  1. iOS 8 Beta 2 has been released, and I am currently downloading and installing it as we speak. Will update everyone on anything new and will report on whether or not it is more stable than Beta 1. -Anthony
  2. I'm not sure about that, but hey! Coverage is Coverage! Haha -Anthony
  3. When can we expect to use this expanded coverage? I see that Carolina West Wireless is on it and I could REALLY use that in the next couple months! -Anthony
  4. Yeah really the only way I could tell it was HD voice was when both my father and I were sitting there wondering why the call sounded so different. The first thing I had done was check Field Test, but nothing gave me the slightest inclination that said that it was HD Voice. -Anthony
  5. That's awesome! I'll probably swing by there today to take a look at it, because I live in Rocky River Crossing, and I can actually get a clear line of sight to that tower from my neighborhood. I'll take a look and see if there is any progress! -Anthony
  6. I think I know of another site in our market that has ALU B41 gear on it also. I will post pictures once I can get back out to the site with a good camera! -Anthony
  7. The panels that are installed are still capable of 800, but they only install RRU's that are capable of 1900. -Anthony
  8. The equipment that is added to make a site 3G upgraded contains the 800 equipment in it. -Anthony
  9. That is another thing about these new OS's: the fact that they have finally made their storage plans practical. 4 bucks a month for 200 GB's of iCloud Storage? Can't beat that! -Anthony
  10. The quick type feature actually works pretty great! It really does what Apple said it would do, like suggesting me words based on what I have texted that contact before. It is pretty intuitive, and it's probably the one thing that has worked without a hitch in iOS 8, at least for me. -Anthony
  11. If you are going from iOS 7 to the iOS 8 beta, then yes, it needs to be done through a computer. If you are on the beta already, then you should get an OTA update through the settings app when beta 2, 3, and so on and so forth come out. You don't need to do a restore when going to the beta, you can update straight to it by downloading the IPSW onto your computer then holding "Shift" on "Check for Update" for the device you would like to put on the beta. -Anthony
  12. Well, I figured out what was randomly using my location. In iOS 8, the App Store periodically checks your location services to recommend an app for you to use based on where you're at. For example, if you are at a Starbucks, the App Store will see that you are at Starbucks, then in the bottom left of your lock screen it will show the Starbucks app icon, and one can slide up on it to open Passbook to your Starbucks gift card. Now, while it is a great feature, it can cause your battery to drain if the device can't get a good GPS signal. So, I turned it completely off (in iOS 8, you can limit an app to use your location "Always", "Only when using the app", or "Never". I set the App Store to "Never" on my phone). Now, you would think that would stop the App Store from using your location, period, but no. I would look at my lock screen every 10 minutes or so and I would still see my location services being used, which left me stumped as to what was using my location. First, I turned off everything that said that it had recently used my location, but I was still seeing the location services icon in the status bar of the lock screen and home screen at random times. So then I COMPLETELY turned off location services, and sure enough, shortly after I get a pop up saying something along the lines of 'The "App Store" needs permission to use your location. Go to the settings app to enable location services'. So I found my culprit, and I can't stop it from happening unless I leave the location services completely off, which means I lose the ability to get the GPS location of my phone when using Find My iPhone or Maps. Luckily, Apple included a Bug Reporter app to the beta, so I submitted a bug report with a detailed description of the problem, so here's to hoping they get it fixed! -Anthony
  13. I just wish I had a Mac... Period. I get to wait until just before freshman year of college to buy my Macbook Pro. -Anthony
  14. Nah, it has always shown that. When connected to 800, it comes up as Secondary 800 MHz Band or something like that, and in parenthesis it would say "(10)" to indicate band class 10. -Anthony
  15. So I figured that now that the main WWDC event is over, I would make an iOS 8 and Mac OS 10.10 beta discussion thread to talk about anything we have experienced with them and to talk about our impressions. I am currently running the iOS 8 beta on my 5s and man, it is DEFINITELY A BETA. Whenever I restart my phone, I have to do the last couple of setup steps that you run into when you would update to a new version of iOS or when you would restore your device. That's a ton of fun. The battery life isn't horrible, but it's noticeably worse than iOS 7.1.1. For whatever reason, something keeps using my location at random times, and I can't figure out what it is. But on the bright side, my Tapatalk notifications are FINALLY working now. -Anthony
  16. Oh yeah, almost forgot to upload the pics of our all new, 4 inch screen-optimized Field Test App: -Anthony Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk
  17. Sounds interesting! Can't wait to see. -Anthony
  18. Will do so as soon as I am able to get Tapatalk installed! -Anthony
  19. On the bright side, I installed the beta on my 5s. Field test is finally updated for the 4 inch screen. About damn time!! -Anthony
  20. I'm just ready for them to announce iOS 8 so I can see if I want to download the beta or not. -Anthony
  21. Have you tried texting him/her once and then just waiting until you got your bill to see if you were charged for the text? I'm sure if you get charged, it'll only be like 3 cents or something. I would say that's a pretty surefire way to find out the answer to your question. -Anthony
  22. I'm not sure if 2.5 was certified (Or however the FCC or whomever says what frequency can broadcast what) to broadcast EV-DO. -Anthony
  23. There, you can end your argument right there. It is NOT concrete that the 5 GB mark is when someone would be throttled under the correct circumstances. It doesn't matter what you have read, because, again, it is NOT CONCRETE EVIDENCE. Do not assume facts that are not in evidence. -Anthony
