  1. I have actually been surprised at T-Mobile's coverage vs. Sprint in the areas I frequent. I moved over a total of 4 lines, but I first moved myself and my wife. First the bad news: we get worse reception where we live, but it still works for the most part. Where my wife works she doesn't get reception either. In both cases, wifi calling saves the day. And there's one restaurant we go to on occasion where we get no reception, but Sprint was terrible there also. Aside from those places, I've been really surprised in the amount of LTE they have rolled out across Miami. In some places it's quick, and others it's blazing. I still don't like how my phone says "4g" for non-LTE and that can mean HSPA+, UMTS, or something else. But I've noticed it says LTE more often than not. There are also places where I work that I remember having nothing on my Sprint phone, but I get coverage now with T-Mo. But all carriers have their spots. Anyway, I'm rambling. Coverage has been great for us aside from the trouble spots I mentioned, again which all carriers have. I don't regret the switch. I know Sprint has been rolling in filling in the 4G gaps, but the calls and texting taking a dive is what made me switch. Before that I was just patiently enduring.
  2. lol... the calls did it for me. SMS failing and calls dropping was the last straw for me. But I do look forward to seeing how Sprint comes out of this! Only thing... I still know how to spot Sprint towers. I have no idea how T-Mo's panels look like! If I don't figure that out I'll have a hard time kicking that habit!
  3. Wow you guys too? I switched to T-Mobile about a month ago also.
  4. Yea I tried that; didn't work. And there's no way to get the FieldTrial.apk file onto another device is there?
  5. The Sprint version of the One has an engineering screen. I have no idea how to get to it on my T-Mo version. I tried using the shortcut within Signal Check but it says "Field Trial not available on this device". I tried dialing ##3282# on my phone and it said "USSD Code running" which freaked me out, but then that error'd out. Hopefully that didn't actually do anything.
  6. How do you guys know that they have 5x5 or 10x10? I've only had T-Mo for about a month down here in Miami so I'm not sure if I even saw the difference or if the change happened before I switched. That's my concern and my plan as well. Hopefully Sprint is in a better position within the next year or two.
  7. There's always the free wifi calling that they already have too. I could see travelling internationally and using my phone in the evenings on wifi, but this new option is pretty convenient. Like has already been mentioned here, I wish they'd enable domestic roaming on AT&T!!
  8. If you ever need to check something on a GSM phone, I can check it out as well. I ended up switching to T-Mo but I still have the HTC One. I still use your app to see what "4g" I'm connected to when it's not LTE. The app definitely shows less information but I guess that's the nature of how T-Mo does things.
  9. Wait, so are you saying that T-Mobile has an agreement where it can roam onto AT&T similar to how Sprint can roam onto Verizon, for example? So if you're in an area with no T-Mobile coverage, the phone will roam onto AT&T?
  10. Well this is the thing... I'm basically looking for a carrier that will reach certain parts (including a sub-level basement / garage) in the DC area cuz my dad needs it for work. Sprint was hit or miss for him. T-Mobile seems to be even more flaky. I know both of them operate on higher frequencies, but I wasn't sure how VZW or AT&T were. I know the only thing I can really do is have him try them, cuz there's a good possibility that none of them will be reliable where it's needed. And all this also depends on tower placement, etc. for his unique location. But I always thought that at least VZW's voice was on a lower frequency than the others. So are the big 4 all on higher frequencies for voice?
  11. I'm a little confused... I know Verizon & AT&T's LTE network operates on the ~700 MHz band, but what about their voice? Do they have 800 MHz or something else in that area?
  12. Has anyone had an issue with wifi? I still have my Sprint HTC One so I updated it to 4.3. I did a speedtest on my wifi network at home after the update and got about 5-6 mbit down. I did the same test on my T-Mo HTC One and got about 20 mbit down. Same server & everything. I ran the test multiple times and got the same result on both. FWIW the actual speed of my internet at home is around 30mbit when done on a computer.
  13. Interesting.... I switched to T-Mobile and I noticed that it does this also. When it's on LTE the bars show the strength of the LTE signal and not the GSM signal.
  14. This would happen after I switch to T-Mo! Oh well... couple more weeks. I just saw over at XDA there's a new radio in this one. Hopefully we'll see 4G performance improved!
  15. Over the past several weeks my service has degraded tremendously. Calls getting dropped, SMS not going thru until after multiple attempts, even not being able to place calls. It's getting old fast.... I've had more problems the past month or so than I've had in years with Sprint.
  16. I've dropped more calls in the past few weeks than I have in years having Sprint. That in addition to my phone not working in some places for calls and texts (never mind data). I know they're working on it but I hope it's not like this for much longer. On the plus side I am seeing more 4g. I can't wait to get my upgrade so I can use a triband device. Since 2600 already live down here.
  17. I think this is more of a "One" thing. I called Sprint about this when I first got this phone several months ago. They told me it was because the phone gets hung up either getting onto a 3g signal or a weak 4g signal. I've noticed this behavior when I'm in an area that has 4g or is on the fringe of a broadcasting 4g tower.
  18. When I had the first Photon, it was great at getting a WiMax signal. At the time my wife's Evo Shift couldn't get anything in the same spot. I remember reading on Anandtech that Moto used a different WiMax chip than the others, which contributed to that.
  19. Yea I would have loved a blue One!
  20. Do you have any pictures of those? I don't think I've ever seen one.
  21. It's not terrible. I'm really not sure as this and the Evo LTE are the only LTE devices I've had. In comparing to my wife's S3, I've seen instances where I have 4G and she doesn't, and vice versa. So it might just be the Sprint network in its infancy. I've also seen my wife's phone hang on to 4g but pull sub-par speeds while my One goes back to 3g. It's just that 3g is soooo much slower than a weak signal. But looking at the Signal Check app on both the S3 and my One, the S3 usually has a better signal by between -2 and -10 dbs, which leads me to believe it's the phone. So the answer is, who really knows???!!! What would really be depressing is if the new tri-band phones still have issues. (altho we said the same about the One having issues last year... lol)
  22. See if this one works. https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/mobile/a0JsXoeVaNM/1K2oOwYnMPwJ
  23. Looking at different forums, it seems the Verizon One has the same issue with holding an LTE signal as ours do. Oh well.
  24. I've noticed some weird things with location and my phone lately. I linked something in the HTC One thread but basically it seems after a couple of hours some apps using location don't seem to work, like Google Now for example. It doesn't seem to use the cell triangulation anymore. When I open Google Maps it says "waiting for location" while it gets a fix instead of giving you the big blue circle based on triangulation, then drilling down. The link I found pinned the problem on the latest Google Play Services version.
