    In my dreams...

Yea I mean I debated way too much on which route to go. Nexus 4 with pre-paid or Optimus G with Sprint. I decided pre-paid is not for me, as I use too much data. T-Mobile is not an option for me here because of their atrocious coverage. I'm loving my unlimited data and other than the slow speeds which will be fixed with network vision, I'm actually very happy with Sprint as far as customer service goes and prices. I finally just decided to pull the trigger and pre-order the G and I'm glad I did. The phone is an absolute beast and now I don't have to go crazy trying to pick which phone to get. I'll be happy with it regardless, but I do hope they figure out a way to unlock the boot loader.

    In my dreams...

I always thought Sprint and Google had a good relationship but even if they do later release a Nexus 4 on Sprint, it's too late for me at least. I'm not waiting months to get a phone that was released now. I've already pre-ordered an Optimus G, full price at that. Too bad Google didn't include a separate LTE variant off the bat cause I would have been all over it.

    In my dreams...

Google pretty much stated they are done with LTE and jumping through carrier hoops. You will not see a Nexus phone on Sprint/Verizon until their next release near the end of 2013, if that.

    LG Optimus G

I'll be buying the Optimus G. The Nexus doesn't have a CDMA/LTE variant so that leaves sprint users in the dust. I use too much data for pre paid plans like straight talk, and T-Mobile has horrible coverage where I live. I'm buying it off contract though, in case LG does decide to keep up their record of updating phones. Also I want to stay out of a contract so I can get a phone next year that can take full advantage of network vision (800/2500 MHz LTE). I'm only hoping that development is decent for it, as I love the phone itself.
  5. Guilty as charged lol though I don't care as long as I get decent speeds.
  6. Slightly off topic but I don't feel it deserves its own thread... How will 800 mhz 1X signal be displayed as compared to LTE/evdo? Like if you're in an area with LTE and 800 mhz 1X, obviously the signal strength will be different. Wasn't sure how they were going to handle that.
  7. The unlocked version doesn't, but they still offer a CDMA/LTE variant for Sprint/Verizon. I hope you're right though. Nearly everything has been leaked about the Nexus 4 and I haven't heard a peep about LTE, in fact I've heard the opposite in that it won't have LTE. Android and Me has been pretty spot on with all of their information so far. Also the Nexus 4 supposedly went through the FCC already, with GSM bands but no LTE. But I know nothing is certain until Google announces it officially.
  8. From everything I have been hearing about the Nexus 4 not having LTE and being sold only unlocked with GSM, I might end up buying the Optimus G for Sprint off contract. I can't believe Google would take a step backwards with no LTE, when it has the capability built in (unless they actually changed out the modem for the Nexus model, but as far as I know it uses the same integrated modem as the G does). ATT prepaid is WAY too expensive considering how much data I use, and T-Mobile has atrocious coverage around my area. I was waiting all year for this phone and it's perfect in every way except you won't be able to get it on Sprint, or even Verizon but I refuse to pay the ridiculous amount Verizon charges. If I buy the G off contract, I won't be stuck if LG keeps up its record of not updating their phones. Also I want to be able to buy a phone next year that supports all of the LTE frequencies Sprint will be utilizing for network vision (1900 mhz in addition to 800 and 2500 which no phones currently support). Guess my decision will be made October 29th when Google officially announces the Nexus 4.
  9. Saw this a few mins ago. This is a good move, Sprint/Clearwire have great potential if they coordinate and work together. I think Soft bank is going to do great things with them.
  10. As far as I know sprint isn't really focused on adding more towers, mainly focusing on network vision. Which is good and bad. Network vision will be awesome once its completed but it won't fix all of their coverage issues. Sprint has quite a few dead zones around here and since Verizon bought altell, their rural coverage is unparalleled. I seemed to have good coverage back when I had att but I didn't pay much attention because I didn't have a smartphone back then
  11. Yea, I'm really hoping they will offer 32 gb with LTE. Google couldn't be stupid enough to release a flagship nexus at the end of 2012 with no LTE. Also hoping the camera is quality... I'm not sure why they ditched the 13 mp from the Optimus g.
  12. There's been so may rumors that came out last week about this phone. This is the nexus I've been waiting for but I really hope its got more than 16 GB of storage, I would prefer 32. Other than that its about perfect, just hope it looks good.
  13. My friend told me to try slacker, it's ok so far but I prefer Pandoras whole music genome prediction better. I should check out grooveshark. Is there a noticeable difference in audio quality with Pandora one over the standard app? I also have tried Google music but it is far from a polished experience. It frequently just skips songs while in the middle of a track and a lot of the times will say that a certain track isn't available. How is one song available while the next one on the album isn't?
  14. I actually had it at one point but for some reason I got frequent drop outs. Not sure why, I bought a fairly nice kit. Didn't use it much after that, it might be better now though.
  15. Is the ability to listen to Pandora in the car too much to ask?
