Sprint Spark rises in 10/28 Sprint Coverage map
mrknowitall526 replied to dkyeager's topic in General Topics
Philadelphia looks the same. -
That's a lot. Curious to see if that happens in the LV. Or, how soon. Verizon is the ILEC and only a few parts of Allentown have FIOS, so the rest have DSL. And if they are relying on cable companies for fiber, I think the highest Service Electric offers is 25 Mbps. Although I realize that offerings for commercial customers are different than residential. Penn Tele Data is supposed to have a pretty robust fiber network (PTD provides internet to Service Electric), so maybe they will go directly to PTD.

You could also get him the HTC Desire, it's only $216 or $9 a month on Easy Pay. He'd probably find it very similar to the EVO because they're both HTC s.

I'll be cancelling my hotspot line next week ... But that's only because we're finally getting DSL installed and have no use for it anymore!
-
We have a landline, though, but I guess that doesn't count.
-
In case anyone who read this was curious, just placed my DSL order today. 1.1-3 Mbps from Verizon. Was hoping for 3.1-7 but we'll see if they can increase the speed. Supposed to be installed on Wednesday. Some how we didn't qualify for a self- install

Speaking of EOL, why is Sprint still selling the EVO LTE online?! Edit: okay looks like they finally stopped but it was there fairly recently still
-
I'm still impressed with the E8. (Although, I will say, most of my excitement is due to the fact that I had no idea until getting this that there was any B26 in my area ... or B41, for that matter!) I also am really surprised at how much better the reception is for 1X and EVDO than the EVO LTE was. There are places in my house that I couldn't talk on the phone with before, and now I can. And other places where riding in a car I couldn't use any data because 3G was around -105. Now it is in the low -90s in the same spot. I can't believe that! The battery life seems great too. Yesterday when I went to bed I had 40% left, the day before that I had 57%. I've been up since 6 am today and used it a decent amount during the day and it's at 70%. (I should say, though, that I am at work and have had B26 all day with a strong signal...so battery life is good because of that!) I hope that HTC doesn't slack off on releasing updates to the E8, since it's the same as the M8. I was concerned about that, because it has 4.4.2, and thought the M8 was more up to date than that (but could be wrong), but we'll see what happens I guess.

Does it drive anyone else crazy how the media is freaking out about Apple Pay, yet Google Wallet has been around for 3 years?! I don't get it - why can't Google get the credit where credit is due?
-
Me neither! Did you see the amount of B26 acceptances ?!?!?!? Some of them were B41 also but weren't listed, I'm guessing because they aren't 8T8R

Had the E8 for a day so far and I'm really liking it! I'm realizing there are only slight differences between Sense 5 and 6, but enough to make it feel "new" again. Loving the native HTC keyboard emoji support! I'm really surprised by the increased reception strength ... didn't realize the EVO LTE was as bad as it was. I haven't driven around a whole lot, but I did pick up some little blips of B26 that I had no idea were there. Not sure about the battery life so far - currently at 10% but it's been off the charger since about 5:45 this morning. I realized in the middle of the day that for the location setting you can change it to use lower battery power, so I did that. I've also been using it a lot and playing around with it today, too. Came with 4.4.2 installed. Trying to find a suitable case. I like the look of the Dot View, but I think it might get annoying to have to hold the flip back to use the phone.

Found little blips of B26 in Wind Gap and near Moorestown at 512 & 946. Not a tower anywhere close by that has LTE. I can't wait for the B26 rollout!

Premium Caller ID -- see Name and Number
mrknowitall526 replied to sexpanther's topic in General Topics
Caller ID on landlines doesn't come up until the 2nd ring. -
Took this in a parking lot at Kutztown University tonight. I've never experienced LTE so fast ... And I don't think it's B41. Didn't realize just how poor the reception on the EVO LTE had really been!

Yikes, 57,000 feet! That's somewhere around 11 miles. That's crazy! Doesn't make much sense that they would replace the lines but not upgrade to DSL... but maybe it is coming soon. Sometimes they way they wire up places makes no sense - makes you wonder what they were thinking when they did it in the first place!
-
Interesting! Besides Verizon offering FIOS to a limited area in a city 20 minutes from me, there is only one other place with FTTH and it's a small borough with a municipal fiber operator. Once they came to town the local cable co was forced to be priced competitively or go out of business for lack of customers.

Definitely will! Should be here tomorrow!

I know it's not super Sprint-related, but I thought this might be an interesting topic. I live in PA and am set to get DSL next week per the state's universal broadband law. I happened to write this article that got posted on DSLReports today... http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Filling-in-the-Broadband-Gaps-Your-Tales-of-Connection-130871'> http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Filling-in-the-Broadband-Gaps-Your-Tales-of-Connection-130871 Anyone have a similar experience where you live?
