Mbps in a rural area fairly far from a tower on LTE makes me happier than 50 Mbps in a specific intersection of a large city. I'm probably the exception, but still.