  16. OK,I'm assuming then my phone does not have that. Are most newer Sprint phones svdo capable? Thanks for the suggestion lynyrd, I might look I t that.
  17. Robert, thank you for your info and opinion. That's pretty much everything I was looking for. While Sprint seems like it has tons of potential in the near future, I think for now Verizon is looking like a better option for me. Verizon has my market blanketed with LTE and with how I use it and the places I go they just seem better suited for me. However, I'm very excited to see how Sprint turns out with NV completed. With 800 mhz 1XA/LTE paired with Clear's 2600 TD-LTE they are bound to come out on top. I certainly would revisit them when my Verizon contract ended. Definitely still going to donate to this site and keep informed. Jeff, yes I meant wimax. My work has excellent service, I get anywhere from 3 mbps to 12 mbps depending on the time of day. My house doesn't have wimax anywhere near it and I have 1-2 bars of 3G. Wimax is great at my work but it's more than past due for me to get a new phone which won't support it and it's pretty awful everywhere else. Streaming music is important to me, I just bought a new headunit with an aux input for my Camaro so I could finally listen to pandora in my car and now that I have it, I can't even use it half the time. Plus I don't get good service at any of my friends apartments. If I have 6 GB I won't have to worry about going over, that will be plenty for me.
  18. I'm just wondering when Sprint plans to have iDEN completely shut down and enable 1X Advanced/LTE on 800 mhz. My upgrade has been up since July, and as of now my contract is expired. I am really trying to hold out on Sprint's NV but I'm getting so fed up with how things are here (note this isn't meant to be a bitching/bash Sprint post). I know they have the potential, but will their 800 mhz network be comparable to Verzions coverage when they roll it out? Currently, Verizon has by FAR the best coverage here. It's to the point where I can only stream Pandora half the time when I'm driving, both because of the slow speeds but mainly because I just don't have coverage. The majority of the time, it will stay on 1X while I'm streaming, even if I pass through an area with 3G. At my friends house last night, I'm sitting there trying to hold on to a very faint 1X signal while he has full 3G on Verizon. It's like this in a lot of areas around here. Seperate of Sprints actual network, as far as I know there have been no phones released to date that will support their 800 mhz LTE, and same goes for Clearwire's 2500 mhz LTE. I don't want to buy a phone that won't have the capability to use Sprints 800 mhz LTE when it comes and be stuck with it like that for two years. Now I know a lot of you are going to say, well just jump to Verzion then. Well I would, but my bill would jump about $40 considering I need a 6 GB plan. I know that's a lot, but I just started a full time job last month where a lot of the times we have no business so all I have to do is play on my phone. Checking my Sprint usage, I burned through 5.5 GB's of 4G this month. I'm willing to stay with Sprint if 800 mhz should be up in say half a year or so, and providing that the new Nexus phone(s) support it.
  19. Thanks for the info guys. Seeing as I probably won't be getting LTE for a while, I'm happy to wait on WiMAX the way it sits.
  20. Every single one of my recent wimax tests have upload speeds of 1.7 mbps, literally within a few kbps of each other, regardless of the time of day. I am curious though, since it appears clearwire is upgrading their backhaul (in addition to less wimax users), what is the benefit of jumping to LTE? I have always read/heard that wimax was not the problem (in reference to coverage), but that it was the spectrum. This makes sense, but Clearwire is depolying LTE on the same spectrum they are currently using for wimax, so what's the benefit?
  21. I have also seen much improved WiMAX performance. Early morning/night I'll get a consistent 12 Mbps, during normal hours it will stay around 6 Mbps, and peak hours it won't go any lower than 3 Mbps. This is making it easier to hold out for the new nexus phone.
  22. This. I figured that's the reason why I've been getting kick ass wimax speeds lately, like consistent 12 mbps near downtown Cary. Makes it much easier to hold out on a phone that I really want.
  23. I haven't noticed 3G being any better in Cary, but man 4G (wimax) is absolutely flying. I don't know how long it's been like this at my new job which gets great wimax reception, but before when I worked not even a minute down the road it was pretty terrible. I was a delivery driver at that job as well so even all over Cary/Apex the speeds were decent but constantly dropped connection. Before it was normally like 2 mbps down. Now my last tests are 12875 kbps, 5714 kbps, 11662 kbps, and 12225 kbps. Not bad! This is making it a little easier to wait on upgrading my phone. I really want the next Nexus and hopefully by then Sprint will have some LTE around here.
  24. That would be up to the manufacturer to sort that out for each phone though. Making a single chip would be easier for Qualcomm instead of tailoring one chip to a certain phone.
  25. That's an insane amount of savings. Good for Sprint. I have definitely noticed the IDEN towers being shut down around here. My work uses them to talk to drivers while we're on the road and the service as been, well, shit lately lol. A lot of the time they won't even have signal in our store where they used to have almost full service, and calls won't go through pretty often. I asked my boss what corporate was going to do or switch to and he had no idea, I don't think corporate even knows Nextel is getting shut down lol.
