Josh' date=' that is possibly fate intervening on your behalf. If you owe a balance on your account and cannot afford to pay the 150 carrier subsidized price for a new device, then you are probably already stretched beyond your financial means, and opening a new line of service to get the new device is a bad idea.

I was going to cancel my main line or put it on standby for 9/mo so I could get the new phone. And I did pay my past due balance yesterday. And maybe it is fate. I just wanted SVDO. :( like I said, Oh Well.

I guess its back to the drawing board.

  2. Not sure if the Galaxy Nexus is the same or not but for my Nexus S 4G to get into those types of menus I type *#*#3282#*#*.

Then I go View>Others>Multimedia and the RSTP Proxy and Port and the HTTPPD Proxy and Port are <not set> which I assume means mine is not going through any proxy server.

I am running Cyanogenmod and a custom Kernel and I am not sure if they have access to these settings or not so I am not entirely sure they didn't get changed due to flashing roms but I kind of don't think the ROM or Kernel would change these things.

It appears that most custom ROM's have the proxy changed. MikShifted G 2.1 has it changed to 0.0.0.0

  3. Clearwire still has their own customers that use WiMax service. Some of those people are still on iSpots (like me) and pay next to nothing for our service each month. Killing off WiMax would make those people mad, and then they would lose their customers, thereby making their financial situation worse. Their earnings call was depressing enough with a Net Operating Loss of over $400 million still. Keeping WiMax for as long as possible can only help them. When it comes time to shut it down, it will cost them money to remove the old WiMax equipment. They don't have the extra funds to waste on removing it as they turn on LTE on a city-by-city basis.

  4. Except that they are starting to offer wimax to prepaid, freedompop and netzero. I'm sure clearwire will continue to offer wimax as long as revenue keeps rolling in.

Agreed. As long as they can make money with it, why shut it down? I know their ultimate goal is to migrate all their customers to LTE, but until they complete their complete overlay, they need to keep all the existing WiMax towers going. I'm curious to know who they have as the vendor to put up the equipment.

  5. I think its a good phone, at a great price. I actually really like this thing for some reason, whereas I typically dont even glance at anything other then flagship phones. I think it would be a serious upgrade for you, Josh, and I think you'd like it. I say jump on it! My only question is, just recently you were talking about trying to save money on your cell phone bill and considering going to a pre-paid provider... and now you want to add another line to your contract? Edit: but for 20 bucks and free activation... it is a steal.

I was, but I want SVDO without going to a GSM prepaid. And if I get this, I will be cancelling my main line and paying the ETF so my bill won't go too high, or putting it on seasonal standby for 6 months for $9/mo, and re-evaluate then.

I could find nothing on the phone indicating the software had been loaded.

If installed' date=' it It shows up in:

Settings > Wireless & Network > Mobile Networks > Automatic Connections

But nothing was in there so it is not preloaded for some reason.[/quote']

I thought I heard they were going to add it later when more LTE markets were lit up. At least now we know it's a menu setting.

    Thanks Duffman
