Sprint's broadband cards aren't unlimited anymore? Last time I looked, 4G was unlimited but 3G was limited to 5GB/month. I'm grandfathered into an old unlimited plan on 3G, otherwise I wouldn't be able to work from home.
If I can't get unlimited on LTE with a broadband card then I'm in deep doo-doo.
Sprint dumped unlimited 4G data on broadband cards last year and gave a generous offering of 6 & 12 GB plans to 1-up on Verizon. If you had Clearwire, they have unlimited for $35/mo that's throttled to 1.5Mbps.

Until this afternoon, never.
For the past 7 years, to get 3G and/or WiMax, I've had to drive to either Muncie or Ft. Wayne, 45 mins either direction.
When iPCS first sued Sprint, they stopped upgrading. Thankfully Sprint bought them out and now things are looking up.
Wow. Welcome to the Sprint 3G family. Saw your speed test and I must say you have good data speeds for new 3G. Hopefully they don't slow down anytime soon.

Just a heads up.
NE Indiana, more specifically, the little town I live in has 3G as of this afternoon. I'm trying to determine whether it's just the closest tower to my house or all in the county. I also am unaware if it's a full NV deployment or what.
I'm so happy though.
You never had 3G data where you live before?

I am not too fond of the idea of a virtual home button, but I do like this design.

Virtual buttons are no good for me either, as I have a hard enough time with "pressing" the home button or the search button on my EVO Shift all the time anyway.

Here is another concept gallery of Liquidmetal iPhone concepts.

This looks really cool.

Yea, Apple has the rights to about everything... so they say....
Actually, I must correct myself. Apple has a contract with Liquidmetal to license their material, and it's possible that the next iPhone or even the next MacBooks to use the material for their cases. It will be interesting to see what Apple has up their sleeves this year.

Hate to say it, but that, like many other of the iPhone design rumors, is sounding pretty far fetched, imo.
Probably so, but Apple does have the rights to Liquidmetal at least. I guess we will see for sure what rumors are right and which ones were totally fake when the next iPhone is released.

True, and I'll take a larger form factor. My biggest pet peeve with the current design is the wasted space. I want a larger screen, and less plastics.
While we are on the topic of form factors, check out these concept drawings of a Liquidmetal iPhone.

I feel for your circumstance. But unfortunately for the long run, you will likely need to figure something else out. In order to keep unlimited for smartphones, Sprint will have to crack down on tethering. Usage limits for hotspots and data cards are going to be sticking around. If you must stay with a mobile broadband ISP, then you will likely have to find a way to stay within a usage threshold of 5GB or 10GB some time in the future.
Robert
Actually, Sprint Mobile Broadband Cards are 6GB & 12GB.

You raise an interesting conundrum that I don't think Sprint has fully thought through. And this could possibly derail unlimited for the long run, but...
With unlimited LTE, Sprint LTE speeds are going to be faster than approx. 75% - 80% of their customers home ISP's. Many people may try to abandon their Home ISP's and try to exploit Sprint LTE for home service, or like in your case, why use a local ISP limited to 600k or 1.5Mbps upload speeds? Many people will jump on the Sprint LTE to do uploads with their 5-10Mbps upload speeds. Even I might be tempted. I only have 600kbps upload at my home myself.
I expect Sprint to crack down on unauthorized tethering on their new LTE network. The new network has ample controls to indentify tetherers. I don't see the status quo being maintained. And they are going to have to implement something to preserve the new network. Sprint does not have the spectrum resources to be a Home ISP for even 20% of its data customers.
Robert
In my case I have no access to land based ISP's period. So maybe a data card would be to my favor in the long run. I just have to be careful not to go over the limit since overage is charged per MB, not $10 per GB over.

Yes, definitely. And it would be nice to see a Mophie for the GNex. It is too bad that the EVO LTE has a significantly different form factor than the One X. If they were the same, then Mophie could make a killing on sales there.
-
I'd buy the iPhone (whatever #), if it had a larger screen. I'm hoping for at least a 4" screen, same form factor, and same set of aftermarket accessories.
One of the guys in my office has one of those battery pack cases which adds about 3/4" on top and bottom of device, and about a full day of battery life on top of the stock battery.
I'm not so sure they can stuff good LTE antenna's in the current form factor, although I could be wrong seeing that rumors going both ways have been posted around the internet.
-
Quite possible. If the phone sells in multiple millions, it might be worth the R&D to come up with a battery case for Mophie or some other interested party.
Mophie has been asked if they would make regular juice packs for android phones and they said they have considered it, but never said that they won't do it. So maybe it will still happen.

Me too. I had to ask. Well, I didn't have to, I was compelled to by my inner idiot.
Not inner idiot, it's your inner nerd.

I think I need to be checked for alzheimers... misspelled and cut the number in half memory is not serving me well today. I did run out of Kona coffee though. Folgers doesn't cut the mustard.
Someone get this man his Kona coffee! And it's not alzheimers, it was just your caffeine withdrawals.

Too bad it wasn't a monster battery like the RAZR MAXX. Then I wouldn't care about having a removable battery.
If they put the same size battery in the Evo LTE as what's in the RAZR MAXX, then heck to the LTE iPhone. I love all day battery life.
Edit: Who knows, maybe someone will make an external battery case like the Mophie for this phone.

You can't. The FCC has broken down 800 into uplink and downlink sections. TDD would require FCC approval and then larger guard bands would be needed so as to not interfere with adjacent usage. This would waste spectrum and not really feasible and would have no discernable benefit.
Clearwire TD-LTE is already being designed to seamlessly handoff to Sprint FD-LTE. So no issues there.
Robert via NOVO7PALADIN Tablet using Forum Runner
I'm curious how they have figured out how to make handoff seamless with TD vs. FD LTE. It would be nice to see an article explaining it in detail.

I would love to have 3Mbps uploads on a consistent basis. Then I could upload videos to YouTube for my church without any problems creeping up anymore. Uploads on WiMax have been too unstable for me since I first got the Clear iSpot.

According to the NV list, you aren't scheduled for Network Vision upgrades until later this year, but they could have already put compatible equipment up ahead of time. At least, hopefully they did.
