  1. Donuts are simply LTE sites with the authorization path for all devices turned off, that has nothing to do with CSFB. There's usually an issue that needs correcting or an employee/crew that needs firing.
  2. So there's a disconnect between what is actually go on there and what the executives think is going on there. Confusing....on purpose or just plain idiots?
  3. So basically the .15 radio removes the feature that kicks the phone down to 3G when the LTE site can't setup the 1x tunnel?
  4. No band 41 here for a year or so and no additional PCS LTE carriers possible but I am still optimistic that B26 might pull it out for a bit until B41 can rollout but that's a lot of sites to build unless they plan on doing the island thing.
  5. How is Evdo there? If it is like my market, everyone is on the LTE river creating a huge log jam, so if you switch to the evdo you end up with the 1 to 1.5 mbit evdo which is better than the dead LTE.
  6. It seems like on every earnings call they keep referring to Chicago as the "finished" market that is the golden child and doing the best out there. Has it really gotten better recently like they say?
  7. Yes indeed.. Can't wait to check it out myself! Oh wait... Carry on!
  8. Majored in none here except for self taught experience.
  9. I would like to see these patents, it did peak my interest when they mentioned it.
  10. Correct. It's hit or miss. Load your own PRL and of course that depends on if the 800SMR isn't blocked.
  11. Most have been reading the spin so far instead of actually looking at the numbers.
  12. Not sure if you listened to the QA at the end where they talked about losing feature phones. Once the transcript comes out, it is worth the read. I was expecting worse numbers than this though so I'll give them a thumbs up on that one.
  13. They admitted the postpaid adds were pretty much all tablets. I was wondering why they were practically giving those things away.
  14. Yep. Shut off. Swap SIM, make sure the APN is good and that's it.
  15. I doubt it will be fixed. There's just no clear defined way to do it with some phones working and some not. Just push it under the rug and the problem will go away in a few years. If you want to enable it yourself then you'll have to do your own PRL loading thing.
  16. Never really used the root metrics one as it didn't map correctly, always used Sensorly of course. I have used the FCC app for a while. My average shows a little over 1 megabit down as the average. Not too shabby for LTE.
  17. I can speak from another perspective comparing a mixed B17 and B4 network. Band4 isn't everywhere and only in higher capacity areas. I never realized I was on band 4 and getting switched back and forth until I was looking at my logging and noticed some out of the norm LTE GCI's. So once things get rolled out correctly it shouldn't be an issue as long as the network Config is done right. I did notice that anytime I am in an area with band 4 I immediately jump to it. My N5 doesn't hang on to it until the bitter end, it hands off to a nearby B17 site when the signal gets to a moderate level. I bet it is setup right now to kick people over to the B4 spectrum since there are probably more B17 only devices out there.
  18. I still carry it from the days of full duplex chats from the BBS days. Helped to show that call waiting didn't kick you off in the middle of a thought.
  19. They must have done the same thing for 1x800 right as that got them excellent results.
  20. It's all dependent on what the basestation is transmitting. Garbage in garbage out no matter the app.
  21. I used 800 on the Note2 in Ericsson markets once they figured out how to fire them up correctly. It seems to only affect some of the phones.
