Official Tmobile-Sprint merger discussion thread
nexgencpu replied to Nextel49's topic in T-Mobile Merger/5G NR Deployment
I'm more taken aback by the pop/speed Sprint will have over Tmobile as solo companies. It's pretty staggering, but not surprising.. -

This is a pretty damning chart for TMobile. Keep in mind this is sourced by Tmobile themselves. Link to source.. https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/without-sprint-t-mobile-will-need-38-000-new-cell-sites-to-meet-demand-analysts-say This might be an exaggeration, but it's probably realistic.. -
Does ATT replace screens under the normal protection and with no deductible? if so that's pretty great. Because repairing AMOLED screens on a high end device is pretty expensive, far outstripping the cost of the actual monthly charge. Also, my personal trick is to keep some sort of protection for the first six months after purchasing the device while the cost is pretty high. After six months the price for repair is no longer as expensive.

Any place north of 167th st in the Bronx or Manhattan(due to spectrum limitations, Sprint needs to deploy non contiguous B41 CA to add third carrier and beyond)are limited to 2xCA. Every other borough, including Queens, Manhattan, BK, SI and LI are all chock-full of 3XCA.
-
Crazy, I have been using LTE only for data and voice for so long I completely forgot about CDMA,?
-
M-MIMO is truly an awesome way to maximize spectral efficiency.. Using nearly 700mbs of backhaul to feed 16 simultaneous connections on only 20Mhz of B41 spectrum. In the screen shots on the post you can make out that each of the 16 devices are averaging around 40mbs. https://twitter.com/sawilkus/status/1040021167761842176

Yup!
-
Yeah this is not uncommon in NYC. You can even get over 300mbs during off peak times with the right signal strength.
-
Still technically correct!?
-
Looks like microwave for backhaul.

These are Altice.

Since B41 spectrum availability is based on radius, if it's available might as well use it. So this doesn't surprise me considering it would just sit unused otherwise. Also, makes sense since sites are so close to each other to take advantage of some straggler spectrum, and as you said avoid interference.

I believe this a small cell located on Mott St and Grand st.. GCI might have changed, and SCP not detecting it as MM or SC.
-
This could be some type of small cell, the SNR is extremely clean. Where, may I ask are you getting this? and what type of speeds? BTW, it would be nice to see the GCI as well from Signal Check pro to confirm. Can you post a screen shot of that as well, this could end up being a SC..
-
That's interesting, try to run speed test and open engineering again to see it in an active session. No CA on your screenshot.
-
I've only seen one site posted with 15mhz of B41 in lower Manhattan, but every single other site has been 40mhz or more(not including SC) Where are you seeing these sites, and can you post Engineering screens.
-
That is awesome! Good to see it outside of NY.
