  1. I'm attempting to locate new sites in my area (Bristol, TN/VA and surrounding areas) two sites I have done (site 1) serving cells 100, 269, and 438, site (2) serving cells 62, 231, and 400 (not going to give out any site id's here)...now what is confusing I'm picking up serving cell 45 at home but fades away as I attempt to track it down the signal is pretty weak as it is when I am getting it at home (-114dB) assuming this is correct it would be serving cell 45, 214, and 383. Problem is I haven't come across a 214 or 383...any ideas?
  2. Mike, the CQI seems to bounce around from 1 to 3dB when driving around and then stabilizes at 1dB when not mobile. Regarding the wacky behavior, the only tower that could be getting a NV upgrade is one site which I was connected to when I took that screenshot from home (BID 53377) which is located in the middle of town, the other 3 towers are located on the Bristol, VA side and haven't seen any backhaul upgrades until confirmed by BVU Optinet (see the Kentucky/Nashville markets thread in the sponsors interactive maps section) that they were going to be laying fiber to those 3 towers.
  3. Yes, eHRPD is a good indication that LTE is on the way in the near future.
  4. Received the OTA 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3 Mike, looks like more LTE goodies in the info "CQI" wasn't there prior to the 4.3 update. And as you can see Mike LTE 311490 is alive and well still
  5. I don't know what's going on if its the network or SignalCheck app, starting today app shows me on and off of eHRPD and back on EVDO Rev. A here at the house I'm always on eHRPD with the occasionally rouge LTE signal, now I'm back on EVDO. it erratically keeps showing "null" on and off in the notification bar and displays N/A for the signal. No matter what I do I can't get back on eHRPD. Now my phone takes hard handoffs going from 3G to 4G LTE coverage. Also there seems to be a tower down where LTE has been completed shows I'm on LTE but will never pull up webpages I can't get data coverage on any of the sectors of the site. Anyone else experienced the disappearance of eHRPD and back to EVDO?
  6. Mike, I've attempted to take a screenshot of the "null" where "Sprint" should be when you use the pull down notification. It displays null for a second or two then doesn't show anything, sometimes it even displays "(-)." Also I've gone into the the LTE engineering screen and on the engineering screen it shows my MCC-MNC as 310120 but when looking at your app it still shows 311490??
  7. Its not connected to LTE when it displays "null" its connected to eHRPD, I believe they are working on the tower closest to the downtown area now. Last week 3G speeds where very slow .20-.35Mbps wiith pings in the 300-400ms during peaks hours, did a speedtest yesterday in the same area around the same time and now getting sub 150ms pings with speeds of 1.55Mbps on 3G. It only displays null at this particular tower, but I don't know if this is a sign of NV or not hopefully Ericsson showed back up in this area to finish up the work.
  8. Mike, Just to give you an update to what we were talking about, I'm still seeing LTE 311490 when connecting to LTE in this area. Also I noticed when in a certain part of town now I get "null" in the pull down notification bar when connecting to that particular tower, when it hands off to another tower it goes back to "Sprint."
  9. Just arrived south of the high risk area to chase this storm system, the SPC has issued a high risk for most of Indiana, Western Ohio, Central/Eastern Illinois, and Northern Kentucky if your live in this area or around the moderate risk area please tune in and listen to the weather. There is a good chance for violent long-track tornadoes today as well as large hail and damaging wind, this could be a particularly dangerous situation for about 10% of the United States population. Currently staging in Washington, Ky and either going to move further west or drift north to chase (hopefully before the daylights fizzles out) will take pictures of any tornadoes I am able to chase. Storms should arrive around 4-5pm in the form of a squall line with supercells ahead of the front in central/southern Indiana.
  10. Sent you a PM, Sprint B41 still showing up when connected to LTE on pretty much any tower I connect to on the upgraded side of town.
  11. Mike, I meant to tell you in my post above thank you for the app you developed, BlueLineComputing rocks! I use the app to track down the towers I'm connecting too and see if they have turned on LTE on the tower 2 blocks from me (patiently waiting). I was looking at the "wish list" sure do hope you can get some more info for non-HTC devices, hopefully when the 4.3 update rolls out for the GS3 it will show more info. Thanks Mike!
  12. On the SignalCheck Pro app it shows "connected to LTE" and shows Sprint (B41) 311490. Where I live the LTE is still being deployed half of the city has it and the other half doesn't yet and I live right in the middle of town so some nights at home I get LTE some nights I don't until they finish up the work here. 1900 LTE is very good here, never drop an LTE signal on the side of town where it has been finished, also every tower I hit shows Sprint (B41) 311490. MCC - MNC 310 - 120 <-------This is under the LTE Engineering menu...don't make fun of my crappy LTE signal I'm in the middle of the house with the tower I'm getting the LTE signal which is about 1.7 miles through hills and trees lol
  13. Was driving around yesterday and today and noticed while using the Signal Check Pro app on my Galaxy S3 the 4G LTE was on and had "(B41)" beside it. Is this band 41? I went into the LTE engineering menu and shows band 25 didn't start doing this until the yesterday. Anyone else seen this, or knows what B41 means?
  14. I didn't hear that but I heard that global warming was caused by him burping too much.
  15. Fiber spool across the street from cell site, I don't know if its BVU OptiNet or Charter Communications looks to be running on the CATV line.
  16. I'll snap a picture of the spool of fiber that is hanging on the pole across from this tower, I think the fiber belongs to BVU OptiNet which is a municipal FTTH broadband company here in Bristol, VA but I'm not 100% sure. I know that WindStream has a map that shows where there fiber runs to cell towers as backhaul and this tower is one of them. I don't know if WindStreams is providing the backhaul using BVU OptiNet's fiber network or Charter Communications, its just odd that there is a large amount of fiber spooled up like that.
  17. If it has the LTE signal is bad and I'm only 2 blocks from this site. It's possible the tower/basestation has been upgraded but the backhaul hasn't been completed, like I said there is large spool of fiber hanging on a pole across the street from this site, but I have no clue if the fiber is for the tower or not.
  18. There isn't anyway to tell if its AT&T or Verzion? I'll try to get some better pics of the site when I get some extra time. I don't think Ericsson has upgraded this site yet I'm still sitting on eHRPD, I do get a rouge LTE signal but the signal is terrible (-115dB).
  19. Can anyone tell me where Sprint is located on this mono-pole tower? This tower is about 2 blocks from my house and is suppose to be slated for network vision upgrades, I don't think there has been any activity as far as work being done to it yet. I can't see the basestation due to the "landscaping and shrubs" surrounding the base to hide the equipment due to the tower being right in the middle of a neighborhood. There is about 500' of fiber coiled up on a pole across the street from this tower. What should I look for once upgrades begin...if they do... Jani Hammitt Drive, Bristol, VA 24201
  20. Do you know where these 4 towers are in Bristol, VA, plus the 1 in Bristol, TN? Since im on the Galaxy S3 1900Mhz will be the only way I'll get LTE I get great 1x PCS coverage at the house. I am picking up eHRPD up in and out of the house and I get a rouge LTE signal but it usually hovers around the -114dB range which is bad, I'm hoping this is just temporary.
