  1. I can't wait!!!!! hopefully my order gets bumped up and shipped sooner. ordered a 32GB White Nexus 5. now the fun part is getting ahold of the SIM card for it. How likely are Sprint sales reps going to understand and be willing to give/sell the SIM card?
  2. This was on an unactivated device inside a Best Buy. It's not mine. It was still trying to provision. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  3. I know the Note 3 doesn't support LTE on 800 or 2600. Yet I found this on a Note 3 inside a Best Buy. Kinda odd. Software issue on the touchwiz rom? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  4. Well as luck would have it. LTE is live as of today in Soledad. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  5. i have some thinking to do now. Im eligible for Sprint's One-Up and debating whether to get an iPhone 5s, LG G2 or the HTC One Max. I like the Tri-band feature. Building quality should be like the One, but my biggest concern at the moment is HTC's current status. If it is going under like BB, I don't want to buy a device that is DOA at least with support from HTC (or if HTC sells - the new owner...This is all my speculation, not fact so don't bash me for saying HTC will be sold). Essentially I don't want another Palm/HP fiasco. WebOS was a great OS but ultimately died because of an idiot former-HP-CEO. Also, Android is not my favorite at the moment, big battery drain with its NlpCollectorWakeLock service keeping my S3 from entering deep sleep 68% of the time.
  6. I was actually referring to Rukin. He said he is 21 years old. When I was 21 I didn't have much to worry about. It is true that experiences will vary on the individual. I had significant help from my parents. Started my career at age 23, been on my own since. (I'm 26) Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  7. Having years on you is not fair, how so? I wish I was still your age, means I would still be in school and not have to worry about bills and work. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  8. im only 26. surprisingly some people your age sometimes don't know what certain things are or how things were done without the new technology. since you are on here I will assume you are familiar with 5-inch floppy disks? if not, then it's stuff like that which makes me feel old. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floppy_disk edit: i don't have a kid either. having children does not qualify someone as "old." If that were the case, then there is something to be said of teen pregnancy.
  9. I feel old now. Thanks AJ
  10. Nothing makes me believe they can get those towers online anytime soon. I am fully aware Sprint likes to market areas as launched despite not having even 50% of towers in a given city upgraded. It's just annoying how they can falsely advertise their coverage. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  11. so...according to this thread and Sprint's coverage maps, Salinas, CA will go from having only 2 LTE accepted (and broadcasting) sites to having four more (for a total of 6) sites upgraded and broadcasting in 4-5 days. highly unlikely. the only 2 sites that have LTE have been broadcasting since March. I've called sprint in the last 2 weeks and spoke with a network rep that had told seached on her maps that show the completion/acceptance and the expected work dates for the towers. the 2 with LTE were supposedly 100% complete. the other four had a TBD date or were inprogress for NV work to start. If the Sprint maps is as accurate as can be, then even the network team was clueless to all towers being complete. So whats the consensus here? can Sprint pull a magic trick and flick the switch on the remaining towers in 4 days?
  12. Isis is actually a project created in a joint venture involving at&t Inc, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile. Sprint is not part of this partnership. It would be stupid for the other three to create a 1st-party payment system while supporting a 3rd-party payment option. Plus, through Isis, the carriers receive money in the transactions; Google Wallet does not share any of it's revenue to the carrier. Of course with a little bit of custom ROM magic and downloading APKs, you can install Google Wallet on at&t, Verizon and T-Mobile cell phones.
  13. have you dialed *3001#12345#* then hit send? this will bring up the built in engineering screen (known as field test). I used to access this screen often when i had an iPhone (didn't matter if it was jailbroken or not).
  14. The screens you are showing us are not the built in engineering screens. Under Radio Access Technology, it must likely is just looking at the voice part of the radios which would be 1xRTT. since your phone is displaying 3G and not the little "o" you are connected to EVDO for data. The speeds are on the upper end of good data speed for EVDO. Is your area already upgraded? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  15. Sprint support used to ask for that info on my old EVO 4G as well. As for getting the correct indicators, right now I just use signal check pro. Although, I still highly prefer not to need an app for that info. I think I'm overdue on testing out the latest release of Slimbean. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  16. Umm..thanks for the extended answer..was not what I was actually looking to get. I am aware a lot of these screens are not for the public view. Actually a lot of what we do on here is not for public view (in terms of the average Sprint customer). I just asked if this was a normal message because every Google search I had tried failed to find any inquiries about that "error." I knew well that I actually didn't break something on the phone, it just a nuisance for me when something doesn't display property.(like how 1x is displayed as 3G...yes I know 1x is a 3G technology but in terms of data speeds, Sprint should not insist on calling it that.) 17. ...enginerrs...that explains it. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  18. Come on AJ I'm not that gullible. I may not post often but I do browse this site a lot. Interesting to see it's a developer issue since I've seen this on all the rooted stock roms I have used. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  19. Hey everyone, so I have looked everywhere for a post on this topic even at xda. So while going through my engineering menu screens I can across this notification stating my APN list needs to be fixed. Is this normal or did I actually break something at some point? Any insight would be great. I hope the image uploaded. I'm new to using tapatalk. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  20. 15 months would be worst case scenario. a complete upgrade starting with equipment install to complete broadcasting will take a few months. Near my work, i spoke with a contractor that was in the process of installing the new NV equipment. that was back on April 5th. As far as I know, that site finally began broadcasting LTE on July 1st. (Sprint claimed 3G was upgraded even earlier, and I was connected to 800 by late April/early May. ) So yes, 15 months is alot, but that is worst case. Best scenario would be less than six months. the time will vary as others have stated. Keep in mind, Sprint is not keeping you against your will to continue service with them. You are free to cancel and move to a different provider if the service is not meeting your needs.
  21. just checked out the auction for the first time. was surprised at how high the bid is at. hope all those that are bidding are true Sprint and S4GRU enthusiasts and not just some trolls out to raise the bid.
  22. Both phones function on Sprint's PCS 1900MHz spectrum. Additionally, the Galaxy SIII also can connect to CDMA 800 MHz (former Nextel's iDEN ESMR band, not to be confused with Celluar 850Mhz). What could be happening is the phone is trying to connect to a tower broadcasting at 800 but the signal is not the best it can be. Also the dropped calls could be a handoff issue between 800 and 1900. I know I have had call drops in areas with fringe 800. I hope this is a bit helpful. I am sure others can provide even more useful information (and probably even more accurate and detailed)
  23. wow i have sure missed out on this thread. still waiting for LTE to arrive south of San Jose. Last month I was in Austin and got to use LTE for a bit. it was kinda spotty to be honest. At one point I was connected but no data was going through. Anyways just waiting to finally see that 4G icon pop up here in Salinas and King City.
