I hope sprint participates in this auction as well.
Sprint is listed as a confirmed carrier for IWPC event June 17-20, 2014 that's attending 3.5ghz lte advance event
http://www.iwpc.org/workshops/2014-softbank-lte-advanced/agenda.html
And SoftBank has been testing 3.5ghz band for almost a year now

Hopefully sprint plans to launch it sometime this year too.

I had a dream Sprint purchased Dish.....wouldn't that be something else lol

Does any service provider have the upper A block? Can Sprint acquire some?
-
anyone know a real timeframe for this yet. or has it been pretty quiet?
Sprint plans to add 700mhz to select smartphones starting next year. We will probably learn more soon but I won't be surprised if we get more info late this year or early next year
-
Any recent update on this?

Apparently Tmobile wants a break up fee of 1 billion plus

You service will be throttled until you're on a site that's not congested. It could be that same site when the congestion is relieved.
I know but I swore they said their unlimited data is "truly unlimited, no data cap or reduced speeds" I'm not even close to the top 5% so this will not affect me lol
-
Hmm but they pledge unlimited data and I thought the clearwire spectrum was to aid them to keep offering unlimited data.... Guess not

Oh and John takes control of the US market to run as needed and Dan heads up Europe.

We'll see. You notice Dish has been very quiet. Like I said before I feel Sprint + Dish and tmobile are all working together to make something happen. We'll see what happens though but I'm sure it's going to be crazy

I don't mind John L. He's obviously the kanye west of CEOs but he definitely keeps me entertained and I catch myself "what's next from this guy"
We don't know exactly if SoftBank will keep the Sprint brand...they might ditch it in favor of tmobiles

Still not sure what's hold up for Frederick MD...they should of had LTE a long time ago

I am against this merger, Sprint should focus on itself and its network. Once Network Vision/LTE is 100% complete and Spark is in the top 100 cities, Sprint shouldn't have a problem luring customers back onto its brand new shinny network coupled with the framily plan and any new goodies Sprint has up its sleeves.
Its going to take more than a "New Shiny Network" to lure customers. Pretty much Sprint/Softbank will have to use "Network Vision" to restructure its own brand. Im curious to see how the "Americas Newest Network" campaign will turn out.
-
I still fail to see how this merger makes Sprint a better company. I think the money is better spent building a better company and driving t-mo into the ground to the point that if you want to buy them then you can get them cheap. Also consider this, Sprint would inherit all of the well documented shortcomings of T-Mo along with the alleged data whores who left sprint for t-mo.
Idk I see both sides of the argument for this merger. My only concern about this merger is the network deployment. I know Network Vision is already funded but I hope this merger doesn't put things on hold.
I guess we should wait and see what Softbank/Sprint presents when they make an official offer.
-
I'm for this merger but my only concern will be the spectrum holdings. Will this new company be required to divest spectrum? And where does Dish fall into this?
-
I am still against the merger.
Why so?
-
Paynefanbro the first post clearly states otherwise.
So this whole Topic is bogus and made up by bucdenny?
It's probably a plan that sprint doesn't advertise but the plan code is still in the system.
For example a new customer can still get that everything data share but the REP has to manually search the plan code to use it.

Nexus 5 spark update started rolling outI had one, sent it back after realizing the battery life wasn't too great, and it's still not officially Spark enabled. More importantly I'm too tied up with iOS.

Sounds like they better get to rolling out that 2.5/2.6 stuff nationwide right away.
Sadly they won't

Im officially buying a new phone next year. So far the 2015 devices will be unl-ockable out the box, support the roaming hub, and carrier aggregation on the 2.5 band. Crossing my fingers some of the devices will support the 600mhz band as well and volte lol.
I plan on using my insurance to trade in my iPhone 5 to a 5c which will give me the band 26 addition so I feel instead of buying the iPhone 6, perhaps the 6s will be a better investment since I have to buy phones full retail price
-
Any new news of when things will take off for this? or if they are planning some sort of announcement in the future for when the companys will coincide? i travel back home to south dakota often where James Valley Communications is. it would be great to use my phone there without having to worry about data roaming.

I'm liking these commercials! Now if they can make NV commercials too!
