  1. Great shots. You can see the RRU's there in place. I notice that the new NV panels are considerably wider, but not much longer. Even though they are handling both 800/1900. Also, check out the MW on top. Never seen one like that. It's a cute little sucker. Thanks for posting!!! You are going to have to get one of the first LTE devices and go back and do some performance testing since you know that's a confirmed LTE site. Robert
  2. I have one of my sources working on the dirt now! Thanks for the heads up. But please share with us photos of the site, if you think it's permissable. Definitely don't want to get anyone in trouble. I can't imagine Sprint having any issues with you taking photos from the public right of way? Also keep in mind Sprint will be changing this in the future because they are using a combined 800/1900 panel in Network Vision. They are longer and thicker than legacy 1900 panels. Robert
  3. Does that mean I cannot count on you making another donation? I doubt there is as cool of a forum or site for any of the other carriers as S4GRU.com! Robert
  4. It's not anything I worry about. Based on Sprint's keeping unlimited ads going strong and Hesse's continual comments on it, there is no reason to be concerned that LTE will be a catalyst to ditch unlimited. It would not be until LTE is starting receive significant usage burden that Sprint cannot mitigate with easy solutions like 800/2500 capacity enhancements that I think they will scrap unlimited. I'm a believer that Sprint is banking on an unlimited LTE iPhone to save the day! Robert
  5. Aloha! I can confirm at this time that Hawaii is not in the first two rounds of Network Vision/LTE deployment. Stay tuned to S4GRU.com for more updates about the Hawaii market in the future. Robert

    LTE to omaha,cb?

Also, would like to make the point that market starts at the end of the 2nd round and starts at the beginning of the 3rd round are not very dissimilar. The breaking up into rounds is more of a market management thing than it is a significant calendar difference. This is evident with Miami/West Palm and Memphis in the 2nd Round. Ericsson will start mobilizing in Miami in May and Memphis in June. However, NYC, which is a 1st Rounder starts in April. And SF Bay (which is also in the 1st Round) is now confirmed as a Summer start. So no one should be freaking out because their market is not at the end of the 2nd Round. Unless they live in New Mexico! Robert
  7. My thoughts too. Well said. Especially the gravy, part. Emmmmm... Robert
  8. McDoubles and links aside' date=' this is not accurate. Period! [i']And for the record, I have never ever reported that any new LTE smartphones will support WiMax. And I have constnantly been trying to educate folks that previous WiMax only devices are incapable of supporting or being modified to support LTE. Neither are true.[/i] Robert - Posted from my E4GT with ICS using Forum Runner

  10. There are 26 markets in the 4th Round, total. And 30 in the 3rd Round. However, in one doc I saw the 4th Round broken up into three pieces. First starts, second starts and final starts. In the final starts of the 4th Round, there were 9 markets listed. These were projected to begin in December 2013. However, these were preliminary planning documents. It's so far out, that it would be reckless to report on them. Robert
  11. Typically, this can be handled with downtilt adjustment, however the 800 and 1900 share panels in Network Vision. I'm nearly certain this has been taken into consideration, I just don't have the answer how. Robert

    LTE to omaha,cb?

I can understand your hesitancy. However, the difference between LTE and WiMax deployment is night and day. WiMax was never planned to go nationwide on every site. And also, WiMax deployment was through a 3rd party (Clearwire) that ended up getting into severe cash problems. Also, WiMax as a technology just never caught on mainstream. LTE is being deployed nationwide on over 99% of all Sprint sites. It does have an announced schedule to be just over 24 months (WiMax never was announced with a deployment schedule). LTE technology is not going away anytime soon, as it has become the global 4G standard. And Sprint is deploying it itself on its own spectrum and has already executed all the contracts for the work. Also, Sprint is announcing markets in advance. Whereas with WiMax, they were announced at completion. So, that all being said, I can respect your hesitancy based on previous WiMax deployment. However, I personally have no concerns about buying a LTE device in 2012 based on the WiMax failures. And I live in a Sprint market that is at the very end of the Network Vision program. Robert
  13. I don't know if they will actually remove equipment right away, or it just starts with powering everything down. If I get more details, I will share. If it involves not actually removing equipment, thinning may have already occurred there. Do you know any Nextel subs that you may be able to verify with? Robert

    LTE to omaha,cb?

Last two Second Round markets will be announced tonight in chat. That will conclude the last markets that are expected to start in 2012. Remaining markets will be 2013 starts. Stay tuned. Robert Robert - Posted from my E4GT with ICS using Forum Runner

  21. Yes. I did. And its true. Signal should be the same for EVDO and LTE from the same site. However, EVDO performance is relatively steady across a degrading signal, whereas LTE performance degrades proportionally across the signal degradation. At -101dBm, EVDO has lost 35% of its performance. At -101, LTE has lost 70% of its performance. At -106dBm, EVDO has lost 75% of its performance and LTE has lost 80%. So here you can see EVDO performance degradation is relatively flat compared to signal degradation up to -101dBm and then falls off a cliff and catches up with LTE around -106dBm. But as far as WiMax goes, it is even sharper. WiMax loses 80% of its performance at -90dBm. And not only that, at 2500/2600MHz, the point away from the tower where you get a -90dBm is going to be so much closer than where you hit the -90dBm with EVDO/LTE on 1900. When I look at the LTE testing data, I cannot help but smile. It will be heads and tails better than the best WiMax we ever had. Not because WiMax is inferior per se, it is mostly because how it is being deployed this time. I do not have any 800 LTE field testing data, because they have not started testing 800 in the field yet. Otherwise I would have a permanent grin that couldn't be chiseled off my face, probably similar to John Elway's! Robert - Posted from my E4GT with ICS using Forum Runner

  23. My wife has an Evo and I have a E4GT. She often has more bars in her signal strength indicator, but usually signal strength is roughly the same if you check the dBm's. The only time we have a difference in signal that's notable is at the edge of service (like in your camping example). However, I just then force roam and go onto VZW 850 at those times when I have a signal worse than -100dBm. Robert - Posted from my E4GT with ICS using Forum Runner

Back when i was a night auditor, I used to call my girlfriend (who is now my wife) and wake her up and beg her to bring me Taco Bell. Back in those days Taco Bell served breakfast. They had this sausage, country gravy, hash brown and egg burrito that was only 79¢. Man I loved those things when I was in college. I wish Taco Bell would bring back breakfast!
